Title: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on November 25, 2013, 06:13:12 PM
Blue Boys - Coach Vinny

Starting off:

Finally thought I'd give this a crack, in this thread I will keep track of my team and thoughts behind my moves. Hopefully I can keep it up to date throughout the year. Couldn't be stuffed putting it into the flanplanner again as I know I can afford it on there. Obviously when the real prices and things come out but here is the first draft.

Few things I think will happen:

- Rocky will lose DPP, yet I am picking him regardless.
- Not sure on Dusty keeping DPP either.
- Expecting Gibbs & Goddard to lose it but McVeigh & Simpson to gain it.

Draft #1

D- Jared McVeigh, Kade Simpson, Michael Hibberd, Grant Birchall, Matt Suckling, Matt Scharenberg.
     Luke McDonald, Kade Kolodjashnij.
M- Joel Selwood, Scott Pendlebury, Jobe Watson, Tom Rockliff, Dayne Beams, Dom Tyson, James Aish, Luke Dunstan.
     Jack Martin, Dayle Garlett.
R- Todd Goldstein, Nicholas Naitanui
     Jack Lesle, Liam McBean.
F- Matthew Pavlich, Lance Franklin, Dale Thomas, Dustin Martin, Shuan Higgins, Viv Michie.
    Jesse Hogan, Mitch Thorp.

Obviously rookies aren't set in place, this will do for now, don't care about nailing rookies yet. Few things that might change is the ruckmen, don't know if I will go Goldy yet but don't see a better option, not convinced by Sandi, HMac or Grundy. Still not 100% sure on whether I will go Ablett or Watson but I might be forced to go Watson for cash. Have not worked out byes and shower but I think I'm fine at this stage.

Thoughts appreciated. :)

Very good start Vinny for a first up attempt all lines look strong , good to see a team with 2 quality rucks can't really fault it at this stage no point making comments about rookies at the moment well done 9/10
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014

I think the ONLY change I would personally make, would be to swap Buddy for another forward (possibly Gunston), but that's just me. Reckon you've just about nailed it Vinnamon :D
Maybe Hibberd to Scotty Thompson or Hanley (if he keeps DPP)

Would probably give it a 9.75/10

Cheers mate, yeah rookies will be confirmed come Round 1. :)

Thanks Dave :)

I am pretty keen on Hibberd as he is Mr Consistent, not to keen on Hanley but Thompson may be an option.

Yeah hmmm, not sure on Buddy either. Dont know mate, maybe Motlop, he did well at the end of the year. Cheers! 8)

Post by: GoLions on November 25, 2013, 06:28:18 PM
Yeah, I just don't see Buddy averaging above around 95 with the amount of players at the Swans who should also go really well. Motlop definitely an option, think he'll go really well next year

Love it Vin! Great choices in defence, love the pick of Simpson but not totally sold on Hibberd (not sure whether he will be a top 6 defender next year but that's just my opinion). Good rookie selections mate!

Midfield looks like a ripper, pretty much the same as mine, hey? Haha, I think you're missing one rookie in there too mate, looks like you only have 7 on field.

Rucks are good, not sure Goldy is the way to go next year (one can only feel that Majak and Currie will get more of a run, on top of Goldy's workload that wasn't managed very well last year, but he has gone over 110 in two of the last three years so I could be wrong)

Forwards look good, only pick there is Higgins, (he should wrap himself in cotton wool and never set foot on a field again), soooooo injury prone.

Overall mate, it's a bloody good team on paper, much improvement from this time last year! Haha, good luck for 2014 I think you're gonna do extremely well mate.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on November 25, 2013, 07:48:13 PM
Haha thanks heaps mate, as always you got a cheer from me. 8)

I am quite confident Hibberd will go well next year, he was super consistent in 2013 and with a better Essendon side, expecting Top 4 from them by the way, think he will go from that early 90s consistency to perhaps a 100-105.

Haha yeah think it's the same, just chucked in a rookie from your team, Luke Dunstan. Great minds think alike! Doubt he will be there Round 1 though. If I can afford Claye Beams, might put him in but yeah don't know yet.

Goldy is an interesting one, as you said his scores depend on if Majak gets a go or not, the new interchange cap might mean he will. Still don't know, not going near Leuy, McEvoy, Kreuzer or Mumford because two ruck strategy may come into play for the teams they play for. Never thought I'd say this but maybe Sam Jacobs! :o

Hahaha, knew someone would say that. I only need him to play until the bye, surely that can't be too hard. Well it's either him or Fasolo or even a rookie. Not sure at this stage, hope he finally can string 10 games together straight if its possible.

Thanks champ! Hahaha hope so man. :)

I think I am going to get rid of Buddy now, not sure who to go with though. :P

Motlop or Gunston?

