Title: Australia vs Pakistan (Tests and ODIs)
Post by: nrich102 on December 07, 2016, 10:55:46 PM
Test series against Pakistan starting in just over a week from now.

Pakistan against the CA XI starts tomorrow in my neck of the woods, I'm keen to see a decent level of cricket come my way. Not exactly a squad to get excited about, but there are some okayish names.

CA XI squad: Will Bosisto (captain) WA, Jake Carder WA, Alex Gregory SA, Josh Inglis WA, Ryan Lees TAS, Arjun Nair NSW, Jimmy Peirson QLD, Matthew Short VIC, Mark Steketee QLD, Cameron Valente SA, Cameron Wheatley TAS, Jake Winter SA

Don't think of the old Pakistan, lots has changed since then. This Pakistan team is very very good. A question mark over their batting but Australia won't last a day if Riaz, Khan, Ali get the ball ot move. Oh and they also have a leggie named Yasir Shah who goes alright :)

Pakistan 2-1, Australia win the Melbourne test.

**Note: Will be Australia 3-0 if they pick Chadd Sayers in Brisbane because he'll take 10fer on debut if he does play.

Straya 2-1. Reckon it'll be 1-1 then a very tight finish to the final test. Should be a good series actually, another great chance to look at the next gen!

So Pakistan all out for 208. Nem minnit Australia 2/0 after the first over. 208 now looking like a respectable total.

Just checked the score of the CA xi vs Paki on the cricket us website. Pak all out for 208 I thought flower yeah CA XI done well there, in reply they're 2/0... yep thats 2 wickets for 0 runs.

Golden ducks for Jimmy Pierson and Will Bosisto.

Lets be honest, the Cricket Australia XI is always a pretty trash team. But Australia's top order needs to sit up and take notice, if we bat well we win this series no probs imo.

It is Pakistans openers which are the weak point. Not sure how to think of that. On one hand early wickets is the last thing a visiting team needs. But on the other hand Australia always take early wickets at home so if these wickets are Pakistans worst bats then it's alright!

But errr yeah Amir and Riaz with a swinging Pinky at night, watch out!

Number 2 India took it off them after they beat NZ.

Quote
The Victorian reminds me of English batsman Gary Ballance in the way he seeks to play off the back foot constantly, sometimes even to very full deliveries. It was this same tendency which eventually undid Ballance after his generous success early in his Test career.

I should become a sports journalist if I'm going to mention things weeks before an actual journalist does. :P I definitely said this during the Adelaide test to people :P

So because of the way he plays, all of you can get effed as he's clearly my man ;) (unless you all now like Mr Ballance)

Found the CA refund policy

This bit sounds promising

Quote
If you purchased a Ticket to see one (1) day’s play of a Test match, you may be eligible for a
refund of 100% of the Ticket Value for the relevant day if:
(a) less than ten (10) overs are completed during that day; and
(b) neither side won the match on that day and the match did not end in a tie

But then further down it says this, which doesn't sound so good haha

Quote
20. A Ticket will not be refunded and you will not be entitled to any refund and/or compensation
from Cricket Australia:
(c) if a Match is completed early in the normal course of play (i.e. completed in accordance
with the rules for the match, as determined by Cricket Australia);

I think you only get a refund if a day is lost to rain  :'( :'( :'(

Does today add further to the discussion that the Gabba wicket is at its quickest on day 2.

Australia lost 7/141 and Pakis 8/97 so 15 wickets for 238 for the day. Pakistans collapse wallpapered over the fact that our middle order is still very brittle. If it was not for the last wicket stand of 49 our collapse would have been very dire. Some of the shots played to get out should not have been played when you had a very set batsmen in Handscomb at the other end.

Feel for Pakistan as they had to start their innings in the twilight and under lights which again proves how difficult starting an innings with the pink ball at night is not easy. Australia was lucky last night that Smith and Renshaw were set when they entered this period.

Ashton Turner should get a crack this series, currently the best number 6 in the Sheffield Sheild, great fielder and a handy part time spinner as well.
Absolutely no WA bias involved at all ;)

If the match lasts past today haha
reckon the perfect scenario would be for us to make them follow on and have em 9 down for bugger all at stumps so it goes to day 4, but it gets rained out so you get that refund

...well the perfect scenario would be for the Pakis to show some fight and the rain to stay away so you can spend all day getting hammered in that pool watching some cricket but you know what I mean :P

I'd be pretty happy to never see Wade or Maddinson in the national squad again, or the test side at the very least.

