Title: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014
Post by: GoLions on October 31, 2013, 10:58:36 AM
Put this together in a few minutes yesterday, and thought I'd get you guys to point out players I have blatantly missed :P

TEAM NAME: Dave's Legends
DEF: P. Hanley, G. Birchall, B. Waters, M. Suckling, M. Scharenberg, S. Edwards (K. Aylett, F. Roberts)
MID: S. Pendlebury, J. Watson, R. Sloane, T. Cotchin, D. Beams, M. Murphy, C. Beams, M. Crouch (A. Morabito, X. Ellis)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, A. Sandilands (D. Currie, L. McBean)
FWD: T. Rockliff, N. Naitanui, P. Chapman, D. Thomas, V. Michie, S. Higgins (P. Karnezis, J. Hogan)
CASH LEFT: $323,900

At this stage, I will not be starting with Ablett, because I don't even know why, haha. Will probably change my mind a hundred times about this though between now and Round 1.

Have not researched rookies in the slightest, so I don't really care who is there at the moment, as who I end up starting will be largely dependent on who gets named at the start of next year.

Players such as Waters, Higgins, Sandilands etc I am assuming will be fit and ready to go come round 1, if there's any doubt about them at all, they're gone.

Also, if Sam Mitchell becomes Def/Mid, he swaps with Birchall. Plenty of cash left for DPP changes so that I can adjust wherever necessary.

Can't find too many faults with it at all tbh... not sure about NicNat and Chappy, but that's about it.

Yeah, if they're not 100% fit, then I have the cash available to turn them into whoever I want  :)

Made 2 changes;
Birchall-->McVeigh
Chappy-->Pavlich

$224,700 left still

Must have Ablett
Just posted this on another team:

Regarding GAJ, the players you have mentioned didn't move to a new club full of younger kids. All these younger players should be improving their average, and with the limit on SC ppg (~3300), the points have to be lossed somewhere. Ablett's impact on the game is likely to be reduced, as other team mates will be having more of an impact. They'll also be getting more of the ball as well.

I still expect GAJ to go top 3-5 mids, but for the first time since I started playing, I feel as though he's not worth the price tag.

Use the cash to have Ablett! Otherwise awesome team. 6 mids without compromising other lines too much. I would look elsewhere than Waters he just gets injured all the time (or suspended).

Like Watson in there and Sloane - he could go off this season. If u changed Waters to Hibberd/Shaw/Bartel/Walker and Murphy to GAJ I would give it 9.5 / 10

If there is any doubt at all with Waters' fitness round 1, he is 100% gone, and will not be entering my team for the entire year, haha.
Depending on final prices, I could end up caving and go Murphy to Ablett :P
Surprised at how few people have Watson in their teams. As long as nothing happens with ASADA penalties or whatever, I think he should go top 5 mids. Love Sloane, one of my favourite non-brisbane players, and think he'll lift even more this year.

Cheers

With a bit of tinkering, I got to this:

TEAM NAME: Dave's Legends
DEF: P. Hanley, J. McVeigh, T. McKenzie, M. Suckling, M. Scharenberg, S. Edwards (K. Aylett, F. Roberts)
MID: S. Pendlebury, J. Watson, R. Sloane, T. Cotchin, D. Beams, G. Ablett jnr, C. Beams, M. Crouch (A. Morabito, X. Ellis)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, A. Sandilands (D. Currie, L. McBean)
FWD: T. Rockliff, P. Chapman, M. Pavlich, D. Thomas, V. Michie, S. Higgins (P. Karnezis, J. Hogan)
CASH LEFT: $15,300

However, I am 200% sure that I won't be able to afford this team  :P

Awesome! I actually reckon its really good, but you may have to downgrade Karnezis & Higgins to rookies to afford it.

Yeah, I had to pick them in order to fit in Ablett and McKenzie. If I went Ablett to Murphy and McKenizie to Waters (if 100% fit), then I'd upgrade both of those guys to maybe Martin and NicNat or something.

If Higgins is fit, I think he could be a good pick. Make some cash, then offload him during the byes :)

It's extremely likely I'll make cash by offloading Ablett to Murphy or a rookie, and using the cash to afford this team, and upgrade where necessary.

Hanley + Pavlich vs Martin + Birchall

Tough call. I honestly think Martin won't be a forward next year if that makes your decision any easier. Really not sure about Pavlich though, I'd have to see how he goes pre season.

Get an extra 90k with Hanley/Pav as well...

Will definitely be easier if Martin doesn't get FWD eligibility

I see Jobe being a top 5 midfielder next year. There's a chance I'll end up switching one of my defenders for Waters (if he's 100% fit), and swapping one of Sloane/Fyfe/Cotchin to Ablett.
Cheers

Really liking the look of this

Defence looks solid, love Scotty Thompson and The Cannon, very unique picks
Mids look fantastic, Sloane as a POD looks decent, don't think he'll be a top 8 mid however, but he could break out and go 110+
Rucks are standard, no problems though
Forwards look good, as I said on Vin's post, Higgins is a liability, you'd have to monitor him over preseason to make sure he is ready and right to go, would chuck Karnezis in there as a replacement if Higgins goes pear shaped. Liking Pav and Gunston, two very good picks.

Overall mate, you've done a good job, not sure if this is your latest team or not, was posted a little while ago, but it looks good anyway.

Few little things I'd change up but other than that well done. Good luck for 2014 mate, you'll do well!

Cheers wato

Yeah, think the cannon can go a lot better next year with a full pre-season
I think Sloane could go big, and he's really unique. Not 100% going to start him though, but I really really want to :P
If there is any doubt at all with higgins in the pre-season, he is out. i'm hoping he lasts until his bye, has made some good cash, and i can offload him to a premo. There's no doubt about his scoring ability

Thanks for the feedback :)

Wato has pretty much said it all mate, really like the pick of Sloane as I have said before, generally does not get a tag and never will be a regular target as long as Dangerfield is around so could go nuts next year, he finished the year extremely well too. One thing I would change is Fyfe > Selwood, Selwood will be the first or second best in the competition next year.

Forward line and defence look very good, nice work there. As for the rucks, I don't like Leuy as a pick because of West probably playing. Wouldn't go near any rucks that play in a team where the two ruck strategy will be used, it kills their scoring ability.

Nice work mate!
Title: Re: Dave's Legends - 2014
Post by: GoLions on November 25, 2013, 08:55:52 PM
Yeah, Fyfe-->Selwood sounds good. Will see when final prices and everything is announced
Leuey will kick goals up forward, he's a great ruckman, and he gets possessions around the ground. Granted, I am probably quite bias, but I see him going top 3 in the ruck department. Only person I would drop him for is probably Goldy, but there are doubts over whether he'll go the entire year without a break, or the probably more likely option of Daw/Currie playing alongside him.
Title: Re: Dave's Legends - 2014
Post by: Vinny on November 25, 2013, 09:05:05 PM
Fair enough mate, yeah that worries me about Goldy but I think there is more risk with Leuy than Goldy. Lucky Ive got my bias under control for SC otherwise Gibbs, Murphy, Walker, Simpson, Docherty & Judd would be in my team.