Praying Walker somehow gets D/F, if so Andy is coming straight in! 8)

I'm pretty sure I have Gunston in my team currently, so I'm gonna say him

Good first draft Vin, structure is solid.
No offence meant but i find it funny that GoLions tried to talk you out of Hibbo because he won't finish top 6 (I don't think he will) but then suggests Gunston as a forward. Big punt to suggest he will finish top 6.
Hard to predict who will finish top 6-8 in each position until DPPs are confirmed. Midfielders who can be used back or forward should score the best of course. Guys like Bartel, Walker, McVeigh, Mitchell, Rocky, DMartin. Ruck/Forwards like Cox and Nic Nat can score well too.
I'm working on a team with that in mind at the moment but may need to wait for SC to open. Hopefully only about 3 weeks away.
I'm sure our teams will be way different come round 1, but hey we're having fun!
Best of luck Bud!

Not taking anything away from Hibberd, think he'll go really well next year.

I also never said Gunston would finish top 6, however I think he has potential to do better than Buddy, and I have him in my team myself.

Nice team Vinney. You didn't say how much you had left. I'd stick with Hibberd too. The only change I'd suggest is Buddy out and Christensen in. Best of luck and cheers mate   ;) ;)

Blue Boys - UPDATE

So:

Okay, so I am going to make a few changes to the team. Buddy is coming out for Motlop and I will change a few of the rookies. Will add it to the OP and also list the bye structure for my team. :)

Changes:

Buddy > Motlop
Aish > Sheed
Thorp >  Kersten (Not confirmed, just changed because Thorp did not get picked up.) :(
Garlett > Sheed

New team:

D- Jared McVeigh, Kade Simpson, Michael Hibberd, Grant Birchall, Matt Suckling, Matt Scharenberg.
     Luke McDonald, Kade Kolodjashnij.
M- Joel Selwood,Scott Pendlebury, Jobe Watson, Tom Rockliff, Dayne Beams, Dom Tyson, James Aish, Luke Dunstan.
     Jack Martin, Dom Sheed.
R- Todd Goldstein, Nicholas Naitanui
     Toby Nankervis, Liam McBean.
F- Matthew Pavlich, Steve Motlop, Dale Thomas, Dustin Martin, Shuan Higgins, Viv Michie.
    Jesse Hogan, Shane Kersten.

Nice Team Vinny -

Def: Do not think Scharenberg will get early games but keep an eye on. Like the defence with relying on one rookie only each week. Like the pick of Simpson and Suckling should generate cash if he is that price.
Mids - No argument here - Martin and Sheed imo are walk up starts so no worries with rookies.
Rucks: Set and forget If Nat keeps DPP may be worth looking at another ruck and moving him forawrd but not necessary,
Fwds, Nice choices here Higgins will be in most teams if he is that price as he will need to play only 7/10 games to generate a strong cash improvement. Kersten I think will get opportunities at Geelong this year with the departure of Pods,

Thanks mate, yeah even though I said I don't care about rookies, they look okay. Yeah if Schaz isn't playing, I shall trade him out. I doubt I'll have the cash but if I do, maybe to Waters but not sure. Would even out my byes a little aswell. Again, cheers Ringo. :)

Great Team Vinny

Def: I agree with Ringo regarding Scharenberg think Seedsman & Williams are ahead of him.Bring L.Mcdonald onto the field if you still want Scharenberg just leave him on your bench otherwise replace with Zac Jones
Mids: Excellent wouldn't change anything.
Rucks: Two Strong Rucks Nic Nat should be back to his best and injury free.
Fwds: Good Fwd line Motlop should improve even more this year.

Think you have made the right changes just need to find a replacement for Scharenberg unless the Magpies have some injuries over the Preseason to there Backs. Rate your team an 8.5/10

Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014

Nice Team Vinny

McBean is a forward only in case you did not pick that up so need another rookie ruck.
Have you factored in that Hogan and martin may be around $210k (That is my estimate so may be more).

Considering myself whether I can fit Daisy in the mids but dependent on final prices.

This year Vinny with the byes being early I am looking at what rookies or mid priced cash cows have Round 10 byes and working that into the equation. Also with them early you need them to be playing from Round 1 for maximum gain if trading during byes.

Premiums sound but see if you can get a little more balanced bye structure, Basically in Round 8 you are currently relying on all remaining players playing on the field.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on December 08, 2013, 02:08:21 PM
Thanks Ringo!

Yeah I need to sort out the bye structure. But it is difficult, hoping JMart and Hogan aren't at premium price tag. :-[
Would make things even more difficult, haha. I have found a way to get Daisy and stuff in as long as rookie prices aren't inflated.

Will post it up in a second. :)

I have made some changes to this team and will post it when the FanPlanner is updated. Just so I can be sure I can afford it. I won't be having Jack Martin & Waters at this stage I think :P

Might save me a lot of time if I just borrow it!  ;)

9.13/10.

Only concerns are

Hibberd - sanctions?

Roughead - will he be better value than say Pav now that Buddy is gone and one would have to think Bigboy will ruck more than That skinny guy who kept hurting his knee and getting the red vest.

A lot of round 8ers.

Haha thanks Doc. :)

Yeah I am not sure on Hibberd, it is either him or Scott Thompson.

Roughy was just there for the Round 9 bye as I am weak in that round but we will see.

