Is there team of the year as well?
Top 4 defenders by points
Top 4 midfielders by points
Top ruckmen by points
Top 4 forwards by points
Then the next 2 highest scoring players as utilities

OR

The 4 defenders who have been nominated the most for team of the week
The 4 midfielders who have been nominated the most for team of the week
The top ruckmen who has been nominated the most for team of the week
The 4 forwards who have been nominated the most for team of the week
Then the next 2 players who have been nominated the most for team of the week.

Yeah Jroo this was my idea in the first post under the OP :)

Have gone back and done the Team of the Week for the first four rounds, and I'll continue to update this for the rest of the season. At the end of the season I'll compile them for an All-Asian team based on the highest-averaging players across the season. :D

Thought we could put together an "All-Asian" team based on highest averages? Although the 'most nominated' idea is an interesting one...

What does everyone think?

Always a good sign when you have two of your midfielders in the team of the week :D

Gaz and Zaka ftw.

Winderlich must have come close as well with his 152.

Almost as good as top scoring defender on 181, and second placed forward on 190 ;) :P

Winderlich about 10 points off the money, came pretty close though. :)

Toga would it be hard to keep a running total of weekly nominations? Would be interesting to see how many representatives each team has had, or maybe how many times a player has made the team of the week.
If its too hard then no biggy

Hey mate I have a lot on my plate for the next two weeks, after that I'll get onto it :)

Will do representatives per team, and individual representations I think..

Just realised, Trent McKenzie did not feature in Australia's team this week so wasn't eligible for selection here. Brendon Goddard comes in for McKenzie.

One thing that's hard to do is keeping track of all the guys that are in the running for nominations for the Rising Star - it's hard to keep everyone in mind. It'd be a great help if you guys could help me out by maybe posting if one of your guys could be in line for a nomination this week (i.e. is a rising star eligible player that posted a good score this week). Would really help.

For this week (haven't checked SB scores yet) names that spring to mind are Nick Vlastuin and Sam Mayes. Any others?

Also due to personal commitments the team of the week will probably be up tomorrow, but maybe on tuesday depending on where I'm at. :)

Well I'm gonna say Nick Vlastuin is this week's rising star with 100 points unless anyone thinks one of their players scored better?

Michael Evans from the Bears?

Thanks Ad, didn't realise Evans was eligible...

Started the year on 9 games and is only 20 so yep, he trumps Vlastuin this week. :)
Title: Re: AXV Rising Star & Team of the Week
Post by: Adamant on May 06, 2013, 11:37:55 AM
Haha I got the idea of Evans from the WXV rising star. :P

Just remembered though, he scored 111 (DT) in round 4 I think. Does that mean he beats Crouch for the honour in round 4, but Vlastuin can get the nominee this week?
Title: Re: AXV Rising Star & Team of the Week
Post by: Toga on May 06, 2013, 11:47:16 AM
Right you are again. 157 in round 4, so Crouch is without a nomination as Evans takes round 4's nomination and Vlastuin gets this week. :)

I thought the rising star nominee had to play the game for their AXV side?
Title: Re: AXV Rising Star & Team of the Week
Post by: Toga on May 06, 2013, 10:07:10 PM
Problem with that, Koop, is that not many youngsters will really be getting games so for the nominations I think its just easiest to go with highest scoring RS eligible player each week.

If that's ok with everyone?
Title: Re: AXV Rising Star & Team of the Week
Post by: Adamant on May 06, 2013, 10:16:50 PM
That was my thinking as well, Toga.

Really, the only rising star nominee who has gotten a game so far is O'Meara... and that's because he plays for a team who is aiming for future success (Bangkok Crabs). It's also harder on Toga to go around and check if the player is named for a team.

Title: Re: AXV Rising Star & Team of the Week

He's 25 so is ineligible. Gotta be under 21 and have started the season with under 10 games experience. :)

If your doing it on who plays and scores well in the AFL and not AXV then how is it an AXV award its pretty much just another AFL rising star.