Made a few changes yet again, been very busy procrastinating uni assignments  ;D

TEAM NAME: Dave's Legends
DEF: J. McVeigh, S. Thompson, T. McKenzie, M. Suckling, B. Waters, S. Edwards (K. Aylett, F. Roberts)
MID: S. Pendlebury, J. Watson, R. Sloane, T. Rockliff, D. Beams, L. Dunstan, C. Beams, M. Crouch (A. Morabito, J. Martin)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, T. Goldstein (D. Currie, L. McBean)
FWD: A. Fasolo, N. Naitanui, D. Martin, D. Thomas, M. Pavlich, S. Higgins (V. Michie, J. Hogan)
CASH LEFT: $38,500

If 100% fit, Waters is locked. Any doubt and he's gone.
Think Watson is underpriced and will go top 8 mids. Expect Rocky, Pendles, Beams all to go top 10. Sloane I think can definitely go top 15 (possibly higher) and is worth the risk.
Gone for set and forget rucks this time
Dusty may lose DPP, and will possibly drop for Karnezis if he does, and will use cash to bring in another defender

Tear it to shreds ladies

Note: IDGAF about rookies
Title: Re: Dave's Legends - 2014
Post by: Vinny on November 30, 2013, 05:00:35 PM
It looks really good mate.

I know you said you don't give a flower about rookies but you only have 38k left. With not many good rookie options for example in defence. You will probably be forced to pick players like KK and McDonald who will cost like 40k more than the average rookie so that's why I think there is no way you can afford this. Take the rookies into account slightly, haha.

But yeah, like I said. Other than that, it looks very solid. Maybe downgrade Edwards or something. Plus when the real prices come out, I have a good feeling you will only be able to start one of Higgins or Fasolo.
Title: Re: Dave's Legends - 2014
Post by: GoLions on November 30, 2013, 05:05:08 PM
Yeah, I'm happy to drop a forward to a rookie or something to make everything affordable, likely NicNat or Dusty if one loses FWD eligibility. My rookie choices will 99% be based on who is named round 1 :P

Cheers Vinnamon

Nice team...looks well balanced/lots of depth. Understand your choice of Sloane and comes down to $ as well but I'd prefer another top range mid (Selwood) and find the coin by downgrading a discounted type (Waters  would be logical choice if injured to a rookie) and use extra cash to upgrade elsewhere too.

I'm really hoping Rocky can be picked in the forward line, because then I'd probably do a downgrade somewhere, put Rocky forward, and bring Selwood into mids.
I really think Sloane can take it to another level next year, he was one of my first 5 picked when I did my first fanplanner team, and has not left my side since. And until the last few days, no-one else had him which meant he was looking like a nice POD.

Cheers for the advice. Think my team will change a fair bit once prices and DPP are finalised, haha :P

If any of the injury prone players have a single doubt about their fitness prior to round 1, then I won't be starting them.
Fasolo is cheap, and McKenzie should do even better than last season. He didn't have a full pre-season which he will have next year, so should lift his average by at least 5 ppg IMO.

And which players do you classify as unique? I see Sloane and Scotty T. Sloane I've already spoken about, and Thompson isn't set in my side, could easily become a Birchall, Hibberd, Hanley, etc.

Cheers Sparkles

Stupid DPP business messing with my shower.

Thinking of making these changes;
OUT: Goldy, Thompson, Daisy
IN: S Mitchell, Dangerfield, forward rookie

NicNat gets moved into rucks. Can't be flowered messing around with rookies. Everyones talking about their prices being increased, but I don't believe it will happen in SC, and if it does then the salary cap will likely be increased as it did in DT.

Only thing Dave is I think Martin and Hogan may be premium priced this year so that will be an issue of it does occur.

With Eagles managing Nat atm maybe just replace him with another prem forward.

I just cannot see the rookie prices going up without our salary cap being increased. If they did go up, we'd get an extra 1 million or so, yes? Could always just downgrade nicnat to a rookie if he's not 100% as well if the cap isn't increased maybe? I think I might just leave it as is until everything is 100% confirmed...

Cheers Ringo

I will be too Dave but just out of interest O'Meara last year in DT started at $108,500 in DT and according to the leaked prices Martin is priced at $268,300 and Hogan at $265,600 matching the price of Tom Boyd 1st draft pick of $265,900, So my point is that if SC follow this strategy we can expect both Hogan and Martin to be a similar price to be Boyd not the $115k. This applies whether increase in cap or not just another change.

Oh ok, I understand now. In that case, of the forwards I currently have, I think I'll drop 2 of Daisy, Dusty, NicNat, Pavlich; and replace with Danger and a rookie. That should make me at least 200k. May drop Goldy for Sandi as well, so another 300k or so there. That should be enough then if SC follows suit.

Or I just won't start the expensive rookies. The whole point of your rookies is for cash generation, and if they're starting at 250k, that's at least 100k less that they'll be earning you. I'm not gonna fiddle with it now, but if this is the case, I think I'll start with cheaper roookies who are named round 1, and likely to play a lot of games (assuming any of these will exist at all).

I also think that Michie is only a Mid this year and Martin is an expensive player to have sitting on your mid bench.
Title: Re: Dave's Legends - 2014
Post by: GoLions on December 09, 2013, 10:36:11 PM
Yeah I saw that the leaked info has Michie as mid only. I think I might leave it until everything is confirmed, because I don't wanna change everything around only to find out that some stuff may have been wrong. Martin would more than likely be in the starting 8 mids, I just haven't been bothered to switch the names around :P

Cheers johnny

Had a fiddle with the updated prices, thoughts?

TEAM NAME: Dave's Legends
DEF: J. McVeigh, S. Mitchell, T. McKenzie, B. Waters, M. Suckling, L. McDonald (D. Gardiner, J. Kolodjashnij)
MID: S. Pendlebury, J. Watson, T. Rockliff, R. Sloane, D. Beams, J. Martin, C. Beams, L. Dunstan (M. Crouch, D. Garlett)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, A. Sandilands (D. Currie, R. Lobb)
FWD: P. Dangerfield, D. Martin, M. Pavlich, S. Higgins, P. Karnezis, L. McBean (M. Honeychurch, L. Taylor)
CASH LEFT: $19,700

Def: Really wanted Scotty T in defence, but would have to drop McVeigh or Mitchell for him
Mids: Happy with midfield. Sloane I think will go to another level next year
Ruck: Really wanted Goldy and Leuey in my rucks, but had to go with Sandi as he was basically all I could afford
Fwd: After Pavlich, forwards are still undecided on which rookies and discounted players will make my starting team. Guys like Clark, Fasalo, and Hogan could come in for players suck as Higgins and Karnezis

Nice Team here GL

Like most i assume you had trouble getting the right structure with the changed prices.  You have done a solid job here nice structure,

Just ensure your rookies and cash cows are playing from round 1. (Lewis Taylor is coming back from an injury and training with the rehab group).
Also keep an eye on bock if named as at $196k has great cash generating potential.

Hi GoLIONS
You Have a fairly with a few risks up forward.
Backs Solid no changes neded
Mids: I also like the Sloane pick think he will outscore Thompson this year and be the second best mid behind Dangerfield at the Crows.
Rucks: Like the Pick of Leuenbergerger don't see him in many teams so could be a unique pick.
Fwds; This is where there is a Risk/Reward the payers such as Higgins could burn you but if they can stay on the to make you enough money then you have made money to upgrade to a potential premium.

Overall  You have done well when picking this team although you may change it before roound 1 i give it an 7.5/10
Title: Re: Dave's Legends - 2014

Cheers guys. Just managing to pick 30 players within the salary cap was difficult enough, haha.
Will keep an eye on Bock, Ringo. If he's named round 1, probably a 99% chance of making my team. Thought there were doubts on that though?
Any rookie not named round 1 will not be in my team to start off with. They're there to make cash, not warm the bench :P

Yeah johnny massive risks in the forwards. I don't really like it tbh, but you have to go cheap somewhere. The more I think about it, the more I kinda want to bring Bock in. If he's named round 1, he's in I reckon.