Need to change some things and fix up my structure. :P

not many prems with rd 10 bye

I would look at swapping either Jelwood or Pendles to Watson

overall your bye structure will probably change as you start to lock in rookies at this stage it is more getting bye balance with the prems

I don't really see the point in swapping one of those guys for Watson. I'll use Pendles as an example.
Pendles will average let's say 10ppg more than Watson by the end of the year. He is also one of the top 3 captain choices basically every single week. So this could potentially be a difference of 20ppg. Over the course of the year, excluding bye rounds, that will equate to around 300+ points, possibly more depending on how many times you have him captain. Having Watson instead of Pendles in the bye rounds will mean gaining ~40 points by playing Watson instead of a rookie in Pendles' bye round, but then losing ~50 points by playing a rookie instead of Pendles in Watson's bye round.

TL;DR bye rounds should only make a difference if you think the players will average basically the exact same points.

hmmm - good point about the captain - hadn't thought of that - even up to rd 7 that = 140pts. I have a sneaky suspicion that C/VC rules may change this year to eliminate the loop hole - if that happens it would cause a total rethink on strategy

as far as Watson instead of rookie but then rookie instead of Pendles - you would upgrade rookie to Pendles after rd 8 thus eliminating the loss.

If I had the cash to upgrade a rookie to a premo mid such as Pendles, then I'd probably be making the upgrade regardless of who I have. I see your point though.

Just a different take on ppg 'lost' with Watson and whoever vs Pendles plus a slightly cheaper whoever

Pendles 120 + 120
Say Jelwood 110
Whoever (cheapy) 80 -> total 430

Watson 110
Jelwood 110 + 110
Whoever 90 (will have more to spend on this guy) 90 -> total 420

OR

Use Ablett as captain and don't lose anything.

Not sure this is 100% but Pendles over Watson as captain isn't just double the difference in ppg.

Having said all that, I'll be getting Pendles over Watson every day of the SC year.

Probably won't make much of a difference, but I see Watson going 115 maybe, and Pendles 125+ definitely. And I'm assuming you don't have Ablett, so those captain points make a bit of a difference I would say. Yes it isn't much, and you can spend extra money on a possibly better rookie (really is a luck of the draw sometimes IMO), but I see Pendles going number 1 in SC and to not have him this year could be suicide.

He basically never goes under 100 as well, so also takes off some of the stress you get when playing SC :)

you dont want many, you want to load up on round 10 rookies so you can get rid of them during the byes. Ideally round 10 and 9 rookies are what you want more of and round 8 premos.

as you shouldnt be trading out any round 8 players.

Vinny youy basically have my team so 9.8/10

Yeah when the rookies are set in place that will change the bye structure quite alot.

I am waiting for the FanPlanner to be updated so I can make some changes. :P

Haha thanks Holz. Pretty similar!

Wow I just realised that the way I have been thinking is that the teams with the Round 8 byes re the teams that play. Fuccck. Hahaha.

I agree with the strategy of having Prems for round 8 and rookies in Round 10.  With the byes so much earlier this year yo need your rookies to be earning as much cash as possible prior to cashing in so it makes sense to load up on Round 10 rookies that are playing. Say you had a round 8 rookie playing from round 1 prices are not adjusted till they have played the three games so effectively you are only getting 5 price increases for Round 8 rookies compared with 7 for Round 10 rookies.

the other big thing is whoever you bring in will have a bye upcoming. when you trade round 10 players to 9, 8 or round 9 to 8 your bringing in someone who has already had a bye.

Nice team mate, I'm just wondering why most people aren't looking at Polec and X.Ellis as cheap midfield options? I've heard they are fairly cheap and likely to play plenty of games.

Blue Boys - UPDATE

Recap: Thought I'd get this updated try keep going throughout the season, haha. As in talk about my trades, thoughts and all that shower.

I have started pretty terribly for the season mainly due to one bad week.

Round 1 Rank: 11,921 (2,237)
Round 2 Rank: 55,001 (1,917)
Round 3 Rank: 34,819 (2,277)

If it is possible, I would like to still finish in the Top 5k.

The Team after Round 3:

Cash:$174,900 - Trades Left: 28

Proposed Trades:
I reckon the main issues in my team are Caddy and F6.
IMO, Daisy will come good plus he has Melbourne this week and Goldy will get back to his best when Currie gets dropped which might happen this week. Not worth chasing Mummy anymore IMO, he will not average 150 for the whole season with tougher opponents.
Caddy still has a BE of 59 or there abouts so he is definitely still able to rise and hopefully he can pump out a 90 and make some cash.

Rohan is a flowering spud, McCarthy is not a great scorer but JS seems good but I am not sure I can afford to field him.
McDonough is not getting games.

I was thinking if McDonough is not named this week, I could upgrade him to Fasolo a week early and play him. That is if he is not sub.

So: McDonough to Fasolo.