Ashton Turner should get a crack this series, currently the best number 6 in the Sheffield Sheild, great fielder and a handy part time spinner as well.
Absolutely no WA bias involved at all ;)
Huge Ashton Turner fan, so I'm right on board with this.

Bat Maddo at 3. Can score quickly, and gives him one more chance to prove himself at this level. He won't get to do shower at 6.

All has it done has handed Pakistan back the momentum as you can see it is a very good bowling track , that's why players are paid huge salaries to do it a bit hard work in the heat if that is the best option

As an aside to this test there has been a suggestion we keep the beach and pool for AFL games.  Would be interesting though as it could be a bit cool.  Also would have to relocate possibly as the AFL configuration places the pool and beach behind the goals.

It's a shame that the Pakis don't have as deep of a batting line-up like England do, then they could really make a crack at these last ~190 runs. Riaz, Shah, and Ali combine for a test average of 27 and FC average of 32, they most likely ain't getting it done unless they each play their innings of a lifetime.

These two would need to get the job done and I can't see them lasting that long tbh

Pakistan really got screwed by that call, three wickets to go against a side that has been resilient all day and they call an extra 8 overs in difficult night conditions. Night batting is a lot different to day batting, and this is getting towards the very late night batting category so it's pretty harsh to make them face out another eight overs in these conditions. Hopefully they give the Aussies a scare and come within say 40-50 runs of the target.

Yeah if they had Morkel available to bat they'd have gone for it I believe it was. It was
7 down with no set bat at the crease and Tahir to go so they blocked out 3 overs and ended like 10 runs short.

Just heard on the news Aussies to rest there overworked bowlers for Boxing Day Test ..... please this is becoming a joke we nearly lost the first test because we did not enforce the follow on because our little bowlers might have got tired boo hoo  :'( , maybe we should get some of our female test bowlers to play for them so they can have a little sook about how tough they are doing it  ::)

The squad is unchanged just like it was from the Perth to the Hobart test where they made 2 unforced changes from outside the squad ;D

They've already said that an All Rounder could be coming in for the next test, depends on how players pull up etc... And obviously whoever plays well in the BBL will probably get a call up to the test team because logic
Title: Re: Australia vs Pakistan
Post by: Ringo on December 20, 2016, 03:56:35 PM
I heard they would be monitoring fast bowlers who bowled 113 overs between them in the second innings. FFS these are supposed to be professional sportsmen with finely tuned bodies. When I was playing cricket on weekends we would think nothing of bowling 25/30 overs each weekend.
Heard an interesting interview on why fast bowlers are suffering the injuries they are. The person concerned put it down to changing the no ball rule from the back foot to front foot.  He used physiology to explain how the changed actions to ensure front foot was planted on the crease twisted the body more and it did make some sense.

Well you do hear next to nothing about Ussie and co. being foreign-born, especially not negative stuff, but as soon as an England player is found out as foreign-born they are hounded here by media and supporters alike - that's hypocrisy.

I read yesterday that Melbourne might not have the Boxing Day test some time in the future (Say in the next 10 years) if the crowds don't rock up for non-blockbuster tests (Like Sri Lanka, West Indies etc) Replace it with blockbuster BBL matches (Stars vs Renegades) on the 26th instead and move the test elsewhere.

I was thinking 375 then declare for Pakistan at the start of the day. Now I think see if Azhar can get to 200, take the score over 400, and then declare :) Still plenty of time to get a result in Pakistan's favour.

yeah I think that'll be Pakistan's best chance of winning the game. there will be more time lost due to rain so it might be too hard already that'll give em their best chance

How is it flowered? We see tests end inside 3 days all the time. Barring anymore major interruptions we will still get about 4 days play (360 overs) in.

Still plenty of time for Pakistan to win and if they do it'll be brilliant :D

Sohail is only 35 from a ton, they have to keep batting after the break now :D And tbh no point going out for 5 minutes just for Azhar's 200. 433 isn't enough to roll Australia twice, 500 might be enough. If it rains then it rains it'll be a draw, can't declare early because it might rain tomorrow. Bat for an hour after the break score 100 more, there's still a potential 240 overs left in the game, plenty of time!