First upgrade or 2 will definitely be in the forward line  ;D

Once again seeing what I can do, and made these changes;

Watson-->Daisy
Higgins-->Fasolo
Sandi-->Goldy

Leaves my team like this:

TEAM NAME: Dave's Legends
DEF: J. McVeigh, S. Mitchell, T. McKenzie, B. Waters, M. Suckling, L. McDonald (D. Gardiner, J. Kolodjashnij)
MID: S. Pendlebury, T. Rockliff, R. Sloane, D. Beams, D. Thomas, J. Martin, C. Beams, L. Dunstan (M. Crouch, D. Garlett)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, T. Goldstein (D. Currie, R. Lobb)
FWD: P. Dangerfield, D. Martin, M. Pavlich, P. Karnezis, A. Fasolo, L. McBean (M. Honeychurch, L. Taylor)
CASH LEFT: $18,500

Would basically mean I tank round 8 with 15 players there already

Fasolo would probably be Bock actually

CASH LEFT: $41,800

Forwards will be finalised closer to round 1, except for Danger and Dusty who are locked in. Pav is basically a lock as well.
Goldy could become NicNat to give extra cash in order to bring in a better forward or defender. Could even become Sandi instead of NicNat depending on fitness.
Not convinced with Daisy at M5, but he is amazing value. Hoping he averages 100-105 and can be upgraded after making some good cash.

Thoughts guys? I'm personally leaning towards the first option at the moment I think, although will bring in Bock for Higgins most likely. The midfield just seems too weak in the 2nd option. Argh, this is doing my head in.

As The Backs are  the same i can't comment on them.
Team 1 has the better midfield
As for the Rucks you would have to go with team 2 as Sandi is injury prone and it has been a few years since he played a full season.
As for your forwards i would replace Mcbean with Kersten. Team 1 is also risky because of Higgins if he can stay injury free for the first till the bye he can then be cashed in.
I would only just go with team 1 but there isn't much in it  and that is because of the one extra premium mid.

Did a bit of tinkering after what happened with Waters...

TEAM NAME: Dave's Legends
DEF: J. McVeigh, S. Mitchell, G. Birchall, T. McKenzie, M. Suckling, L. McDonald (D. Gardiner, J. Kolodjashnij)

CASH LEFT: $5,800

Just watch rookies GL. Keep an eye on Benn Lennon and if named get him in forward line.

Also remember McKenzie has had a set back as well.

Forward line is a little thin in my opinion with Fasolo at F4. Risk here but go with gut.
Title: Re: Dave's Legends - 2014

Will monitor McKenzie throughout the pre-season and if in doubt will probably try to turn him into a Scott Thompson.

Heard Lennon has been doing ok as well, will keep my eye on him.

If McKenzie is not fit for round 1, may drop him and Birchall for Thompson and a rookie, then upgrade a forward to someone like Motlop or Gunston.
Title: Re: Dave's Legends - 2014

- I'd look at steering clear of having Mitchell, Birchall and Suckling down back all taking points off each other. Birch is probably the weakest link. I'd recommend a straight swap to Hanley which would make your back line immensely strong.
- Mids are super too. I really like the unique selection of Sloane. Sound structure. Perhaps a little too unique if such a thing exists; I doubt Watson, Rockliff or Sloane will be in 10+% of teams to start the year. Could work, could backfire.
- Pairing Leuy and Sandi is a huge risk. Both have well publicised ongoing injury concerns. I suppose you'd know a bit more about Luey than I, but I'd be surprised if he played 20+ games this year. No doubting his scoring potential, just his durability. I'd also pencil in Sandi for only 15ish due to Freo nursing him through the season, which when you consider that Currie and Lobb are highly unlikely to play, could leave you with some headaches in the ruck department throughout the season.
- Forward line is a touch weaker. Still not sold on Pav myself, but I can see the appeal. I haven't heard how Fas is going pre-season but I wouldn't think he'll be a walk-up-starter for Collingwood with their new inclusions over the last year and a half, such as Ben Kennedy, Patrick Karnezis, Tim Broomhead, Kyle Martin, Sam Dwyer and Nathan Freeman all vying for that half-forward role.

Overall a solid effort GL but still a working progress ;)

Yeah I chucked Birch in as I couldn't afford anyone better :P
I think Rocky and Watson will both be in the top 8 mids by the end of the year, and are both reasonably cheap seeing as I believe they will average around 115 or so
Leuey will get more time up forward which I think will lead to more goals. Scored a few goals just as our only ruck last year, so think goals kicked will increase this year. I'm confident he can stay on the park, but if there are any doubts before round 1, he may become NicNat. Sandi is in as I couldn't afford anyone better. Really wanted Goldy. Agree with him being a massive risk. Ruck rookies aren't set in stone (same with rookies in other lines)
Fasolo, Bock etc are only in if named round 1. Don't think Fas will play every game, but if he plays the majority up until his bye, could upgrade him then. As I said in my previous post if McKenzie struggles in pre-season will find a way to bring in someone like Motlop or Gunston

Cheers Cumpy :)

cheers for giving your time to rate my team mate.

DEF: Really like it mate, McVeigh and Mitchell I just cant bring myself to start without them, birchall and McKenzie are good PODs. Good depth as well with suckling at d5.
MID: very strong. Like the POD pick of Sloane too mate, having 5 premos there will give you an edge. Good rookie choices.
RUCK: Leuy is a good pick, should improve to 100+ after a full pre season. Sandi a good cash option.
FWD: Not bad, not really sold on pav though, will average higher than last year but only just in my opinion. As a Collingwood supporter theres a lot of competition for spots and I don't really see fas getting consecutive games together, he will play but I don't think he will on a regular basis. Bock a good choice along with rookies.

Overall its a pretty good team mate, very strong defence and mids, solid ruck, my only worry is your forward line but hopefully for your sake it pulls off, 8/10

Love Sloaney, think he'll kill it this year :D
Would rather a Goldy over Sandi, but alas I have no more cash  :-\
I think Pav will push for top 5 forwards, but that's just my opinion. All the cheaper options in my forward line aren't set in stone. If they're not named round 1, they don't make my starting team.

Looking good mate.

Defence looks sound, good choice of premiums, one rookie is also the way to go.
Mids look good, 5 premiums or there about with good choice of rookies. I'm not sure on Sloane but that's upto you mate.
Very strong rucks, you won't need to change them all year hopefully. Doesn't compromise your team very much also which is surprising.
Forwards look good, I like your mid pricers and choice of premiums.

Well done mate looking strong.

Sound team now man!

- Love the inclusion of D Swallow down back. Is set for big things this year IMO.
- Not sold on Scott Thompson for some reason however. I just feel like he has very little upside. I dunno though, his track record is pretty sound. Maybe I'm just frightened by the 'key defender' tag.
- Excellent mids. Unique but effective I'm sure. Daisy is way too cheap to miss so that's a quality inclusion. I personally wouldn't have dropped J Mart however but sacrifices had to be made for...
- Todd Goldstein! Excellent inclusion. Makes your team so much stronger than the last time I saw it. Goldy is a super safe selection and allows you to pair it up with the more risky selection in Luey, who is a worthwhile risk considering his upside.
- Solid forward line too. Danger + Martin are set and forget selections. Paddy D a must have. Clark and Bock have a ton of upside too, and considering a bit of a lack in forward rookies, are pretty smart selections.

I prefer this team Davo. Excellent work.

Just dropped Sloaney and Dusty for Ablett and Gunston. That's right, I gave in. I brought in the little master for the first time (I think) in this entire thread of my updated teams. My forwards are a bit weaker, but I now have Ablett who will be the 2nd highest scorer this year ;)

TEAM NAME: Dave's Legends

Yea not easy to keep Gazz and Pendles without weakening other lines.