I have 179k so cash is not a worry. Any other thoughts or feedback would be sweet. :)

Are you just short of Merrett?
Even if he can't keep scoring tons he is as likely to score well as Fasolo or any other cheaper player. Also don't think his price will drop any time soon. The worst performing mid pricers can be upgraded to true premos when the cows fatten. If there are any standout premos.

Would prefer to see Fasola this week and then look at his B/e. You could go McDonough to Lewis Taylor. Taylor's price has only increased to $133k due to sub in first game.  Has a negative B/e again this week so will immediately make cash for you and with Brisbane's Injury problems can see him in Brisbane's best 22 for a few more weeks. Taylor also has a DPP which may be handy down the track for upgrading etc.  Your choice though,

Thanks man, was considering that. Might give Caddy a couple weeks and hope he increases more so I can get say a Parker/Rioli.

Cheers Ringo. I'd get Taylor but will he be alright to play at F6? He scored 65 and 45 unsubbed, will he just keep scoring that or improve to solid 65s each week? My main goal here is to field more than Rohan's spud 20-45. In the long run would it not be better to go Fasolo for scoring ability and just wait a week. Or are you suggesting getting Taylor for McDonough AND Fasolo for Rohan?
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Ringo on April 09, 2014, 12:36:22 PM
hard to say on that one Vinny.  Would have to go with gur.  It would depend on how Taylor is used by us.  Will he be used in that small forward role to give Zorko midfield time or will he be used down the wings as he has been in the last two games.
Personally not convinced on Fasolo in Pies best 22 but in saying that have been getting smashed so may be.  Watch and see.
So basically it will boil down to who do you think will score the best for the next 4 - 6 weeks and who will make the most cash to allow upgrade if that is what you are looking for as your F6.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on April 09, 2014, 05:16:42 PM
Yeah thanks Ringo, it's tough. I'll decide when team sheets come out. If McDonough is named I'll hold if not Fasolo or Rohan come in.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on April 10, 2014, 08:16:45 PM
Okay, seeing McDonough and McCarthy were both not named, I am deciding to go McDonough to Taylor.

Taylor can play at F6 and I can loophole him with Rohan using McCarthy. Hoping for a 65+

Next week I can go Rohan to Fasolo and Caddy to Rioli or someone similar which is extremely tempting.

Blue Boys - UPDATE

Recap: Pretty good week compared to some, managed to avoid all the carnage pretty much. Only real spuds, Daisy, Tyson, Langdon and Rohan had to be copped for Caddy.

Round 1 Rank: 11,921 (2,237)
Round 2 Rank: 55,001 (1,917)
Round 3 Rank: 34,819 (2,277)
Round 4 Rank: 16,210 (2223)

Climbing steadily which is a good sign and have no rucks and that to deal with.

The Team after Round 4:

Mitchell, Simpson, Jaensch, Suckling, McDonald, Langdon. (Langford, Georgiou)
Ablett, Pendles, Rockliff, Beams, DThomas, MThomas, Tyson, Polec. (Dunstan, Ellis)
Goldy, Sandilands. (Currie, King)
Dangerfield, Martin, Roughead, Caddy, Higgins, Taylor. (McCarthy, Rohan.)

Cash:$192,900 - Trades Left: 27

Proposed Trades:
In bold are my real problems IMO: Caddy, Daisy & Rohan.

The moves I am looking at are:
1) Rohan to Fasolo
2) Caddy to Pavlich

Then next week, I can go: Daisy to Lloyd VIA Taylor and use the 257k to upgrade anyone anywhere. Probably one of the boys in defence to prepare for the Round 8 bye better.

Thoughts appreciated. :)

Haha thanks guys.

Dave, reasoning for Pav is that he will be a top forward, this is as cheap as he is going to get. Guys like NRoo will eventually come down in price.

Plus it allows me to do, Daisy to Lloyd & Langdon to Hibberd next week.

Watson comes in the week after for Matt Thomas.

Dunstan to Hallahan
McDonald to Hibberd

The Team after Round 5:

Mitchell, Simpson, Jaensch, Hibberd, Suckling, Langdon. (Langford, Georgiou)
Ablett, Pendles, Rockliff, Beams, DThomas, MThomas, Polec, Robertson. (Taylor, Hallahan)

I'd consider that KB, thanks man, but the thing is I have 8 defenders playing in Round 8 if I do that. I need one more elsewhere on the field to make 18 for Round 8. I feel it is a waste if I bring in a player to sit on the bench in R8, it is just the same as bringing in a R8 premium IMO.

Thoughts?

Hoping Honeychurch, Morabito and O'Rourke can show something in the following weeks.

Sorry mate, I did not word that right.

So right now I have:

Mitchell, Simpson, Jaensch, Suckling, McDonald, Langdon. (Langford, Georgiou.)

In Round 8, only guys playing.

Mitchell, Simpson, Suckling, Langford, Georgiou and ???

Say I got Cutler there for McDonald and brought in Hibberd for Langdon next week. Cutler would just move straight to the bench.

So I brought Cutler in for R8 just to bench him which is the equivalent  of bringing in a non-playing player.

Make sense, haha?