Wouldn't be the first time the weather forecast would be wrong ;)

If it's gonna rain lots then it'll be a draw anyway, so they may as well play as if it's not going to rain.

If you get out on this pitch you're not a very good batsman tbh, Cooky could pile on 402* (from 1500 balls) on this pitch with one arm tied behind his back

Why no declarations?

Smith wanting to pad his stats I assume
that makes no sense Jukesy :P if he wanted to pad his stats he would've declared to ensure he got the not out, instead of batting on with the risk of getting out

Cook does not play for Australia nor Pakistan. Please keep on topic.

Never said they'd call it, never said they should. Of course, they never ever would.

But I stand by my comment, rain did flower this test match up a fair bit.

Paki's are useless if they collapse on this road/batsmans paradise.

Unfortunately Pakis have history of collapses. Agree with yon though ele is how different would the test have been played if rain did not intervene.

NOOOOOOOO AUSTRALIA LOST MY FAVOURITE UNIQUE RECORD IN THAT TEST MATCH :'(

Team declares in their first innings and loses by an innings

I'll have to be content with: Australia are the only team to declare in the first innings, THEN make the opposition follow on, and lose the match :P [1981 test in Leeds with Botham made 149 and Willis 8/43]

Australia's Third Test squad: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), Ashton Agar, Jackson Bird, Hilton Cartwright, Peter Handscomb, Josh Hazlewood, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Steve O'Keefe, Matthew Renshaw, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade

Agar or Cartwright at 6 for the next test.
Title: Re: Australia vs Pakistan
Post by: Jay on December 30, 2016, 06:26:09 PM
Don't like either SOK or Agar additions to the squad. SOK is 32, and yeah he keeps it tight but he's not a wicket-taker at all. We need to pick a spinner with a better strike rate considering Lyon, Hazelwood and Bird aren't exactly strike bowlers. We also need to work out how we're going to take 20 wickets a match in India - SOK isn't the answer.

Agar averaged 78 with the ball in Shield last year (granted, this year he's doing better), and is going at 19 with the bat this year. He's still got a lot of work to do. But I'd prefer him to SOK for the Sydney test just because it's better for him to play in a test match than T20 and he still has some potential, SOK is the old, safe, boring option. Problem with Agar is that he's not good enough to be our AR batting at 6/7 yet though, so if we bring him in we'd probably have to play Cartwright too and bat him at 6 so he can spell the quicks as well.

My guess is the changes for Sydney will be Agar and Cartwright in for Bird and Maddinson - which would certainly be better than bringing SOK in. I'd prefer to just drop Maddinson for Head and use his offies as the other spin option though. Although Cartwright getting a game would be good because we might need him in India if the selectors insist on needing a 3rd seam option when we're playing 2 spinners.

Personally, my XI for India would be:
Renshaw
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb
Head
Wade (Clarke thinks he's a good player of spin - would be his last chance though)
Starc
Hazelwood
Lyon
Holland

I'm pretty confident in saying that Holland is the 2nd best spin option we've got so it sucks that he's injured at the moment, but he should play in India if fit. That just leaves the no.6 spot as a bit of a tricky position to fill, but I think Head makes sense as he's in the top few batsmen in the Shield and can chip in with offies. Selectors might decide that it should be an AR that bowls meds which in that case Cartwright probably gets the nod. The number 6 has got to be able to bat well though, I know Head can and it'll be good to get a look at Cartwright next test hopefully :)

What about Turner, is batting better than Head atm, is an actual number six and has shown he can dig in when the top order fails then counter attack when needed. He is a brilliant fielder and bowls more than handy offies. He would have bowled more but has spent the majority of first class career in the same team as other all rounders like Marsh, Cartwright and Agar.

This is what bugs me with the over rate stuff. You're given 6 hours to bowl 90 overs, and then they let you have 30mins on top of that if you're slow, but with no penalty. So Australia are 6/7 overs down on the rate, but bowl them in the last 30mins so they are fine. That's dodgy to me.

It didn't say which day they were short on, I'd assume Day 4.

Nah haven't been to the WACA but it looks really nice! I suppose people want seats though and there is only like 1 main stand there? Perth Stadium will give 60,000 seated people which should attract.

