Title: 2017/2018 NFL Fantasy Football league
Post by: Mat0369 on August 16, 2017, 08:21:51 PM
Post your interest guys. So far we have the following

1. Mat
2. Gandalf
3. plumdog
4. BratPack
5. Holz
6. Capper
7.
8.
9.
10.
11.
12.

I have my fill in from last year interested again along with a couple of others so we should be good for numbers. Sunday is the cut off and we will figure out when to draft. It will be any of the Sunday-Wednesday on the week of the 3rd of September. I'll check in later this week.

Added to the list.

I don't think I set up the Sportsdeck last year but I would be keen to do that again. If someone wants to start up a thread/league for that go ahead.

I'll check back in around 6pm tomorrow. If I get no new responses the league spots will open up and won't be held for them. I've already got some outside interest so if you want to guarantee a spot get in before the deadline.

Maybe some of the others from last year are interested but aren't checking FF, you could try sending them messages/emails through the ESPN page just in case?

Email function on here has been broken for years but I didn't think about ESPN. PB is out, he just sent me a PM. I think we're still waiting on Jay, RiOtChEs and R. Girffen. RiOtChEs hasn't been around since June so I'll send him an email if I can find it. The other two I'll send a PM now.

Jay is also out. I'm still waiting on a response from the other 2 guys but I am re-activating it all now.

A couple of changes I'm making to the scoring set up. Instead of a fumble recovery being worth 2 points, I have made it that a FF is worth 1 and the recovery worth another 1. I think it's a pretty common sense change and I'm surprised I didn't have it set up this way from the start. I have also added 2 points for a 2 point return and 1 point for a 1 point safety.

Trade deadline is 2 weeks before playoffs.

League has been activated.

I haven't heard back from the other two so I am opening their spots up. If they want to rejoin they can post in here.

Otherwise we officially have two open spots if anyone is interested.

As soon as we're full I'll set the draft order. I'm thinking we draft at 8pm on the Monday night. I'm not making the same mistake as last year and drafting on Father's Day. If we have any objections post away.

Yeah there is a clear cut best 2, and then probably top 10. So anything between 1-10 i'll be happy.

I had #2 last year. Not really that fussed on it this year. I'm hoping for a mid pick.

Elliot is challenging the suspension in court meaning he could line up week 1 while it is resolved. Basically if he cops the suspension it could be next year now.

He got O'Dell with his 2nd pick haha. So he might not have a 1st or 2nd rounder in the first week.

how does he get ODB with his 2nd pick is this a 4 team league.

If he had the 1st pick in the draft it means he has the last pick in the 2nd.

Yup haha, and I get the 4th. He reckons cos I won last year, they should get the advantage this year.

So I had to go and re-adjust the draft time since I just realised I had it set to 8.30 pm USA time. Turns out ESPN doesn't have any active lobbies between 1.45 am US EST and 7am US EST. So our draft is at 9pm by default. It's still Monday night, just been pushed an hour. We're still one short as well.

I might have to replace another owner since one of the guys isn't going to have  internet for the draft. He is asking me to change it to tomorrow night and I've given him an emphatic no.

The FF portion of ESPN is currently down. Considering the draft is tomorrow I'm going to see if I can turn it into a 10 team league. I'll add 2 bench spots to deplete the depth a little and make it more challenging.

Happy with my team too

Wilson - Don't really have Wilson in that many leagues. But should be pretty good.

Hunt - Number 1 RB in Andy Reid system. Money
Woodhead - The god of PPR running backs. Hopefully he doesn't do his knee in week 2 AGAIN.  >:(

Green - I hate Holz. That is all.
Cooks - Too good to pass up where he was. Going to be awesome

Graham - Risky but looks back to his best. In hindsight I probably should've taken a backup. Oh well

Pryor - Going to be big on a good Washington team

Cards D - Meh. I'll probably play waiver wire roulette with Defence
Koo (KOREAN!) - He's Korean. That's all you need to know.