Yeah they did man. I don't wanna risk Lloyd being out and having to cop a donut plus McCarthy is dead weight anyway.

So I've gone:
McDonald to Hibberd
McCarthy to Hallahan VIA Taylor.

Dunstan to O'Rourke

MThomas to Watson

What's McDonald's B/E? I have another idea, but I am not sure if it will work or not without doing it myself using the DPP's.

You can do the multiple DPP trades to get one player so what if you did something like McCarthy to Cutler using the one trade of McCatrhy>Taylor>Fwds>McDonald>Mids>Cutler in defense and then maybe let me know how much cash you are left with

Alright man. That's interesting, here is the team doing McCarthy to Cutler.

348k in the bank and one trade left for the week.

McDonald has a BE of 70.

Let me know what you are thinking :)

If you really want Murph, get him in now for Dunstan. Even if he scores like crap he is going to go up in price and you gain some coverage in the mids this week if Matt Thomas doesn't play. That sets you up to bring in Jobe next week for either Thomas or McDonald while downgrading where you can.

Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 01, 2014, 08:08:22 PM
flower man, that looks good. Thanks!

Yeah I do really want Murphy, haha. Hoping he can hit at least 80 against Caff this week.

I decided to trade LMac over Dunstan because he won't lose cash and allows me to loophole.

Leaves me 135k.

Dunstan to O'Rourke could be a good downgrade next week.

Appreciate the help dude.

Langford out this week let's you loophole as well. Pies play Friday night so going Pendles into Gaz you can use Langford on the field, Langdon on the bench with the E. I would expect McDonald to hit his B/E against the Suns which is why I suggested keeping him. Also with McDonald having the bye next week he would be the obvious choice to trade out next week unless you planned on keeping Dunstan through the byes, then do it this week
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 01, 2014, 08:17:07 PM
Yeah I might use Langford the emergency loophole because Cutler and Georgiou haven't really shown to be super scorers.

I'll be going Dangerman into Ablett for the loophole this week, Crows have Melbourne so worth the punt I reckon.

That's the thing haha, McDonald is going but both will be out by next week so might aswell save the cash and trade McDonald in case he bleeds.

Thanks man.

Blue Boys - UPDATE

Recap: Solid round but some people killed it so I rose about 4k.

Round 1 Rank: 11,921 (2,237)
Round 2 Rank: 55,001 (1,917)
Round 3 Rank: 34,819 (2,277)
Round 4 Rank: 16,210 (2,223)
Round 5 Rank: 10,157 (2,287)
Round 6 Rank: 21,029 (1,943)
Round 7 Rank: 17,110 (2,268)

This week I have gone:
Mitchell to McVeigh
MThomas to Acres

Leaves this team:

Now I have 19 trades (1 left for the round) and $328,300

Langford and Dunstan need to play for me to have 18.

If Langford is out, I will probably go Langford to Hurn. If not, Daisy to Watson?

Thoughts please? Drop a link to your thread and I'll help out. :)

If you are going to keep Jaensch then how about

Daisy/Dunstan out
Langdon to mids
Hibberd in

Next week Polec to Watson will only cost 50k which is what I am doing
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 06, 2014, 02:33:35 PM
Thanks man.

That is an option but I was planning on keeping Polec until he tops out in R10 or so and grab Jelwood.

If I get Watson this week, I could grab Hurn the next week and play Langdon as my only rookie at D6.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: RaisyDaisy on May 06, 2014, 02:40:23 PM
OK, so if you have Polec to Jelwood planned then Dunstan/Daisy to Watson makes sense

I'd rather get rid of Dunstan though
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 06, 2014, 02:41:33 PM
Yeah, thanks.

If Dunstan isn't named, I will get rid of him over Daisy.

I just need one of Langford/Dunstan to play.

Dunstan is playing this week! :D

Found this, think it went under the radar a little bit in an article about Hickey.

http://www.saints.com.au/news/2014-05-01/hickey-sidelined

In addition to Hickey, round one Rising Star nominee Luke Dunstan has suffered mild concussion from a routine incident at training today and will miss one week.

Wouldn't that give him 1 less player on the field? (assuming Langford plays)

Georgiou out means I have 17.

With my two trades, I can go:

Mitchell to Burgoyne, Hodge, Birchall, Murphy or anyone under 495k.
MThomas to Watson

Not sure what to do with last trade to get eighteen on the field?

Thoughts?
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Noz on May 09, 2014, 04:47:01 PM
In round 10 i see you have 10 players missing with the bye and another 4 in Jaensch, King, Fasolo and Currie who all could not be playing which gives you a grand total of 14 players missing and only being able to field 16

Some trades that might help you in round 10 as well as round 8

Alex Fasolo out for Robbie Gray/Luke Dahlhaus essentially finishes off your forward line and gives you 18 players this week and 17 in round 10

or

Luke Dunstan out for Patrick Ambrose via moving Lewis Taylor to middle even though it gives you another round 10 player it does gives you $147,185 to help you out in following bye rounds. Which will allow you to upgrade someone like a Cutler or Georgiou to a premium defender.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 09, 2014, 04:51:13 PM
Sorry man, I didn't specify, after getting those two guys, I've only got 2.7k

Fasolo will be back in R10, Jaensch is a possible and I plan on trading my way to 18 which should be quite easy there Noz.