I would try and keep Dusty if possible.  If gut allows maybe one of Goldy or Berger to Sandy and then reinstse Dusty for Pav or Gunston. (Not sure on sums for Pav but I have a feeling Pav may play closer to goals with the transfer of Gumby so may not score as much)

Just need to finalise rookies as well and also if Bock is playing round 1.

Nice team and good luck.slow

I see a debate on selection!

Well Rory Sloane will rise this year same with dusty! Ablett isn't worth his price tag IMO, Gunston will rise aswell.

So
Sloane 113 and Martin 108
V
Ablett 123 and Gunston 93

You could trade in someone much better than Gunston who could average 100+ when you upgrade and you'll end up getting gaz 100k cheaper.

Hope this helps!

Def: No Problems as it has 4 strong premiums and just the 1 rookie
Mids: Pretty impressive midfield with the only question mark is Sheed can he break into the Eagles 22.
Rucks 2 strong Probably only need the one maybe downgrade Goldstein to Sandi.
Fwds: Upgraade Pavlich to Martin
With these changes you will really have a strong and a team that will be hard to beat at the moment i give your team a 7.5/10

Forwards are very slim mate, I think Simpson is not worth his price tag in defence. Try to get a better F4 than Billings, perhaps you might need to reconsider having both GAJ and Pendles from the start? Difficult to have both without really weakening all other lines.

I would not want to be relying on Garlett to win me a match up.

He could be very vestable.

Agree with MC that Simpson seems to make your defence very expensive from day 1.

If you're planning a weak, wait and see forward line then OK I guess.

Love your mids and rucks 1 and 2.

Who would you guys suggest to replace Simpson?
If there are a few backline rookies named round 1, I'll drop Simpson or Swallow for that rookie, and upgrade a forward to Pav (or other), which would make my forwards a lot better. Just more comfortable playing an extra forward rookie than a defence rookie atm I guess though

More tinkering yet again, dropped some top end rookies and managed to strengthen my forwards. Ideally would prefer someone better at R1, but quite happy with this team for now. 25k left in the kitty.

def: Love the premiums you have selected. Like the POD in S.Thompson. Interesting choice of rookies but we will never know how good they are till the nab games!

mid: Pretty good mid. Again, love the premium players you have got there. Like that you have Garlett in your mids as it allows you to swap with players in your forwards who can also play in the mid.

ruck: Standard ruck. Hopefully Lobbe can finish as one of the top 4-5 ruckmans in the game.

fwd: Good to see that you have both Dangerfield and Martin in there. IMO, Gunston will step it up with the absence of Buddy. Bock has the potential to pump out sccores as Brent Staker did last year at a rookie type price. Not a fan of the Rohan pick however.

overall: Pretty good team GoLions! Good to see that your money has been evenly distributed.

Goodluck!

woah... no Lewis Taylor? Out of everyone, you were the last one that i expected not to have him ;) maybe taylor for rohan?.. Thats completely up to you! Goodluck again! :D

I don't think Taylor will be getting early games, will probably play later in the year though. Only just brought in Rohan, although depending on rookie choices he could become a Billings or Fasolo.

Thanks mate :)

Made a few more changes, gone with a 4 premium strategy in the mids and think this is looking pretty good. 6.4k remaining

Note: Fasolo, if not named, will become a Rohan, Billings, Bock, etc. (whoever is named round 1)

Got much cash left GL

Got a concern on Beams whether he will play round 1 mate so need to have plan B,

Apart from that and no Zorko ;) not too bad at all

Just personal but not keen on Roughy and looks like he may be doing some ruck work and know he suffered from this in 2012.

Yeah not much left Ringo, only 6.4k

If Beams isn't named then can bring in guys like Polec, Sheed, etc.

Haha I'll have my eye on Zorko but can't see him being a top 10 forward at this point

My F3 spot is still up for grabs, honestly have no idea who to put there  :-\

Liking the look of this team, although still unsold on Buddy. First time he has been in my team all year, but someone like Gunston will suit my bye structure a bit more. However, Buddy is less of a risk as most people will be starting him I would imagine.

I have 6.9k left to spend, so not a lot.

Backline is a weird one. Thinking for the future, the ideal back line IMO would be Mitchell, Hanley, McVeigh, Walker, Bartel and then one of many options (incl. Thompson and Simpson). With your current structure you'd be missing out on potentially two (if you don't upgrade Suckling) of McVeigh/Walker/Bartel, which is far from a good thing! Those guys must be in your team by the end of the year and your current structure doesn't really make it easy, unless you're super confident about Thompson and Simpson stepping up into that 105+ territory.
Title: Re: Dave's Legends - 2014
Post by: GoLions on February 26, 2014, 02:46:55 PM
I think Bartel will drop this year (not sure if he'll average 100). Not sure on Walker, and with Mitchell/Simpson/Suckling locked in, it would kill me in the byes. McVeigh I feel is overpriced, but aim to have him in my team by the end of the year. I personally think Simpson will be a top 3-4 defender, so locking him in at that price. I think that apart from Mitchell, and probably McVeigh/Simpson, the next 9 or so defenders are going to be quite even, so I've gone for Thompson and Hanley as they suit my bye structure extremely well.

I really like your team, looks neat. I was just wondering what are your thoughts (as a brisbane supporter) on Hanley, Beams & Leuenberger?

I've had Hibberd locked since day dot just about and im struggling for a replacement, I too believe McVeigh is somewhat overpriced, I aim to have him at some stage but not from round 1, Im worried about Hanley copping the tag, and his average against the best sides (considering they have a tough start).That just leaves the group around 401k-436k, Grimes, Watts & Pearce, don't think any of them will be top 8 defenders come years end. PS this defender spot has to be from R10 for bye structure. Try and convince me to get Hanley! haha  :-\

considering Tyson to Beams to free up 35k.

Leuey is the only ruckman 500k+ that i am considering, would love your thoughts, and the influence West may have on him

Cheers. Very good side.

Hanley- Against teams outside the 8, he tonned up in 8/12 games, with some massive scores in there. Other 4 games were 83, 71 (injured in 2nd quarter, sub already used though), 80 and a 55 (subbed). So, excluding his injury affected games, he averaged just over 114 against teams outside the 8.
Against the top 8 teams, he only tonned up once, which is a worry. But, this included scores of 93, 91, 95, and 86. He also copped a bad knock against geelong which highly impacted his TOG. And his 49 when tagged by Macaffer  :-\
Ended up averaging a touch over 86 if you take out the game against the Cats where he copped the massive bump from SJ.
So excluding his injury affected games, he went under 80 twice for the year (one of which was a 79).

Beams- Is probably competing with the likes of Aish and I think Robertson (and someone else I'm forgetting) for 2 spots in our team. At the moment I'd have him in our best 22, and has proven before that he can score well (last 3 games in 2012 he scored 80, 103, 115). If he's named round 1, I think he's just about a must-have.

Leuenberger- Tonned up in 10/20 games, which is pretty decent considering it was his first year back from doing his achilles. Went under 80 3 times in the year, with scores of 79, 79, 58 (no idea what happened there). So he should be a very consistent ruck IMO, ideal for the set-and-forget strategy. Also has a habbit of kicking goals, kicking 9 goals and 9 behinds for the year. With West joining the team, I see him getting more goals up forward (which means more points). This should see him increase his average by a couple ppg, along with the fact that he will be fitter this year in comparison to last year.