Riddick - PPR stud
Sproles - PPR stud
Zay Jones - Someone has to catch the damn ball in Buffalo and it sure as hell ain't going to be Jordan flowering Matthews.
Carr - Solid backup for Wilson. Especially if he's back to what he was before he got injured.
J.White - PPR stud
Kupp - Someone has to catch the damn ball for the Rams and it sure as hell ain't going to be Sammy Watkins because Jared Goff can't throw the ball more than 5 yards. I don't need both Kupp and Jones to pay off. I just need ONE of them to pay off.
Blount - Handcuff basically. I don't buy Smallwood.
Kamara - This year's Travaris Cadet. Another PPR stud
Amendola - I know I shouldn't do it. I know he's kryptonite. I know he's promised for so many years and done nothing. But something just tells me it's going to be Amendola that takes the Edelman role. They like Hogan too much as the deep threat.

Plenty of PPR studs.

It's really not that bad. If anything you should be handcuffing your RB like I did with Martin/Rodgers. Teams generally don't handcuff since it takes an important bench spot. The two extra slots can basically be handcuffs.

I think I did well im predicted to put up 130 points this week and top score but im sure ill come last somehow.

QB Cam Newton - Pretty happy with him, reckon he will be a top 10 QB easy on a bounce back
QB2 Andrew Luck - Clearly a star when healthy even with the O line, top 5 potential so thats why i have Newton

RB1 Jordan Howard: geez nervous about him but good O line and QB who cant throw
RB1*: Darren McFadden: Should be a top RB for the first 6 weeks, Great O Line, with a team that runs. Steal at his pick.
RB2: Isiah Crowell: Another bad team with a Good O Line again a little nervous.

RB Back Ups:

Adrian Peterson: Old Yes, #1 option: No, but geez he still has upside.
Thomas Rawls: Banking on Eddie Lacy being no good.
James Conner: Will do nothing unless Bell goes down, given his past its certainly possible.

WR1: Julio Jones: Nothing needs to be said
WR2: Doug Baldwin: I think Wilson bounces back this year and its a shame i dont have him but Baldwin is solid.
WR3: Emannual Sanders: Will get plenty of throws but his QB sucks I reckon he will be up and down.

WR Back Ups: i went unusual with this one and looked for Handcuffs

Mohamad Sanu + Taylor Gabriel: I have the whole Atlanta WR core so if Jones goes down i wont be hit too hard.
Sterling Shepperd: IF OBJ does something stupid or gets injured I have a WR2 option at worst i think.
Jamison Crowder: My only good WR pick that doesnt rely on injury, small but lets see what he can do,

TE:

Travis Kelce: Top 5 TE but at this point i realised i should have got a backup.

D + Kicker: Got what is supposed to be the best of the best in Seatle and Tucker. Lets see if picking them early panned out. As i was going handcuffs late in the draft not talent I could reach.

I will see if my handcuff method works out with WR and RB. As it stands my bench are not good fantasy options they need injuries to breakout.

I do like my Luck Newton combo though.

I was already factoring that in when i picked him. Im pretty much handling him the same if he had a 6 game suspension, So im more then happy with Newton.

Speaking of that im soo annoyed i didnt pick up Zeke. I was suspecting the suspension would get delayed. What a steal of a pick if he plays the whole year. Doug Baldwin better be amazing.

The biggest rip off is the team im playing has Zeke this week. So i lose Mcfadden and he gains Zeke.

well once again im far far short of my predicted score and its another loss.

Adrian Peterson looking like he might be the main back at NO though so thats promising. No bad scores this week so thats good, no good scores either so thats why im going to lose.

They sure do, just a TD here or there makes a big difference though. I only had 1 TD in the whole team. My opponent only had 2 TDs though.

Jones, Baldwin and Kelce where only my real let downs being a TD or long reception away from their predicted score. Everyone else was pretty spot on.

So I've been offered a trade which I'm going to accept. Looking at the trade I feel like I'm winning but it's not lopsided enough to veto. Just letting you guys know since as commish I need to be open about it.

It's less a thing on DeMarsha and more that I think the Titans line is legit and the Jags are the Jags. No ARob with the ACL means that teams will stack the box with Bort at QB. I'm surprised he has given up on Murray after 1 week but I'll take it.