Just need to figure out the best way to get one more guy on the field.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Noz on May 09, 2014, 04:56:33 PM
I wouldn't mess around with it too much as i think its a pretty good balanced team and can't see any way to get the 18th man on the field without stuffing it up maybe just go with the 17 this week?  :-\
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 09, 2014, 05:45:38 PM
Yeah thanks man, I might hold.

My opponent this week has 17 playing but a reasonably strong team. If I am doing bad after the first two games, I might consider something like Georgiou to Aylett. I don't know we will see haha.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014

Burgoyne or Walker?

MThomas to Acres and Fasolo to a premium so I have 18 playing?

Fas has to be upgraded at some point anyway?

yeah Matt Thomas can be smashed out.. Why not..

Thomas > Acres
Mitchell > Hibberd
Jaensch > ?

Fasolo surely is a better prospect than Jaensch at lining up next week

Daisy to Acres is still a possibility though.

Suckling to Swallow
Polec to Goddard

Means I have 20 if Fasolo gets up and 19 if he doesn't. Might go Roberston to Hartung depending if he is sub or not.

Thoughts guys? :)

Thanks dude.

Yeah I wanna bring Hurn in somehow and yeah that is why I am considering doing it this week so I can do three next week.

Maybe:

Luke Dunstan to Charlie Cameron/Nathan Bock VIA Taylor.

Tom Langdon/Will Langford to Hurn.

I don't know haha, I have no clue really.

Dunstan to Hurn via Langdon
Taylor to Cameron/Bock
And maybe an upgrade somewhere?

Blue Boys - UPDATE

Recap: Solid round, now I am at 8k. Still hoping to finish Top 3k.

Round 1 Rank: 11,921 (2,237)
Round 2 Rank: 55,001 (1,917)
Round 3 Rank: 34,819 (2,277)
Round 4 Rank: 16,210 (2,223)
Round 5 Rank: 10,157 (2,287)
Round 6 Rank: 21,029 (1,943)
Round 7 Rank: 17,110 (2,268)
Round 8 Rank: 11,313 (2,046)
Round 9 Rank:   8,860 (1,643)

This week I have gone:
Taylor to Cameron
Dunstan to Hurn (VIA Langdon)

Leaves this team:
Swallow, Simpson, Burgoyne, Hurn, Jaensch, Langford. (Cutler, Georgiou.)
Ablett, Pendles, Beams, Rockliff, Watson, Murphy, Goddard, Langddon. (Acres, Hartung)
Sandilands, Goldstein. (Currie, King)
Dangerfield, Martin, Pavlich, Roughy, Higgins, Fasolo. (Lloyd, Cameron.)
13 trades, 300k

Okay so I know have 19 if Fasolo gets up but one trade in the bank.

Next week:
Langdon to Selwood
Higgins to Buddy

Week after:
Fasolo to Parker

Means I have 10 trades and 1 more upgrade required.

Thoughts guys?
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Mat0369 on May 19, 2014, 06:44:18 PM
See if you have enough cash to go Langford>Selwood in a couple of weeks shifting Langdon back again. I think you hold him until he stops tonning up/Fasolo or Lez come back into the side to play a rebounding role.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 19, 2014, 06:48:59 PM
I might but I doubt it. Anyway, the thinking was that Langdon would stop scoring so well this week as I expect Fasolo to come back so, was going to get one more price rise and grab Selwood before he goes back over 600k. Thanks Mat.

Thoughts on the rest of the plan after this week?
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: GoLions on May 19, 2014, 06:53:07 PM
Not sure on Buddy, would prefer most other forwards myself haha

And maybe trade Cutler instead of Taylor? Or does that screw up your bye structure?

Rest looks good, I'll be getting Hurn this week as well. Not sure whether to get Hartung this week or jump on Cameron a week early though...
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 19, 2014, 06:57:49 PM
I can wait one extra week on Buddy and get Parker. I am not really that keen on any of the forwards bar Parker and was never keen on him but he looks good with all the Sydney forwards to support him.

I would but it flowers up my bye structure. Cutler will go at some point though man.

Thanks man.

Hmmm, I'd get Hartung now and Cameron next week but if it is the only downgrade you will need for the next few weeks. Just get Cameron. I say get Hartung because there might not be many other downgrade options for a while. So get Hartung if you need a couple downgrades meaning get Cameron next week. Just Cameron if you need one. If that makes sense, haha.

I'd jump on Charlie though.

Recap: Moved up about 1k which is pretty disappointing and I'm climbing slowly but steadily. If I can finish Top 2.5k, I'll be pretty happy.

This week I have gone: Fasolo to Buddy & Langdon to Selwood.