Just remember though, I am probably a tad bias haha :P

Cheers for the write up mate, great work.
Hanley - im just not convinced, the stat's don't lie, it would be a lot easier if they had the likes of GWS, Melbourne & St.Kilda early on!
Beams v Tyson - Tyson's JS has me leaning his way, will be an important part of the dee's midfield, though, as you mentioned, beams scoring potential is quite good for a rookie priced player, probably better than Tyson's. If i new he wasn't going to get dropped or vested i would have him over Tyson. Wait and see, but Tyson for now.
Leuenberger - Seriously considering, like you said, should be fitter than last year, will only improve. If i go with a prem/mid price strategy, it will be Leuey I think.

Sorry to get off track, back to rating his team!

Very minor changes. 7.1k left. If there is a cheaper rookie named round 1 (such as Robertson or Crouch) I'll drop one of the more expensive guys and upgrade Gunston to JJK.

All rookie selections (in particular fwd and def) are 100% dependent on whether those players are named round 1 or not.

Def: Very nice mate. Good variety of players here. With Suckling at D5 it is very strong. Near perfect defence. Not sure if Clurey will play. Just watch for Langdon, Langford etc..

Mids: Once again, very good. I like the 4 prem strategy. I think there are rookies good enough to make you a load of cash to upgrade later on. Rocky is a gun and should go 115+. Obviously you make the choice between Watson, Rocky and those guys in that price range.

Rucks: I'm not too sure about Berger. Lot of people think he will kill it this year. Will definently be top 5 ruck though! Sandilands is a lock.

Fwds: Definently your weakest line but not too bad. I had JJK at one stage but not anymore. I think Buddy is a lock though so try get him for Gunston. Impey won't play but look at McCarthy from Geelong.

Very well done overall. Good Luck

A number of people seem to be doing these, so thought I would as well. This is the team I started with;

(http://i.imgur.com/o6tPaAk.jpg)

Went for the "guns-n-rookies" strategy, with my only mid-pricers being Suckers and Sandipants. Scored 2174 in round 1.
I have 62k left, won't be doing any trades this week.
For the VC loophole I'm going with Dusty, and if he doesn't score 130+ I'm giving the C to Pendles who seems to go well against the Swans. Will give Rocky the C if Dusty kills it.

Possible future trades (after round 2) I am looking at are Clurey to Georgiou and Rohan to Higgins, providing the latter 2 both do well this week and the former score poorly again. Apart from that I don't think there's any other correctional trades I'm looking at making.

Round 2

As you could imagine by looking at my team, it was a week to forget. Scored 2038, giving me an overall rank of 42,265  :-\
Positives: Pendles(C), Lmac, Tyson, Ellis, Polec, Sandi, JJK
Unfortunately all those are owned by basically everyone, except JJK
Negatives: Everyone else :P

Trades
Mitchell and Hurn could both possibly be out for a few weeks which really sucks, so may have to offload one of them. However I still may stick with my original plan of Clurey to Georgiou and Rohan to Higgins, not sure though...
If one of these guys is named I'll probably hold on to the other, if they are both out I may offload one for Swallow

geez bit of a dilemma with Mitchell and Hurn isnt it i think i'd go Clurey to Georgiou then you can play LMAC and Georgiou to replace them

i guess Rohan to Higgins is a good option or you could trade Mitchell or Hurn to Swallow
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014

Looks like Hurn to Swallow is locked in, can't hold onto Hurn for a month (or more).
Will probably have to miss out on Higgins, as I would say Clurey to Georgiou is a much more worthwile trade as it gives me slightly more cash generation, and leaves me with a lot more cash in the bank. Hopefully one of my forward rookies can score well this week.
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014

Had a change of heart, as I'm not 100% convinced on Swallow maintaining a 95+ average for the entire season, so thinking of bringing in Hanley instead (and still doing the Clurey-->Georgiou trade). Could come back to bite me in the ass if Swallow keeps scoring like this for the rest of the year, and leaves me with less cash, but I dunno, just not sure on Swallow. Can always trade Suckling to him after his bye if he's still killing it.

Round 3

Score - 2376
Weekly Rank - 2710
Overall Rank - 14,179

Was a pretty good week for me, with not a lot to complain about. Made the changes of Hurn to Hanley, and Clurey to Georgiou. Wasn't a lot to complain about tbh. Unfortunately I lost some points by giving Rocky the VC over Ablett, so probably should've scored 2403 instead.

Looking at next week, Leuey is starting to become a bit of a worry, and Mummy is absolutely killing it. I may downgrade one of Rohan/Michie to a cheap mid (trading Rohan would mean subbing Taylor into the forward line), and then I would have enough cash to upgrade Leuey to Mummy. Not sure though, will probably change my mind on the matter plenty of times in the next few days :P

Definitely time to move Leuey on GL. Im a big fan of his but its clear that as long as Brisbane go with West in the side Leuey isnt going to score big. Im having a similair problem with Goldy. If Currie gets named this week ill probably pull the trigger on Goldy > Mummy while I can

After a bit of thinking (and seeing this suggestion in another thread), I reckon I'll downgrade Leuey to Hampson who is named this week and should make plenty of cash. With my other trade I'll be offloading Michie to either KK or Kelly, leaning towards KK as it gives me DPP with the backline. Then next week I'll have plenty of cash to turn either Rohan or JKH into Fasolo, depending on their performances this week.

I'm not 100% convinced on Mummy though, hasn't gone up against any quality rucks yet. Plus, getting Hampson means I'll be able to get Fasolo at F6 next week without doing a double trade.

I realized that my only non-playing guy is King, which means I'm gonna have to have Pendles VC, and will likely give Gaz the C FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR as he kills it against the Hawks

Yeah, I'll probably upgrade a defender. Really want Thompson, Hibberd, or McVeigh. Also looking to get Petrie right after his bye, should still be very cheap then
Hanley said to be only 2 weeks now, and I'm happy to play Langdon for that period of time

So miss out on Lloyd? Lloyd is 90k cheaper or something, and there's a good chance he can score the same as Fasolo. Not sure what his JS is like though...

Hanley ---> McVeigh

Rohan ---> Crouch via Taylor DPP
Impey ----> Fas

then next week

JKH ---> Lloyd (if he pumps out another decent score)
Hanley ---> McVeigh

That's what I'd do I think Dave.
I reckon I've just about locked in the Rohan-->Crouch trade
Definitely considering Impey-->Fas...would really improve my forward line

Only thing is, if JKH gets a full run this week and scores reasonably well, I won't want to trade him as he'll be set to make a lot more cash, which is why I'm hesitant at getting both Fas and Lloyd. Would it work if I maybe traded Ellis to Lloyd next week if need be, moving Taylor back to the mids? Depending on how all these rookies score this week of course...

Really don't like the idea of trading Hanley to McVeigh next week, as I'd essentially be trading him out because of a 1 week injury at that point (he's only out for 2 weeks).

Scored 2096, flowering terrible. Decided not to get Fas which was stupid, cost me around 90 points. Was going to sub Crouch on for Ellis but didn't go through with it as I wasn't sure if Crouch would start as sub or not, whereas I knew Ellis wasn't starting sub. That was another 100 points. Gave Pendles the C as he usually destroys North (had Rocky VC), lost 30 points there. So could've easily scored 2300+ :-\

Trades this week are Ellis to Lloyd via Taylor DPP, and Tyson to Robertson. Will get Cutler in for Langdon (or other, depending on how my defence rookies go this week) next week. After doing these trades I will have around 700k to play with. Looking at grabbing Jelwood after his bye, and getting another premium defender. Also Watson after he bottoms out. Dunstan, Lmac, Polec, Suckling all possible candidates to go for these premos.

we've all made slight mistakes. but you still got almost 2100. which is solid.

DG langdon/langford to cutler next week too.

Been incredibly busy this week, planning on downgrading Lmac to Cutler, and either downgrading Ellis to Hallahan or upgrading him to probably Watson. Thoughts?