What made the Adelaide crowds rise was the change of location from whoop whoop West Lakes to the city, and from memory the WACA isn't that far away from the city centre. (One of the CATs goes right by it correct?)

QLD, NSW, VIC can have all the players, but WA and SA can host all the games :P

Carty >> Smith tbh

Also, these terrible eastern states pitches suck (seeing teams get done for 85 is a billion times better than 450/4) - another reason to play more tests in Perth

Look forward to getting my 25-day pass next summer when CA wakes up to this

Well we bowled Pakistan out for 160ish at the MCG, and 140ish at the Gabba. Might just be that Pakistan aren't that good as opposed to the pitches being terrible ;)

Maybe you guys can keep your one, well have the other 5/6 ;) Hobart seems pretty decent too when it's sunny

It's both

The Pakis are barely better away from home than the 15/16 West Indies, but these pitches don't help. Nor the rain. Nor the crowds.

Swinging ball outside off should have him in trouble. I thought the strategy would do well against spin, but Ballance couldn't buy a run over in Bangladesh. I hope Handscomb makes the technique work in India because I really like it and find it very effective.

You can twist stats to do anything. He's not a gun so don't know too much about him, but would hazard a guess that his talent has grown coincedentally when not required to keep (so more recent matches), if that makes sense. He has keeping ability, it's not hard to keep so why not have him do that, drop the spud Wade, and get a guy who can bat at an average of 35 and bowl at an average of 30 - Mitch Marsh perhaps? :P

If Mitch Marsh batted at 35 and bowled at 30 I think Australia would be pretty happy. Trouble is he doesn't even bat at 30 in First Class cricket and only 22 in Tests, then bowls at 37 (which to be honest is fine for a 5th bowler) :P

Waugh (the good one) says Fawad should go to India. Surely Australia wouldn't tour Renshaw (England), Khawaja (Pakistan), Cartwright (Zimbabwe), Steve O'Keefe (Malaysia) and Ahmed (Pakistan) at the same time? ;)
Title: Re: Australia vs Pakistan
Post by: Jukes on January 04, 2017, 10:06:02 PM
Yeah Marsh is a failure (for now) at the longer formats, but still a spot for a batsman (not Maddinson) or AR (not Marsh) to have a go, maybe Turner or SMarsh or Head or Faulkner or Patterson or somebody, all an upgrade on Wade

Aus could play 5 overseas born guys in a team and still nobody would talk about it out of shame and hypocrisy ;)

The throw was actually poor, way above the stumps, at Handscomb's head and made him work to run Azhar out.

However that was Younus' call, so not his fault Azhar wasn't paying attention.

I am a big fan of Swepson but think he needs another year or two to work on consistency. Like most leggies which are one of the hardest to control he sends a few 4 balls down. Has been showing a bit though in BBL.

awesome MCG isn't that bad :P compared to Sydney anyway

also just read this on cricinfo:
Quote
Melinda Farrell brings this update on the two Matthews from team doctor Peter Brukner: "Matthew Wade suffered nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea on Thursday and returned to the hotel to rest. We administered medication and after a night's rest he is feeling much better and will take part in play on Friday.

"Matthew Renshaw was struck on the helmet fielding close-in on Thursday afternoon and came off complaining of a headache.

"He rested in the dressing room and then, when we returned to the hotel, we performed concussion tests and his cognitive, balance, co-ordination and reaction times were all within normal limits.

"However, on Friday morning he was still symptomatic and so we have taken the decision to withdraw him from the match as he is suffering from concussion.

"We will continue to monitor him over the coming days and work with him to produce a gradual return to play."

cricinfo says there are min 30 overs left today. This partnership is going at 5.33 and the last 10 overs have been going at 6.1. Say they go at 6 from now on, it'll take ~15 overs to get the 450 lead. Which will leave about 10 left in the day (factor in Pakistan will slow the over rate right down).

So Sean Abbott and Chris Lynn are set to be named in the ODI squad tomorrow.

Is it too soon to talk shower about Sean Abbott for you-know-what or is that still bad taste? Because I have a (KFC®) Zinger (Burger)...

Hopefully can finally get some good cricket tomorrow, Aus will be wanting to win this badly because they have some big series losses coming up in India, Bangladesh, South Africa, and the Ashes over the next ~15 months.

I don't think that's conclusive either. Think we need to change how the 3rd umpire interprets DRS.