Leaves me with 11 trades and 51k. I only need one more premium defender to complete my team, Higgins will be a luxury later. So I, pretty happy with this team that's left after this weeks trades. What I need help with is a plan to bring in, McVeigh or Bartel. Any thoughts? :)

Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014

Can you maybe upgrade Langford instead of Fasolo mate? Do have concerns with Fasolo sub risk but if he hits 80 he'll only drop another 15kish and then his BE will be 55 as the that horrible 29 will drop out of his rolling average. If he can pump out the numbers he was before the injury he'll still make you some cash. I still think there is risk involved with him but its worth considering keeping him.

Then again, Buddy is looking good now
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 26, 2014, 04:41:02 PM
That's an option man but in comparison to the forwards where you have Wingard, Buddy & NRoo. There is no options in defence that are any good around that price considering I have Hurn and Jaensch already. I'd really like Bartel for that last position. Yeah that's thing, Buddy looks a bargain with Tipett and that back in the side. Thanks Ric.

Next week, I could go: Taylor to Rookie & Langford to Premium.

The thing is, I'm not sure there is any forward rookies available next week. :-\

Maybe change the order of my trades, grab Shenton this week and move either the Selwood in or the Buddy in to next week?

So many options hahaha.

Post by: RaisyDaisy on May 26, 2014, 04:54:14 PM
Coming along very nicely Vinny

When you get your final def in, you have to make it one of McVeigh or Bartel to really strengthen that line up.

Higgins to Parker would be the finishing touch too

Looking good man!

Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 29, 2014, 11:03:41 AM
Okay so I've changed my mind.

It's risky but I'm getting on Kane Mitchell. He has Melbourne & GWS in the next couple weeks. I just need him to get close to 370k.

So I've gone:
Langdon to KMitchell
Fasolo to Buddy

Leaves me with 11 trades & 370k.

Means next week I can go Langford to Bartel/McVeigh and leaves me with 150k.

Meaning when KMitchell gets to 400k, I'll go KMitchell to Premium.

Team done with 8 trades.

Thoughts?
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Ricochet on May 29, 2014, 11:13:16 AM
Not a massive fan mate. Only because KMitchell could easily be used as a sub or dropped or chuck up an average score. And your plan will need him to play full games, avoid the vest, post decent scores and do it over the next couple of weeks.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 29, 2014, 11:20:45 AM
Yeah I know man it's risky but I can't see an alternative. After I do Langdon & Fasolo to Buddy & Selwood.

How am I going to find cash afterwards to get that last defender in to complete my team?

I really want one of Bartel or McVeigh for the last spot. :-\

Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on May 29, 2014, 01:57:00 PM
My worry is that Fasolo might play up forward now so his scoring will not be as good.

How about?

This week:
Fasolo to Shenton
Langdon to Selwood

Next week:
Langford to Bartel/McVeigh

Leaving me only F6 to upgrade, not including Higgins.

I like this because I've got a huge league game next week so getting in two more super premiums would help my chances.

Thanks for the help so far man

Yeh I like that a bit better.

My gut keeps telling me that Fasolo will score well but I dunno whether to trust it or not. They do have Saints, Melb and Bullies in the next 3 weeks though
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014

Cheers.

Yeah I thought he might but if he moves forward can't see him scoring more than 70 so thought I might aswell bank the cash now.

This pretty much convinced me from Spite.

Did no one watch the game? Lol 😜

So goldsack and maxwell took JJK and darling, until the resting ruck went forward and maxwell took him and Langdon would shift to darling. Marley was the one with the freedom in the backline this week. Fasolo wasn't getting the job done so they moved him forward.
In all honestly, I believe Langdon will be given the licence to roam this week and all weeks until seedsman is back. Seedsman did get injured in the vfl which was a set back for him and Sinclair is out now for two months. Langdons JS became extraordinary in one weekend of vfl footy.
I think fasolo will be used half up front to help out our struggling forward line and half lockdown defender and may be switche with Jamie Elliot who is getting a run through the backline. When Elliot goes back, he is the one who is free and Langdon shifts to lockdown.
I have traded Langdon to bartel but I see little reason to not hold him this week and see how he goes, I may reverse my trade.

So Fasolo kicks 4 and gets 90 but Buddy 108 and it should be fine long-term.

Ric, I went with KMitch move man, hahaha. :-[

It was just a gut feeling, hope it pays off.  :P

Haha I reckon it was a solid move. KMitch played well but didn't tackle as much as he did in the last couple. But they have the Saints next week.

I'm so tempted to trade Goldstein!!

Jacobs next week, whilst Minson has Archie Smith/Stefan Martin.

Hahaha good idea.

Nah I've got a plan now, means keeping Roughy & Goldy but think it will be better long term.

It's probably insane and will flower me up but I want the win this week.

Trading a couple big players for specific reasons.

Are you bringing in Cloke for Pav? Cloke has a good matchup against the Dees this week while Pav will face Talia/Truck. I also think Docherty for Langford could be a good move if you can afford it.

What I will do this week will shock FF big time.

Docherty does look good though! Still pretty cheap as well.

Blue Boys - UPDATE

Recap: Not a good round at all, dropped about 1k.