Went alright considering some of the players I had (in particular Mitchell). Scored 2316 for the round. Much better than the last 2 weeks ::)
Weekly rank: 10,259
Overall rank: 16,040

Current team:

(http://i.imgur.com/RCsebcc.png)

21 trades left, 530.9k remaining

Unsure on trades for this week. Mitchell has to go, thinking McVeigh is the best person to bring in. If Langford is out, he'll go too. Hampson goes this week or next.
Not sure on which rookies are the best options. I'll probably be making 2 downgrades during the byes, want to get them right. Hallahan is still relatively cheap, but not sure if he'll score well enough to make decent cash. Was originally set on O'Rourke but doesn't look like he has very good scoring potential atm. Acres could be an option, as could Hartung. Probably forgetting others.
So is it worth jumping on one of Hallahan/O'Rourke this week? Or waiting a week or 2 for guys like Acres/Hartung? Or even grabbing one of them this week even though they're not on the bubble.
Premiums I want to bring in are;
DEF - McVeigh, Hibberd, Hurn, Swallow
MID - Jelwood, and 2 of Sloane/Steven/Ward/Barlow/Fyfe
RUCK - 1 of Sauce, Big Will, Goldy
FWD - At least 1 of Zorko, Parker, Nroo (I may trade JJK to another one of these guys in a few weeks)

The plan is to bring in 2-3 defenders, a ruck, a forward, and a mid (or 2) during the bye period.
Players I will look to trade are; Mitchell, Suckling, Langford, Taylor, Hampson, Impey

So any advice regarding exactly what to do this week? Sorry for the massively long post haha :P
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014

Haha long read there.

SMitchell to McVeigh
Crouch to Acres

Then hopefully your Impey sub 10 score doesn't make your best 18 haha. You could even use another trade to turn Impey to a premium.

Leaves you a shower load of cash to go Langford, KK and whoever to premiums.
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014
Post by: GoLions on May 06, 2014, 06:17:22 PM
Yeah was kinda thinking of offloading Crouch, but b/e is still only 34 :-\

I'm starting to think I might just keep Impey all year, as it just doesn't seem worth using 300k+ on upgrading him.
Langford will go next week now that Hawks have said he'll be back this week. KK will stay until his b/e gets too high, might be able to straight swap him for someone like Hurn :D

Cheers vinnamon :)

Just remember if Crouch says gets 80 his price will not rise much so that is one of the reasons I am going Crouch to Hallahan this week if Hallahan named as he has a negative B/e and will make more cash than Crouch.
What is your intentions with Georgiou keeping him as well?
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014

How about Mitchell out - Hanley to defence - 5 defenders play this week.

LMc can go after his bye with his high BE and become ? Swallow? (Gives you 5 def playing round 9)

Hole in mids left by Hanley -> get best mid you can. 6 mids play if Dunstan plays. Ellis?? assume he is out, otherwise trade as will lose money I think.

Dump Rohan and move Taylor forward - grab Acres or Hallahan - check round 9 bye numbers to help decide.

Aim to get Jelwood in 2 - 3 weeks' time -> GAJ, Pendles, Beams, Rocky, this week's gun (Joey???), Jelwood and 2 spots left.

After this week get Jacobs or Goldy once Hampson tops out and one of them bottoms out.

All good.  ;)

Hmmm true Ringo, but I do like the points Crouch has been giving me haha. Whoever I trade him to will likely be a starter for a number of weeks. Keeping Georgiou for now, although could potentially upgrade him this week if I want to Hibberd

Hey GL

Mitchell to McVeigh is a great option so consider that sold.

I would wait a week and see what Acres churns out this week before going Crouch to Acres - makes no difference to profits so unless you're planning 3 trades for next week then wait...  I just typed out a bunch on leaving Crouch in but to be honest I haven't sold myself on the idea! It works in my team to hold him but with all your lions in the mids and not a lot of stored value in rookies you may have to make some tough calls. I feel like the more valuable rookies should be culled first simply because they have the stored cash (KKolo and Langdon) but their BE is better than Crouch so I just don't know... Keep in mind though that Langdon has had a couple of big scores which are inflating his average, whereas Crouch had the first game which is dragging his down - in terms of points scored on the field I would rather Crouch than Langdon. So in terms of ceiling yes Langdon has pulled out the big efforts but is averaging 65 without them, whereas Crouch is averaging 80 without his 45 game... I feel like maybe Langdon out, Hanley to def and a mid in might be a good idea, but like I say not too sure...

Ok so with Ambrose in I've decided that Impey can flower right off, even if it only nets me like 70k. Trades for this week are;

Smitch-->McVeigh
Crouch-->Fyfe
Impey-->Ambrose

This leaves me with 244k, so next week will look at trading;
Langford-->Swallow
Taylor-->Acres
Polec-->Jelwood

Should have around 20k after this I think

And the week after that;
Robbo-->Hartung/other rookie
KK-->Hurn
Hampson-->Goldy

Leaving me with about 50k or thereabouts, 12 trades, and 3 upgrades remaining (1 DEF, 1 MID, 1 FWD)

Team will be;
DEF: McVeigh, Simpson, Hanley, Swallow, Hurn, Suckling (Cutler, Georgiou)
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Rocky, Beams, Jelwood, Fyfe, Watson, Acres (Hartung, Langdon)
RUCK: Goldy, Sandi (Currie, King)
FWD: Danger, Dusty, Gunston, Roughy, JJK, Lloyd (JKH, Ambrose)

Think I'll trade Suckling instead of Langford next week. Langford should make quite a bit more cash now and Suckling will bleed a little. Can maybe then trade Langford to Hurn the week after instead of KK as KK should still be a decent D6 until I upgrade to Hibberd (most likely)

I've decided a similar thing. Trade Suckling this week and the Langdon/Langford combo can be my D6 until they've maxed out and then will upgrade.

Was a good week somehow, despite only having 18 players and therefore having to cop bad scores from Robbo, Gunston, Ambrose, Suckling. Fyfe served well as my VC loophole in his first game in my side :)
Scored 1845
Weekly rank: 2574
Overall rank: 4754

Trades this week will be;

Suckling-->Swallow
Robbo-->Acres
Hampson-->Goldy

This leaves me with 207.4k left, and 15 trades

Next week I'm looking at;

Cutler-->Hurn
Polec-->Jelwood
Taylor-->Hartung

Current team after this weeks trades

That plan looks good as.

Lucky you got KK and Langdon who have made so much cash.

Trades are becoming tight haha.

At least it allows you to finish your team ASAP.

You aiming for Top 500 finish?

Also was going to say, I think it is the best move to trade Cutler to Hurn instead of Langford byes aside.

Georgiou is no longer cover cause he doesn't play. Cutler is gone at some point which you would know more about than me.

Whilst Langford has awesome JS and may last the whole year even haha.

Yeah so glad I took KK over Kelly and Buckley all those weeks ago :)
Aiming for top 2500 right now, although will see where I'm at after the byes. Don't expect to do too well in round 10.

Also was going to say, I think it is the best move to trade Cutler to Hurn instead of Langford byes aside.

Yeah I am trading Cutler to Hurn, not sure if you saw that or not in my post :P
Basically for the exact same reason you just mentioned. Georgiou is gonna sit at D8 for the entire year probably, and so I need a decent rookie at D7. And Langford obviously has fantastic JS, dunno how long Cutler will last tbh.

Yeah sounds good man, I actually think you could make Top 1000 but yeah if you are going to struggle R10, that might be a problem.

Exactly, damn Georgiou.

I wish I got KK but it would have screwed in byes anyway haha.