That could've easily just been his boot scraping on the ground.

flowering great ::) they have 80% of the players didn't that good enough?? They don't even draw excessively huge crowds to warrant a 2nd test. If the SCG was filling up and people couldn't get to the game then they'd have a point to schedule a 2nd.

Couple of interesting facts emerging today.

1. Josh Hazelwood will be rested for Fridays ODI
2. Renshaw not guaranteed to tour India - Shaun marsh still being considered given his last innings in Sri Lanka.

If anything I'd book Renshaw for India and reconsider Warner going (who averages 25 in India at a SR of 50 and 38 overall away from home). Renshaw's ability looks like it would stand up in India, while Marshy averages 46 away (vs 34 at home) and yes as you said he was great in SL.

The team I would go with would be
1-5: SMarsh, Renshaw, Ussie, Smith, Handscomb (wk)
6-7: two of Agar, Patterson, Turner, Cartwright, MMarsh, etc - decent lower order batsman who can bowl, or a solid #6 - I'd go with Agar and Turner, but bias
OR
6-7: Agar, Wade (wk) if they don't want to chance Handscomb
8-11: Starc, Hazlewood, Bird, SOK/Zampa/Swepson

Seeing as Warner and Lyon are the #2 and #3 faces of Aus cricket I doubt it would happen, but it would be smart to do so.

Thanks Bill Manspeaker was going to say the same thing but thought might be Queensland Bias.  :)

Here is the extract from article I was referring too quoting Boof.

Coach Darren Lehmann said nothing was being taken for granted and he had an intense boot camp planned for his players in Dubai next month. He has already flagged changes are possible.

Renshaw made 184 in Sydney, but proven subcontinental specialist Marsh is back in the mix and selectors are keeping an open mind about the side that will take the field for the first Test in Pune from February 23.

“It’s hard to leave a bloke who made 180 out of the side, but we’ve done it before with Shaun Marsh,” Lehmann said, in reference to when Marsh was dropped for last year’s Boxing Day Test after making a big hundred against the West Indies.

“That’s going to be a really difficult call. He’s a good young kid and you’re trying to give (Renshaw) as much experience as you can.

“The only way to get better is by playing so that’s the challenge with weighing up the balance to the side in India.

“(Marsh) was exceptional the last Test in Sri Lanka so he’s a real chance.”

You pick bowlers based on conditions, why not batters? Imo Shaun Marsh has to play, who for I'm not certain on. Khawaja has sucked in the sub continent in the past...
Title: Re: Australia vs Pakistan (Tests and ODIs)
Post by: shaker on January 09, 2017, 12:34:59 PM
Marsh has had so many chances and he has never grabbed the spot he always seems to fail badly just when you think he has turned the corner plus watching him in the big bash he seems devoid of any touch ATM so he would need to show something soon , Renshaw will go and I hope they stick with him instead of bringing back old has beens they should pick a younger batsman I don't who but injecting youth into the team has done wonders keep it going I say  ;)

Renshaw
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Handscomb (wk)
SMarsh
Cartwright
Agar
Starc
Hazlewood
Lyon

6 genuine bats and Handscomb can keep. SMarsh > Wade in sub continent.
2 fast bowlers plus batting all rounder Cartwright to help out the quicks. Two genuine spinning options, Lyon offie, Agar left arm offie (right arm leg) giving us good variation and a really deep batting list all the way to 9.

I think it's the perfect mix and we HAVE to play two spinners on their dustbowls. Plus we're gonna need a strong batting order in case of a batting collapse.

I'm crazy so I would go with
SMarsh, Renshaw, Warner, Smith, Handscomb (wk), Faulkner, Agar, Starc, Hazlewood, Bird, Zampa

Lot of options to play with and decisions to make. Drop Ussie? Drop Warner (Jukes special)? Play three openers? Handscomb or Wade keep? How many and which all rounders? What spinner or spinners to play? Should Starc play (I reckon Starc's technique will go like shower in India but he can bat and maybe he'll bowl alright).