Why not someone under 21 and under 10 games of AXV experience, so all u21s this year.

Dunno if you guys know but CW has defined the Rising Star in the awards thread as:

RISING STAR (FIRST YEAR PLAYER WHO ACHIEVES THE HIGHEST AVERAGE SCORE OVER H&A SEASON)

All I'm doing in this thread is posting 'nominees' for the award, the simplest and most engaging way to do this imo is just the highest scoring RS eligible player for the round... Too much digging around to do it another way imo...

Is everyone against doing it my way or?

Dunno if you guys know but CW has defined the Rising Star in the awards thread as:

I don't really have a problem with it, but By the rule there, any first year player can win, so Matt Jones can win it??

I'll leave that up to CW to decide that one, and I guess Matt Jones and Brett Goodes are in line to win it by the sounds of it, BUT for the nominations I'm just gonna do Rising Star eligibile players. :)

Actually I disagree!

If Brett Goodes is the best first year player, he should win! Just say'n!

An award for the best new AXV player makes more sence as a rising star!

Or a player blossoming like Chad Wingard, all these are rising stars

Sorry tbag, I meant these nominations are just basically highlighting a young player's performance on the weekend. CW's Rising Star Award will be awarded to the player he sees fit. ;)

Coach: Memphistopheles (Taiwan)
Captain: T.T.Lynch (Tibet)
D: G.Ibbotson (PNG), B.Ellis (Turkey), P.Hanley (Mongolia), C.Newman (Hong Kong)
M: P.Dangerfield (Tibet), J.Steven (Bangkok), B.Deledio (UAE), G.Ablett (Taiwan)

F: T.T.Lynch (Tibet), D.Martin (UAE), M.Walters (Sri Lanka), N.Riewoldt (Bangladesh)

UAE well represented, but could have been better! Ryan Griffen would have been a shoo-in had he been named! :o Tibet with the two highest scorers for the week.

Would still prefer McEvoy for his elite consistency though. :P

I was gonna say that is a bit interesting that the Bears don't have a large number of representations.

I think that shows that Adamant recruited well, to have a strong team but not full of superstars. Like compared to the Dongs/Folders/Lambs his top players might not score as much, but his not-as-good players score better than the rest of ours if that makes sense. :P

The Bears traded out Dustin Martin hahahaha
Title: Re: AXV Rising Star & Team of the Week
Post by: Adamant on May 16, 2013, 02:02:11 PM
Also that a few of our star players have been injured/not in full form yet such as Boyd, Stanley, Waters, Robbo and Boomer Harvey. We are a very consistent team, but we still definitely have as many stars as Dongs/Lambs/Folders, if not more - Boyd, Jelwood, Mitchell, NRoo (highest averaging player currently) etc.

The Bears traded out Dustin Martin hahahaha

Yeah, it was a bad move in hindsight, but I rated Mitch Robbo higher than him after last year and he will lose his DPP in 1-2 years. At least I didn't trade him to you for Rance + Jack Watts lol. :P

Great work btw Toges! :)

All parts of the thread updated.

Taiwan's Nick Vlastuin is this week's RS undisputed nominee with a huge 176.

Brandon Ellis captains this week's TOTW, with both the Ales and Strikers sure to be disappointed that two of their players, Jack Gunston and Aaron Davey respectively, would have made the team had they been named this week. Hong Kong add another couple of TOTW players to their tally, while Tibet, Kathmandu, Laos and Vietnam the only team without TOTW players this week.

All coaches have now responded! The results!

Option A (8 votes) d. Option B (6 votes).

The AXV rising star must be eligible for the AFL rising star award - that is under 21 y.o. and with less than 10 games experience at season's start.

Option X (7 votes) d. Option Y (6 votes).

The AXV rising star will be awarded to the highest averaging nominee that plays over 10 games in the AFL this year.