Good luck dude.

lol, I spend about 10 mins on each comp a week, and then like 2000 hours on SC. STarting to focus on AF more though as I'm 100th and wanna get a top 50 finish if possible

I got a 1600ish score in DT in round 1 I think it was, so could've been ranked so much higher!
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 15, 2014, 05:06:04 PM
Haha top 100 is good as.

AF is too buggy and shower to play for me.

Yeah when it opens after the rounds, I make trades choose captain and never look back until Thursday night then just check people are playing and that's it.

I scored 2299 in RDT one round and came 13th for the week but as predicted I did FA the next week. Becoming a pattern.

I think I'm in for a good week this week. :P

Wasn't a bad week, could've been better though. Scored 2038, with a weekly rank of 18735 and am up to 3956 overall.

Current team is;

(http://i.gyazo.com/224b69120c54ed6de1f9e4b779f26b2a.png)

Trades planned for this week are;
Cutler-->Hurn
Hampson-->Goldy
JKH-->Hartung/Cameron (not sure which)

Will leave me with 65-70k remaining and will be bringing in Jaensch next week to complete my defence.

Thoughts? I'm not convinced on Hartung's JS however he will probably be M10 for the rest of the year so might not matter. If I get Cameron this week then I'll likely get Shenton next week. If I get Hartung this week, then I get Cameron next week.

Definitely getting Goldy over the other rucks such as Sauce and Minson, think he'll average 100+ from here on in, whereas Jacobs I think will drop his average a bit as he comes up against better ruckmen. Will be looking to pick up Zorko in a few weeks too when he bottoms out. One of SJ, Joey, Sloaneyyyyyyyy, Steven, Barlow will likely finish off my mids in about 3 weeks.
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 19, 2014, 06:50:14 PM
Those trades look good man. I'd probably get Minno over Goldy just cause Goldy did not look like tonning up but a last quarter effort got him there otherwise was meh.

I did not think of Shenton, now looking at this. I reckon Cameron this week and Shenton the next. Disregard my other post I think.

I'd dodge Zorko, I'd prefer Buddy I think haha. But otherwise it looks great man. Good to see you are climbing.
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014
Post by: GoLions on May 19, 2014, 06:57:34 PM
Goldy hasn't been that bad. He flowered his shoulder round 1, and was rucking with Currie a few rounds after that which we all know destroys his scoring. Also got smashed by Sandi. I dunno if Minson is worth the extra 30k as I think they'll probably end up around the same end of year. Definitely been considering him though, and almost got him the last 2 weeks running.

Haha alright, Cameron then Shenton!

I really hate Buddy hahaha. Zorko did crap cause he had gastro, was the 8th highest averaging forward before this week I believe, and is going to be around 360k or so in a few weeks time. He's also my favourite player in the AFL. I just can't say no to that. Will probably sideways my worst performing forward to one of Parker/Gray closer to finals as well.

I dunno, my recent trade-ins of Swallow, Jelwood, Fyfe, Watson, McVeigh have all been good so far. Hopefully the trend continues!

Cheers Vinnamon :)
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 19, 2014, 07:00:15 PM
Yeah I know but he has not been overly impressive but then again neither has any ruck bar Jacobs who has had soft opponents.

Haha that is what I think but it could go either way man.

Hahaha yeah same, I hate alot of forwards though. (CLOKE, Hawkins, Buddy, JPod, Petrie etc.) Haha that is fair enough.

Very nice man, no worries.

Not a big fan of Burgoyne tbh. I have no idea why, just have a gut feeling he's gonna drop off. Hopefully it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass!

And not set on trading Hampson yet, but also don't want him to leak cash. If Roughead was playing this week it would be so much easier :-\

I think I might just do the trades I had planned before Roughy got suspended and Lloyd dropped

Georgiou-->Hurn
Hampson-->Goldy
JKH-->Cameron

Leaves me with something like 40k off the top of my head

Jaensch will come in for either Langford or KK, depending on BEs and cash available
Will also bring in Lennon most likely for Lloyd

Team will then be;

DEF: McVeigh, Simpson, Swallow, Hanley, Jaensch, Hurn (Langford/KK, Cutler)
MID: Ablet, Pendles, Selwood, Rockliff, Fyfe, Watson, Beams, Langdon (Acres, Taylor)
RUCK: Goldstein, Sandilands (Currie, King)
FWD: Dangerfield, Martin, Roughead, Gunston, Kennedy, Lennon (Cameron, Ambrose)

Will likely make a forward upgrade the week after that, and bring in possible SJ once he bottoms out in price

shower week, ended up scoring 1560. Overall rank gone out to 7336 now

Also, went with Hartung over Cameron, simply because Hartung was on the bubble, and I wanted only one of Cameron/Lennon

This weeks trades are;
Langdon-->Jaensch
Lloyd-->Lennon (if Lloyd is still out)

Leaves me with 115.6k in the bank and 2 upgrades remaining

(http://i.gyazo.com/677c3e1395075fcb7abe4bc91c2d7785.png)

Upgrading forwards next week. Either Langford or KK will be traded out, Hanley will move back to defence, and Taylor to the midfield. May also do Acres to Beams if I have the cash.

Hmm, I could instead bring in Goddard instead of Jaensch. Would complete my mids, and I'd still have KK at D6 and can maybe bring in Bartel in a few weeks time or something. Thoughts?

Yep get Goddard man, KK is in some good form so I'd much rather him on the field at D6 for now and a premium averaging 117.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was thinking. It's pretty much Goddard vs Jaensch + 100k, and I definitely prefer Goddard there

Is it too rage-trady to offload jjk and roughy to lecca and zorko? I'm fed up with both of them.

Surprised you did not keep the faith with Zorks GL. I would get rid of Roughy though as he will not score big at all as he will always get No 1 defender whereas JJK can throw in the big game.

I never had Zorko haha, started with all of these forwards, and really want to bring him in this week as he is at his cheapest just about and our draw opens up now.
JJK has just been so disappointing. Last year he was getting a lot more possessions each game, often around 13-20 or thereabouts. This season he struggles to get 10.

I just really want to cut my losses with both of them tbh.

Is it worth getting Tex over Lecca this week, which would mean next week I could easily do KK-->Bartel? There's a good chance though that Tex may remain as F6 at least until finals, which I'm not too sure on...

Will you just cut your losses with JJK now he is out this weekend?

If you go JJK --> Tex can you still afford KK --> Bartel?

Nah, about 40k short.
I've locked in JJK-->Zorko this week, so it's just whether I keep Roughy or not.
I could offload Langford to Litherland instead of Roughy to Lecca/Tex, but don't know what Litherland's JS is like

Good week, scored 2415 :)
Weekly rank: 1459
Overall rank: 4283

8 trades left

Thinking of going Watson-->Zorko, Hartung-->O'Brien, which will free up 328k so that next week I can hopefully trade Taylor-->SJ, KK-->Hibberd and team will be complete with 4 trades remaining
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014
Post by: GoLions on June 13, 2014, 11:31:35 AM
Ok guys, question

Watson-->Zorko is locked in

For my 2nd trade, should I do;
KK-->Hibberd
or
Hartung-->O'Brien

If I trade KK, then next week I will do;
Hartung-->Spina (for fwd/mid DPP with Shenton or Taylor)
Shenton/Taylor-->premo mid under 550k

If I trade Hartung this week, then next week I can do;
KK-->Hibberd or Ibbo
Taylor/Shenton-->SJ or maybe someone else, will be very tight with cash if I get Hibberd
I may not even be able to afford both Hibberd and SJ next week tbh, so if I want Hibberd, it's safer to get him this week I reckon. Ibbo would be a massive POD though and should be around 420-430k next week

Thoughts?