The team that they will use (scrubs): Renshaw, Warner, Khawaja, Smith, Handscomb, AR, Wade, Starc, Hazlewood, SOK, Lyon

My All-Rounder rankings
1. Agar and Faulkner
3. Turner
4. Cartwright
5. SMarsh
6. Head
7. Memeswell

My Spinner rankings
1. Zampa - would turn great over there I reckon, nice variations and accuracy too. Worth a shot.
2. SOK
3. Swepson
4. Ahmed
5. Hauritz
6. McGain
7. Lyon

I'm picking him mostly for his bowling ability, I reckon it would really suit Indian conditions and he'd have a great tour - very accurate, solid speed, nice variation and can get it to move off the pitch,  plus has batting ability.

Think a good Shane Watson

Fair enough reasons actually. But still better off picking someone who's batting comes first (and has some good FC/Test numbers to show they deserve selection)

First we had Clarke and Katich, now it's Lehmann and Geeves. I'm on Geeves side of course, I like the article which fueled the comment from Lehmann:
http://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/domestic-cricket/big-bash/the-scheduling-farce-which-leaves-australia-vulnerable-ahead-of-india/news-story/b4a7b98443eabca77df5412b2a188911
There's a few good points in there. Oh then he said take Maxwell to India so credibility lost.

Gone with an extra specialist batsman there, and going by our recent times in Asia where we've struggled to even get to 300, I think that's the right call. Lyon and Ahmed can bowl bulk overs and will probably be the key as to whether we can be competitive or not. I'd rather have put Swepson in there instead of Ahmed but unfortunately the selectors wasted the opportunity to give him a taste of international cricket before throwing him into the deep end with Kohli smashing him to all parts. Marsh at 5 or 6 can hopefully help stop some of our usual collapses.

Yeah that didn't sit well with me either :P But out of all the players who can provide that 5th bowling option (maybe 6th depending on how you rate Smith's leggies or if he'll even bowl himself) I think he's the best batsman. Average of 40 in FC cricket is better than the likes of MMarsh, Faulkner, Head, Henriques etc. And he's a decent player of spin so should be suited to the conditions.

Why everyone saying it after BBL performances? :o BBL =/= test on any way shape or form. As you can tell from scrolling up though it has to be Ahmed that goes AND PLAYS in India.

As was said above until Swepson shows he's the man to lead Australia forward.

I am 100% sure Zampa's technique will transfer great to Indian wickets and conditions. Great variation, accuracy, and X-factor, plus will be able to turn it far more. I'd pick him no doubts about it

Plus, wouldn't Aus media go into meltdown with another foreign born test player? They sure are good at it when other countries do it

ele you're a smart man, I would never accuse you of doing such a thing :)

Also variation is only useful if you know how to use it. Being able to use your variations in short form cricket is completely different to long form. Just need to look at Imran Tahir for that.

They said O'keefe took 9 for today wherever he played so it will be interesting to see Ahmed for me
I think you'll see Australia stick to Lyon and SOK. Should be seeing Agar and Ahmed tour though.

It's all well and good saying we need to play more and/or new spinners in India because of the conditions, but the Indians eat average/inexperienced spinners for breakfast over there. Guys like Swepson, Agar, Zampa would be absolutely destroyed by Kohli and co.

Ironic that Warner, Khawaja and Marsh all in the India squad get out early, and now turn to Head to get them out of trouble along with Smiddy.

This innings could be a big wake up call for the selectors if Head can produce something special.

You really think they are going to change the squad ? no chance we are going to India with not the best spinners a wicket keeper that is not that good keeping to spin and players like M Marsh who there is really no spot for if we are playing 2 spinners which we will have to do with the pitches over there , I can't see any problems with that  ::)

If he's given enough chances I'm sure he will eventually start playing somewhat decent. So much batting and bowling potential it's a shame he can never follow through on it

At least he's only 25, plenty of time to turn it around

They should stick with him in 20/20 and one day but do not think he is made for tests and they will get sick of these constant failures pretty quick so he needs to start performing pronto

Marsh has played 2 more tests, 32 more ODIs, 26 more first class matches, and 44 more lost A matches - he's not an injury wreck who has lost all remnants of talent like Pattinson (match losing 0/37 and 0/43 the last two BBL matches as part of his 3 cricket matches in 11 months)

Probably for the best, even though his bowling would suit Indian conditions his confidence and form are probably just not up to scratch atm - could use some first class cricket to get him back on track for sure

My money's on someone streaking and stealing the ball and the game having to be called a draw (but Australia win because of some fine print about matches being played in Melbourne with balls being stolen in the rule book).

On another note, more Pakis in Melbourne than Aussies?