*As for the second vote there was some suggestion of a 'voting system' which sounds pretty fun - who would be interested in this? I'm happy to send out another vote if need be for this topic (highest ave vs. votes).

Hard to say. I quite like the voting system because i'm sure players playing a high amount of games will be more voted upon than others, while still giving some others a chance if they shine bright.

Rules.

*Each round, one player (who is eligible for the AFL rising star award) who achieves the highest score in the SportsBet scoring method will be awarded a nomination for the rising star award.
*The winner of the award at season's end will be the nominee with the highest season average.

Nothing says that a player can not be nominated twice in one season,

Give Tom Mitchell another nomination

Nah we'll limit it to one nomination per player just like the AFL.

Team and nominee will be up soon.

Congratulations to Tibet's Ben Kennedy on earning a nomination for the 2013 AXV Rising Star Award, after his 118 point effort on the weekend.

And for this week's team of the week:

Round 11:
Coach: Memphistopheles (Taiwan)
Captain: J.Waite (Australia)
D: B.Gibbs (KL), D.Heppell (PNG), J.Carlisle (Bangkok), T.McKenzie (Australia)
M: R.O'Keefe (Mongolia), T.Mitchell (Turkey), J.Selwood (Bangladesh), K.Jack (Sri Lanka)
R: M.Kreuzer (Taiwan)
F: J.Waite (Australia), T.Cloke (Manila), J.Cameron (Tibet), J.Podsiadly (Sri Lanka)
U: D.Hannebery (Kathmandu), D.Swan (Manila)

Bad luck to Mongolia's Jonathon Giles who would have made the team had he have been named.

But, even then the Folders were the top scoring team this week.

Or is it just because my coaching has been so awesome lately :P

Congratulations to Australia's Adam Tomlinson (130) on receiving this week's rising star nomination after an impressive effort, just edging out Bangkok's Joe Daniher (120).

Manila's Brendon Goddard captain's the Round 12 Team of the Week after a huge 203 this week, seconded by his team mate Travis Cloke who posted an equally massive 185. The Vipers finally get another nominee in Shaun Grigg, while Kathmandu ruckman Paddy Ryder tallies another one for his team. Manila were the big scorers for the week.

Round 12:
Coach: BB67th (Manila)
Captain: B.Goddard (Manila)
D: B.Goddard (Manila), B.Gibbs (KL), G.Ibbotson (PNG), D.Heppell (PNG)
M: G.Ablett (Taiwan), D.Swan (Manila), S.Pendlebury (KL), B.Deledio (UAE)

Congratulations to UAE's Lachie Hunter who recieves the Round 13 AXVRS nomination on debut for his 114-point effort on the weekend, edging out Tibet's Jimmy Toumpas (99) and Mongolia's Jack Newnes (96). An honourable mention must go to Mongolia's Hayden Crozier for scoring almost half of Hunter's score in a quarter of the game time.

As for the TOTW, Bangladesh's skipper Matthew Boyd finally realised his potential, much to the joy of his coach, Adamant, and has been awarded the captaincy for his 203-point effort on the weekend. Surprisingly, with their chief representative Gary Ablett having the bye this week, premiership fancy Taiwan were without a representative this week. Other high scorers for the week were Sri Lanka's Josh J. Kennedy, who scored a mammoth 198, and Hong Kong's Leigh Montagna, who scored 191. Mongolian coach Toga receives another nomination as coach of the week.

Round 13:
Coach: Toga (Mongolia)
Captain: M.Boyd (Bangladesh)
D: C.Garland (PNG), M.Johnson (Manila), J.Geary (Laos), L.McPharlin (Hong Kong)
M: M.Boyd (Bangladesh), A.Swallow (PNG), R.Griffen (UAE), M.Barlow (Laos)
R: Jarryd Roughead (Hong Kong)

Congratulations to Bangkok's Brad Crouch who was the standout rising star performer this week with his impressive 153 on the weekend. He joins teammate Jaeger O'Meara as Bangkok's second Rising Star Nominee this season.