I'd do KK to Hibberd man. Hartung isn't going to lose cash so he can wait one week and you can do the trade where you bring in a DPP player. Looks good otherwise!

Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014

I would hold KK. Hartung might not be losing cash but there are no rookie options in the mids where you can make 80k while dumping Hartung. Plus GC have the Eagles so KK has the ability to score a 90 while Ibbo should drop in price. The high B/E is a risk, but it is one maybe worth taking.

And were you reading my idea of looking at Ibbo? :P I am monitoring him this week since Rico said he might be playing the 3rd tall with no Johnson/McPharlin.

Yeah KK can score well...just don't want him to score poorly and have Hibberd kill it, as Hibberd is my preferred option

I've basically been looking at some of the cheaper defenders as backup, such as Shaw, Hodge, Murphy. Then in one of my SC Draft leagues I saw Ibbo as a free agent and I picked him up. And then I thought I'd check out his price and he's getting pretty cheap with a BE in the 120s I think? So he's one of my backup plans if I end up keeping KK this week :P

I still don't know which option to go with though  :-\

Ok doing Hartung to O'Brien

If I end up choosing Ibbo next week, then I'll also have like 580k or so for a mid, so won't have just SJ to choose from

Had an alright week, ended up scoring 2203 thanks to my main men Goddard and Hurn. Rocky as C was dreadful haha, ZOB covered for Beams. Taylor stepped up to cover GUNston. Hanley, Fyfe, and Pendles were also very good. KK was a disappointment, but he's gone for Hibberd now :D
Oh and Parker was also not great, but a lot of people would have him anyway

Weekly rank of 15041
Overall rank of 4159

Trades for this week

KK-->Hibberd
Shenton-->SJ

(http://i.gyazo.com/5f410b2ddc7c46eab7d6caf393cf7176.png)

Team is now complete with 4 trades left and 26.4 remaining

Very happy with my defence. Taking out their injured games, Hanley is actually averaging 100.7, and Hurn is averaging 104. So essentially 5/6 defenders have a 100+ avg

Midfield I'm also extremely happy with. Goddard averaging 117.9 without his sub game, so all mids averaging 110+, 7/8 with a 115+ avg

Goldy finding some form in the rucks, and I expect that to continue with both Daw and Currie out of the side. 110+ avg from now on would be fantastic :)

Forwards are a bit weak, and when it comes to finals the plan is to do a downgrade somewhere, and upgrade either Roughy or GUNston to Gray, depending on who is going worse

Scored 2400 even with Zorko, Hanley, and Simpson

Moved up to 3050 overall or something like that, which is alright.

NO TRADES THIS WEEK! :D

Although one of Litherland or Cutler will most likely need to cover Hibberd

Probably Ablett VC into Rocky C as well :)

Question vinnamon; once finals come around, I am going to trade one of Gunston, Zorko, or Roughy to Boomer. Would it be worth going Ambrose to Kersten next week, just to give me the cash? Or hold on to trades, and just get whoever when the time comes?
Title: Re: GoLions16's SC Diary 2014

Nah man, I'd just wait one week at least. Gives one week less for an injury to happen and you having to use another trade. Plus next week Kersten will be on the bubble and you will be sure. On top of that, Ambrose BE is only 47.

Hey man, team looking pretty nice atm! I would consider going Taylor to Kersten next week and then a couple of weeks later look at going Acres/O'Brien to a Premo FWD/MID to give you cover across the two lines. That way if one of your onfield premo's miss a week or two you won't have to waste a trade on them

Taylor to Kersten gets me 200k or so, and I already have 25k, so 225k all up. If ZOB can get to 200k+ in a few weeks, I might be able to get someone who's alright. If not, I could consider trading him to someone like Honeychurch, and then upgrading Ambrose?

Yeh I'd push Zorko to M9 and keep an eye on guys like

Chappy @432k with BE 97 and ave 93 - has just had a rest and a split bye coming up as well
Pav @478k with BE 96 and ave 92 - Not likely to be rested with split bye coming up
Lecca @427k with BE 92 and ave 90 - ave 100 unsubbed and possibly more mid time with Scooter out?
Dahlhaus  @443k with BE 90 and ave 94 - form is up and down a bit lately
Rioli  @440k with BE 80 and ave 93 - injury prone though but can score
Wingard @423k with BE 57 and ave 83 - sub affected score in there and would need to jump on soon before he gets too pricey
Motlop @378k with BE 7 and ave 72 - has been scoring seriously well lately (returning to full fitness?) and cheap as.
SMartin @315k with BE -10 and ave 103 - Scoring well with Leuey out but Leuey isn't that far away.

I reckon most of these guys would be decent at F6 and some you could change with Zorko depending on opponents.

Scored 2228 this week, due to me downing a few donuts :P

Dropped out of the top 1500 this week to go to 2032 overall

Here's my team, with just 3 trades left and 106.5k in the bank

(http://i.gyazo.com/8664937f49c016475d0a565e3248aabe.png)

Ideally, would like my last 3 trades to be something like;
- Ambrose-->Wood (From Freo, as they have mostly games late in round for emg loophole purposes) +191k
- Taylor-->Gray/Boomer -150k
- Litherland-->Mitchell -140k

It will be borderline as to whether that works out or not. Should be fine if I get Gray, probably won't work if I get Boomer. Could also just trade Roughy instead of Taylor, but with Roughy's potential to score big, might be better to keep him

Thoughts? And should I risk making 2 trades this week to get Mitchell at his cheapest? I have an easy game in my main league, so pretty set on holding, but want to make sure that's the best decision

Looks damn good, but it's awfully risky to leave yourself with no trades heading into finals.

Definitely think you should keep Roughy. He's an excellent loophole player as he can go large.

Also wouldn't worry about getting Mitchell this week as he's playing the best team in the competition so his influence will probably be subdued.

Kinda hoping Cutler doesn't come back so I can use him for the emg loophole. Plus, If I trade Cutler, then I have basically zero chance of getting Boomer.

I dunno, will see how all players involved go over the split round

I'll hold this week, and reassess in 2 weeks time, as my final league match will be tough and will basically decide whether I finish 2nd/3rd, or drop to 4th, and considering the guys in 1st and 2nd atm, I would much rather not to play 1st haha

2569 this week, including a Sandi donut
Moved to 1485 overall
3 trades left

Gotta get rid of Hibberd, 106.5k in the bank, team hasn't changed since the last pic

Can afford any defender except Malceski. Guys I'm looking at are: Mitchell, Birchall, Hodge, Bartel, and Fisher
Plan on using my last 2 trades in week 2 or 3 of finals by downgrading Ambrose to a rookie (likely Spencer White for loophole purposes), and upgrading Taylor to Boomer

Thoughts on who the best replacement for Hibberd would be? Cheers guys

Always a risk of injury for any player. I am looking to upgrade Cutler to Hodge in finals with my last trade and moving Suckling to D7. (I Have had Hodge in DT for most of the year and have not been disappointed)/

Went with bloody Smitch hahaha

Scored 2475, overall rank now 1188, so close to that top 1k

Swallow and Gunston could both miss this week, hopefully Smitch is back

Thinking Gunston to Boomer if he's out, especially if it's 2 weeks

Reasonably good week, scored 2523 which takes me up to 1016 overall. SJ and Hurn were the only real let downs.

Only the 1 trade left after going GUNston to Boomer last week, and 24.7k in the kitty.

Roughy suspended is annoying as my only cover is Taylor. Only have the 1 league match this week after getting into 4 prelims, but it's the FF Elxam Stars league and I really wanna win that :-\

I could do Roughy to Gray but think I might hold...

flower all bench cover as well now due to everyone getting dropped or injured