If there are any other trades that need to be looked at/processed I'll take a look Sunday and do it so they'll be ready for the games on Monday.

In a 4 man league, so everyone has good teams.

Dropped

Nelson, Howard this week

In

Baldwin, Cook

Simply because of very friendly matchups especially Baldwin v SF. Cook ran for 137 total scrimmage yards last week and against steelers so should take a lot of grunt work again. Howard against Bucs hard matchup, Nelson toughest to drop.

Brady
McCoy
Cook
Jones
Baldwin
Kelce
Gurley
Gostkowski
Seahawks

Winston
Howard
McCaffrey
Hopkins
Nelson
Ertz

Any changes I should make? Pretty happy with the lineup. Backing Brady against New Orleans horrible defense to hopefully chalk up near 400 yards and at least 2 TD passes after poor poor showing last week that nearly cost me the game.

If it's only a 4 team league I wouldn't carry 2 tight ends, especially Ertz who isn't top 10

Ertz I'm happy with. 8 carries last week for 93 yards.
Need another TE if Kelce is injured or goes down, as well as the bye situation.

Cant believe i picked up Howard over Gurley.

to make matters worse i had Cohen locked in as his back up then switched it to Leveon Bells back up.

thankfully Kelce and Sanders might save me.

Need a huge game from Julio to win from here after my running backs combined for 4.4

My apologies Jordan

138 yards 2 TD and 5 recpetions for 26 yards.

Another loss sadly despite Baldwin going 26.5 aswell.

Defense and Kicker let me down big time. As did Cam Newton (geez missing brady is hurting bad)

Sterling Sheppard was huge on the bench too.

Kareem Hunt is GOAT

Most of my team showed up this week. Which saved me after Carr completely showered the bed.

41.5 from Wilson on my bench  :'(

Still beat Holz though, Unless the Cowboys score 150 on the Cards tomorrow.

I bench him and he pumps out 39.

What a mircale TFC win in a huge comeback.

Smith and Kelce combine for 53.7 teaming up for a TD and Smith rushing one.

also thank you Seatle defense with a huge 20 with 2 TDs.

All this with Julio injured too. Who in great news has a bye next week.

Hyde ACL & Ty Broken ribs

Can't buy any luck with my RB's atm, especially Hyde always questionable and McCoy playing average.

Jumping on Kamara from NO and putting Hyde on field against a shower Colts outfit.

Upgraded to Bills defence too, absolutely killing it atm

Flowering Amendola though man. If I had have known Gronk wasn't going to play I'd have started him  ::)

I need RBs

4-1 is nice. I have a lot of depth at WR in this league. I currently have the numbers 1, 5, 6, 8 and 11 WR's. Fournette trade has backfired as of right now. The Jags are grinding, even without ARob opening up the field. I could do with an upgrade at QB and will be tempted to offload a couple of guys if anyone has a stand out guy.

For those playing sportsdeck, how are your teams looking?

I traded in Smallwood before the Thursday game and then he suddenly ended up with an injury designation and didn't play. It looks like the same thing is going to happen this week. I've had a crap load of injuries so far. The guys I have traded out are below

David Johnson
Decker
Olsen
Zay Jones (for OBJ)
Dalvin Cook

This week I have to trade out OBJ. I'm looking at Hopkins to replace him. I might also upgrade Cooper Kupp to Michael Thomas since he has already had his bye. It leaves me with the following team

Rodgers, Cam (Browns)
Hunt, Fournette, Bell, Smallwood (Mixon, McCaffrey)
Hopkins, Brown, AJ Green, Allen, Thomas, Bryant (Kearse, Coleman)
Ertz, ASJ (Engram)
Gostkowski (Koo)
Eagles (Rams)

9 mill in the bank with 3 upgrades needed is nice.

McKinnon a fantastic pick up with 69 rushing yards and a TD with 5 receptions and another TD
AP!!!!  134 rushing yards for 2 TDs
Howard 167 rushing yards with 1 reception

even Crowell was good with 58 rushing yards and 2 receptions.
