Leaderboard after Round 16 (15 not included)

Stephen Coniglio - 182
Josh Caddy - 145

Jamie Cripps - 112
Isaac Heeney - 105
Matthew Kreuzer - 101

Some changes & stalling over the first two bye rounds, as to really be expected. Once I work out what I do for the ghost-shipped weeks. (15, 17, 18 & 19) I will tally votes and update the leaderboard. No one is catching Coniglio however. Shame that Caddy went down.

Congratulations to captain Stephen Coniglio for his impressive showing for Taiwan in the Asian's B&F count despite a poor team year. He polled 13 votes over 7 games to sit 10 votes clear of a crowd of other Taiwan players. Well done to Cripps, Langford, Guthrie, Heeney, Williams, Blakely, Maynard, Griffiths and Jordan Murdoch on polling at some point in the season. Bring on 2017!

Congratulations to Stephen Coniglio on his win in the Khalil Medal! Despite not being named Round 1, Stephen absolutely blitzed the young field over the course of the year, finishing streets ahead. Hopefully he can lead Taiwan to a surge up the ladder in 2017!

Brayden Maynard & Connor Blakely share the Taipei medal for the teams rising star.

Coaches Comment: We went into this trade period with the main goal to continue on with the focus Memph originally had for the Dolphins, and despite the volume of movements, we feel we have successfully managed to do just that.

Report - With the arrival of former arch enemy, and long-serving XV coach Koop to the club, it marked a new era in the  Taiwan Dolphin's organization. Many fans were worried that the astigmatism of hiring such a coach with a disputable trading record would hamper the club's hopeful ascension up the Asian ladder in 2017. However it all seems to have transpired rather pleasantly for the new coach.

Several quality players have been welcomed into the Chinese territories training camp over the course of the last month, with the Dolphins having 3 times as many movements as any other club so far in the trade period. Talented inside midfielder Trent Dumont was headhunted by Koop to bolster the thin midfield stocks after a very solid second season in the league. While former co-captain of the Eskimos Brad Ebert jumped at the opportunity to be reunited with his original mentor, signing a 3 year deal that will tie the hard-nut to the Dolphins until the end of 2019.

However the biggest coup for the Dolphins of the trade period was almost undoubtedly the arrival of talented ball-winning forward Jarryd Lyons to the club after spending the last 4 seasons in the high altitude conditions of the Tibetan mountains. Coach Koop was reportedly stoked to welcome Lyons to the club, who should give the Dolphins a much needed points boost every week. The club however said goodbye to their bright young midfield talent in Blakely to get that deal done, as well as depth forward Brandon Jack.

Several promising youngsters have also joined the ranks of the Taiwanese defence. With the dashing Jayden Hunt arriving in a trade from Turkey which saw young ruckman Reilly O'Brien head in the other direction. Young key defender Thomas Barrass was welcomed from Sri Lanka with open arms yesterday in a pick swap deal for Dean Towers. While Jeremy Finlayson also has found his way to Taiwan in exchange for a 3rd round pick after reportedly being on the outer at Tibet.

However, it wouldn't be a trade period with Koop without some level of controversy. The arrival of forwards Brendan Ah Chee and Alex Sexton to the club drew several questions from other head coaches as to the fairness of the deals involved. However coach Koop has stated that "We have every confidence that both of these boys will defy expectations and repay the faith shown during their time at Taiwan"

Cam Guthrie, Tory Dickson & Jayden Laverde are the other 3 Dolphins players who will be continuing their careers at other Asians clubs in 2017.

Taiwan has also been successful in finally obtaining the late picks required to get Mason Wood, Ben Griffiths & Dan Gorringe, along with Sexton, onto the senior list for 2017, in a move that Wood says "was a long time coming." The club is also set to organize one more deal before the draft, however the details of which remain unclear.

Cameron Wood, Jayden Foster, Tom Derickx, Sam Colquhoun & Damien Cavka have all been delisted by the club.

Despite the controversy, senior pundits believe this trade period, albeit with a month left to run, should be considered by Dolphin supporters to be a massive win for the club. Their ability to add scoring power to the best XV, add young depth and still hold 2 first round picks and a second rounder is a huge bonus for the club heading into the draft, and onward to 2017.

TAIWAN DOLPHINS 2016/17 DRAFT HUB

PICK 2 - ANDREW MCGRATH

Koop says: Outstanding quick-footed athlete who averaged 32 disposals, 5 marks, 5 tackles, 7 clearances and 83.6% disposal efficiency in the TAC Cup in 2016. McGrath can play down back, across the half back flank or even inside midfield. Described as an outstanding character & leader
.

PICK 15 - ZAC FISHER

Koop says: Had a wrist injury hamper his early season form at Colts level, but the speedy, no-nonsense midfielder won the WA MVP at the Under 18 champs off the back of averaging 21 disposals, 3 marks and 5 tackles throughout the carnival. Possesses elite hands in congested situations.

PICK 31 - JACK GRAHAM

Koop says: High volume accumulator who had a standout Under 18 Champs on his way to winning the Larke medal. Thrives on the physical side of the game and loves to crash packs and do the tough stuff. Averaged 25 disposals, 3 marks & 4 tackles at the Championships.

PICK 37 - JAKE WATERMAN

Koop says: The younger brother of Alec plays a style of football ideally suited for the AXV scoring system. Jake is currently a 3rd tall/general forward with a desire to push into the midfield. He is described as being extremely aggressive & confident when the ball is within the 50 metre arc and works hard to get the ball into his hands. Averaged 21 disposals, 7 marks & 3 goals at Colts level in 2016.

PICK 49 - QUINTON NARKLE

Koop says: Balanced midfielder who enjoyed a solid top-age year, playing for WA in the Under 18 championships. Is described as a player with clean hand and foot skills and clever decision making, however lacking a point of difference. Averaged 28 disposals at Colts level, as well as 16 disposals & 4 tackles at the Under 18 Championships.

ROOKIE 2 - JOSH SMITH

Koop says: Impressive QLD winger who slotted seamlessly into Collingwood's setup in 2016.

ROOKIE 18 - TAYLIN DUMAN

Koop says - Composed kick out of the back half for Oakleigh in 2016. Needs to add some muscle before making a Fremantle debut.

ROOKIE 50 - TBA