Round 1 Rank: 11,921 (2,237)
Round 2 Rank: 55,001 (1,917)
Round 3 Rank: 34,819 (2,277)
Round 4 Rank: 16,210 (2,223)
Round 5 Rank: 10,157 (2,287)
Round 6 Rank: 21,029 (1,943)
Round 7 Rank: 17,110 (2,268)
Round 8 Rank: 11,313 (2,046)
Round 9 Rank:   8,860 (1,643)
Round 10 Rank:  7,785 (1,758)
Round 11 Rank:  3,733 (2,542)
Round 12 Rank:  4,873 (2,166)

This week I've gone:
Watson to SJ
Higgins to Zorko

The second one will happen so long as KMitch isn't sub, it allows me to bring in a premium midfielder next week and move Zorko forward.

Leaves this team:
Swallow, Simpson, Bartel, Burgoyne, Hurn, Jaensch. (Cutler, Georgiou.)
Ablett, Pendles, Beams, Rockliff, Watson, Murphy, Goddard, KMitchell. (Acres, Hartung)
Sandilands, Goldstein. (Currie, King)
Dangerfield, Parker, Martin, Pavlich, Zorko, Buddy. (Lloyd, Taylor.)

Leaves 7 trades & 180k.

So next week  or the week after just Hartung to Honeychurch (Means Taylor can cover midfield and forward.) & KMitch to Fyfe.

I'll be all done with 5 trades, thoughts? :)

Thanks guys

Nope none yett all, but next week, I'll have Taylor covering midfield and forward, hopefully Cutler will be back too.

No ruck cover but I figure, if Goldy is out, Currie comes in so whatever haha.

Blue Boys - UPDATE

Recap: 2 donuts explains my week, haha.
Current Rank:  4,910.

The Team:

7 trades & 179k.

Thinking KMitch & Hartung for Honeychurch & Fyfe. Honeychurch means Taylor can cover both midfield and defence. That should leave a finished team with 5 trades.

What do you guys think? :)

Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on June 16, 2014, 05:30:41 PM
Yeah thanks man, can't see any better options than Fyfe.

If I get Spina (Dead rookie.) over Honeychurch, I can spend 603k on a midfielder but Honeychurch may play so it's far more appealing.

Plus Fyfe probably the best option anyway.

Blue Boys - UPDATE

Current Rank:4,894.
Team: Picture below.
Recap:
Average round again after copping a donut from Murphy cause I forgot to swap Honeychurch and Taylor.

So the team is complete, 5 trades see as s and 33k remaining. How does it look and who do you guys think I should be looking at upgrading closer to finals?

Hopefully Murphy is fine too.

Thanks. :)

Team looks good - Only trade I would be looking at making would be Jaensch to Mitchell in a few weeks time. Other than that, I think you should hold as it's more important to hold trades for injuries. Don't think you'll have enough cash to go Zorko to Boomer at any time this year which is probably the only other trade you could be looking at. Good luck
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on June 24, 2014, 06:03:59 PM
Yeah I'd love Boomer but cannot afford him right now. Jaensch is doing well again but Hendo is back soon so do not know how that will effect him so that'd be a nice trade. Thanks man, appreciate it.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: GoLions on June 24, 2014, 06:07:34 PM
Nice stuff Vincenzo, got 1 extra trade on me. Is Charlie back this week? Even with Taylor covering both lines, sometimes one gets locked out and you can't do the ol' switcheroo to cover both. Kersten as a downgrade in 2 weeks maybe? Other than that, only other thing is defence bench if Cutler happens to get dropped. I think he should play out most weeks though.

Re: Big Mac, wait and see with that trade. Jaensch was averaging 100+ like midway through the season. And I'm also looking at Gunston or Roughy to Boomer now for SC finals. Dat draw, makes the mouth water.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on June 24, 2014, 07:13:17 PM
Thanks dude.

Yeah not sure on Cameron, I think it was 1-2 weeks from what I can remember, hopefully he is back cause he seemed a coach and fan favourite. Yeah happened to me last week, I will consider it but I don't wanna make that trade to pock 50k but we will see. If Kersten is looking good, I might pull the trigger. Cheers for the suggestion, didn't think about it.

Yeah if Zorko/Pav spuds towards the end of the year, hopefully I will have enough trades to grab Boomer for him.

SJ could be a finals worry too, maybe NDS in at that point. :o
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: Vinny on June 25, 2014, 03:47:58 PM
Thoughts on:

Cameron to Kersten
Taylor to Wingard

Will only leave 3 trades but premium cover, then Zorko to bench.

Thanks for the idea Ric/Dave. ;)

My defence cover is a worry though.
Title: Re: Vinny's Blue Boys 2014
Post by: GoLions on June 25, 2014, 03:53:23 PM
Personally, I think your defence cover is probably more of an issue, and getting someone like Grimes could be more beneficial for you

Reckon I'll go with the one trade then!

I feel safer with JPK for some reason so I'm going him, haha. I can assess where I need cover the most down the track and never know what else could come up.

Thanks dude