This week's AXV Team of the Week:

Round 14:
Coach: JROO8 (UAE)
Captain: Dion Prestia (Bangkok)
D: Bryce Gibbs (KL), Jack Watts (Laos), Dean Terlich (Bangkok), Harry Taylor (KL)
M: Dion Prestia (Bangkok), Tom Liberatore (KL), Paul Seedsman (Vietnam), Ryan Griffen (UAE)
R: Jarryd Roughead (Hong Kong)
F: Allen Christensen (UAE), Jack Riewoldt (Mongolia), Drew Petrie (Mongolia), Josh J. Kennedy (Sri Lanka)
U: Brad Ebert (Kathmandu), Jobe Watson (Turkey)

JROO8 coaches this week's team, with young gun Dion Prestia named captain. Young guns shine in this week's team, with Prestia, KL's Tom Liberatore, Vietnam's Paul Seedsman and Laos' Jack Watts among those to shine. Jarryd Roughead continues to show good form, while Mongolian duo Jack Riewoldt and Drew Petrie were awarded for their match-winning heroics against the Strikers, who were boldly lead by forward Josh J. Kennedy.

Congratulations to Vietnam's Nick Haynes on receiving this week's Rising Star nomination for his 123 against the Dolphins on the weekend. Michael Talia came close to receiving a nomination this week.

Round 15 Team of the Week:
Captain: Dane Swan (Manila)
Coach: BB67th (Manila)
D: P.Hanley (Mongolia), B.Goddard (Manila), M.Johnson (Manila), D.Terlich (Bangkok)
M: D.Swan (Manila), B.Stanton (HK), B.Ebert (Kathmandu), S.Pendlebury (KL)
R: T.Bellchambers (KL)
F: H.Ballantyne (Manila), B.Harvey (Bangladesh), L.Adams (Turkey), J.Winderlich (Taiwan)
U: R.O'Keefe (Mongolia), J.Selwood (Bangladesh)

Heartbreak for Hong Kong's Bradd Dalziell, Australia's Cale Hooker and Angus Monfries, and Taiwan's Jared Brennan, all of whom would have made this week's team had they been named in their respective sides. The team is captained by Manila's Dane Swan and coached by Manila's BB67th, with a pretty even showing across the board. This week will be the last with a scarcity of Vietnamese player though I think with captain Dayne Beams set to return next week.

Congratulations to Papua New Guinea's Marley Williams who earns himself an AXV Rising Star Nomination for his 135 point effort on the weekend. The already-nominated Jaeger O'Meara's 181 deserves a mention here as well, what a huge score for the young man!

Round 16 Team of the Week:
Captain: Gary Ablett (Taiwan)
Coach: JROO8 (UAE)
D: A.Rance (Laos), R.Henderson (UAE), T.McKenzie (Australia), D.Myers (Vietnam)
M: G.Ablett (Taiwan), T.Cotchin (Kathmandu), J.Selwood (Bangladesh), L.Montagna (Hong Kong)
R: M.Leuenberger (Vietnam)
F: J.Kennedy (Sri Lanka), N.Riewoldt (Bangladesh), D.Petrie (Mongolia), D.Giansiracusa (Hong Kong)
U: J.O'Meara (Bangkok), C.Masten (Australia)

Two representatives for Vietnam! Two!! And neither were skipper Dayne Beams, who just missed out on this week's selection! Heartbreak for Manila's Matt Lobbe who would have been a shoo-in for the ruck spot this week but missed out on selection in his team! Ablett returns to the captain's list, as we see UAE coach JROO8 recognised for his team's effort this week in being named coach of this week's TOTW.

Scotland would have easily been in the team if you selected him Nails.

If everyone could vote in this (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,85147.0.html) poll that would be great. :)
