Title: 2015/16 National Draft
Post by: Ringo on August 11, 2015, 03:23:53 PM
Just posting draft order for the draft here for information to assist in trading.

Draft will be over 4 rounds but you must have vacancies available on your list to gain all selections.  You will have the option of passing on picks to take advantage of the Rookie Draft if you desire. Just advise accordingly.

Okay another question Ringo.

Do we need to use a Nat Pick to upgrade a rookie from our list or will we do what we did last year and just set our rookie lists once the drafting/trading periods are over?

We put Petracca on the list this year so it's quite an important thing for us to know before the draft commences.

I think we are getting rid of Rookies all together.

As per the voting on list sizes next year the result was keep lists at 45 but delete rookie list so there are no rookie lists from next year. Also posted in the Rules but no one looks there haha,

I have rechecked the draft order and think I have all correct now but if you think I have missed one let me know as manual work and going cross eyed leads to errors,

Just a reminder to post in this thread if you are passing on National Draft picks. So it can be recorded.  Trust we have 67 players taken in National Draft.

I will advise prior to start of national draft if we have to revert to 3 rounds based on number of players available.  If we have to do this there will then be a 4th round of Rookie draft.  Just advising my intentions should we not have enough players for 4 complete rounds of National Draft. Hence the importance of also advising if you are forgoing a National Draft pick.

Excellent trading by the Giants there to move all their picks into the first 2 rounds.  Giants have turned over 29 players from their list so we wait and see how competitive they are this year. May not set the world on fire next year vut watch out in future years,

We may be on the optimistic side, but we're hoping to push for finals next year actually. We've traded very hard to get quality picks that will be the core of our team going forward. But have also infused a lot of players we see as having significant improvement in them as soon as next season.

Interesting times ahead, but needless to say the future is a lot brighter at Grope Lane now

9 picks, 3 main positions. It'd be logical to get 3 mids, 3 fwds and 3 defs imo. That's what I'd do, especially given the fact they've got so many in the first round where most of the key position, they'd be set for years if they made the right selections. Personally wouldn't take any more than 4 mids from the 9 picks, though it was obviously slightly depend on who was available. Definitely will be interesting to see how it goes and if it pays off.

Cheers mate.

If we get the DPP changes we expect DeGoey - fwd, Anderson -fwd, JMurdoch - def then we will be a force in 2016 and not the easy beats that we were this year. We also have a lot of quality depth now across the lines.  Been a busy trade period and hopefully we start seeing the differences starting 2016.

This approach we wont be following sorry Nige. We have had a clear agenda for a while now. We also have done a mock draft for BXV for the first dozen picks and know exactly who we will be selecting in which position.

To each his own. I'm not fussed what you do really. I really just stated what I'd do in your position. What you do in basically the entire first round of the draft has no bearing on my picks because they're all so late so I'm not even worried about you guys picking players I want which I otherwise normally would be.  :P

Still a bold strategy though and I like it when people take risks like that. I'll certainly be watching with interest.  8)

The Key Dates for the start of the Nat Draft is 28th but there is no time associated. What time Saturday will we be starting the draft?

Have not posted a start time as yet so what is consensus for a start time.

If we have consensus happy to start earlier but just need to wait for final trade to be renegotiated or rejected.  Can start earlier and coaches can elect to pass rather than sticking to 26th date.

Discuss here.

We also have a full 4 rounds with 68 players nominated.

Do we have to say if we'll pass on picks before tomorrow? I honestly don't know if I'm going to take N58/N63 or not, depends what's available. Is it a lot of trouble for you Ringo if I pass on one (or both) of them when it actually gets to my pick?

Also, if we do start now, I think the 24 hour time restriction shouldn't be implemented until Saturday, as that's when the draft was originally meant to start so people might not actually be online until then.

There is a clear number 1 choice for pick 1 in our opinion but will wait until it is official that the draft has begun. Will check back in during lunch after the meeting.

I find it laughable how Nostra, Rids and I deliberated over National Pick 1, and one of his perks was how well suited Weitering was to BXVs scoring system.

Guess who my pick is?

The Manchester Magic take Jacob Weitering

Why is it laughable? Weitering is suited to the BXV scoring because of spoils and marks now. You asked the question and we answered. It was actually nat 3 as well btw.

Well I'm surprised you didn't take him with the other two picks you had.

Either way it was N1, I'm very sure of that. I can still remember the trade.

The Knights are after powerful fighters, who will help steer us into the future. First up is a kid who has amazing stats and is great by foot, so won't see too many Clangers.

Wrexham Knights Draft;

Jade Gresham

This guy is the biggest slider in the draft... Did not expect him to go this late. And he is completely suited to Sportal/UF scoring system. Absolutely destroys the the contested possessions and although he isn't the most accurate with his kicking, not too many are clangers. Was my top pick for Saints at pick 14 and we nearly got him with our second rounder

Wrexham Knights Draft;

Rhys Mathieson

In their debut season!? Freo are a top 4 side, there'll be hardly any kids ready to go in their debut year for any top side, not just Freo

Neale, Sheridan, Sutcliffe, APearce....

All played upwards of half a year in only their 2nd year and are regulars

It's a myth that Ross doesn't give kids a go now. If they're ready to go, they get a chance

EDIT: This is off track anyway. Sorry, keep drafting lads :)

Tossed up between him and another, being an Eagles player may have swayed me just slightly haha plus these are my last 2 picks now.
And with that I shall pick Shane Yarran with our last pick here.

Last I saw your profile you were on at 3pm AEST which is just before I went afk, so I assumed you were gonna pick but when I came back online you weren't and hadn't pick so I was surprised when I made that post. I later PM'd Ringo who said he just figured you needed time to choose 2 of the names he gave you.

As 28th November was the original date proposed to start our draft Draft picking rules are now in force.  this means Vinny has until 9:00am AEDT Sunday to pick otherwise he will be skipped.

As mentioned in Rookie draft thread there will be a short delay before starting Rookie Draft just to verify final draft picks and available players.
