Title: AaronKirk SC Diary
Post by: AaronKirk on March 25, 2014, 04:40:21 PM
I may as well join the crowd and start an SC diary for 2014. Seems to be a good idea where I can easily track my progress during the season.

Here is my overall progress during the 2014 season

For round 2:

Moved Ellis on field for Michie, Laidler on field for Clurey and will probably put McCarthy on field for Rohan

No trades.

Assuming you mean Cluery not Cutler.

I would hold as well.

Week 2 trades: was thinking about trading clurey out. now that he is not named I will trade him out for georgiou.

Have enough cash to bring Currie onto my bench in the ruck if Goldy is not named.

Won't trade Laidler yet.

Its a marathon not a sprint though.

Confirmed Trade for week 3: Rohan to Ambrose

He would be an excellent pick but have gone for another premo who I will not reveal at this stage. so I have traded him in for Hurn.  Undecided on my other trade at this stage.

GL in our league match this weekend... well not too much  :P

You held Fyfe for one week, so a waste to get rid of him now. He'll be back and post big scores and has a bigger upside than Rioli for mine
Title: Re: AaronKirk SC Diary

Fyfe is back next week so why trade a prem to a mid pricer although Kelly looking good.

Rohan is sound bench cover so worth keeping for that purpose.

I would look at one of your non playing rucks to Currie or Derrick before they rise further.  Both have negative B/e so now is the opportunity to get bench cover for rucks.

Rd 4: shower week 1954

last week traded Fyfe to Taylor, Rohan to Buddy. Short term pain for long term structural gain.

Looking at moving Caddy out this week.

Here is my current side.

Looking at Cunningham to M.Crouch

Then looking to upgrade Caddy to a premo.

Cannot afford Nroo or Boomer if I use the first trade.

Other option is to trade one of Polec/Tyson/Ellis/Dunstan to Crouch then go Caddy to Nroo (who I really would like in my side)

Thoughs?

Mid: G.Ablett, D.Beams, M.Murphy, J.Watson, T.Cotchin, J.Polec, M.Crouch, N.Robertson (M.Hallahan, L.Taylor)

Have you planned out your trades over the bye period?
Title: Re: AaronKirk SC Diary

With Buddy out I am getting rid of him- too much of a liability.

changed trades to Cunningham to Hallahan
and Buddy to Smitch (via Taylor DPP)

This does leave me with less $ in the bank but a bye structure of 10/10/10 and bring in a bone-fide premo who I want in my side at the end of the year.

Current side:

Def: D.Swallow, M.Johnson, K.Simpson, G.Birchall, T.Langdon, J.Laidler  (W.Langford, A.Georgiou)

Mid: G.Ablett, D.Beams, M.Murphy, J.Watson, T.Cotchin, S.Mitchell, J.Polec, M.Crouch (M.Hallahan, N.Robertson)

Ruck: A.Sandilands, T.Goldstein (A.Smith, M.King)

Fwd: P.Dangerfield, N.Riewoldt, D.Martin, S.Higgins, C.Wingard, J.Impey (L.Tayor, L.McCarthy)

No real planning- just a rough guide to how to bring in gun mid premos during the bye.

Buddy out has thrown it around a fair bit- Means I remain at 6 upgrades left but I bring in Smitch who I had planned to bring in after round 9.

Only scored the 2197 last week. Dropped 102 spots overall.

Trades this week: Been tossing and turning on what to do. I waited on team selections and have decided to go Ambrose/Gardiner/Fyfe in for Georgiou/Crouch/Smitch.

Current side, Round 8 Bye players Blue. Round 9 Bye players Green. Round 10 bye players Orange

Def: Swallow, Simpson, Johnson, Birchall, Langdon, Laidler (Langford,Gardiner)

Mid: Ablett, Beams, Fyfe, Murphy, Watson, Cotchin, Polec, Robertson (Hallahan, Taylor)

Ruck: Sandilands, Goldstein (King, Smith)

Fwd: Dangerfield, N.Riewoldt, Martin, Wingard, Higgins, Ambrose (Impey, McCarthy)

Bye Structure of 9/9/12.

Defense 2/3/3, Mid 3/3/4 Ruck 1/0/3 Fwd 3/3/2

Will have $155,800 in salary to make upgrades next week. Looking at bringing in Pendles and another premo. Looking at Bartel in defense, Stevie J or Selwood in the mids or Parker in the forwards.

1711 in the first bye round.

Moved from 23,579 overall to 12,666.

Trades.

Pretty easy decisions- had to get rid of Langdon to bring the premo's in that I wanted.

Polec/Higgins/Langdon out for Pendles/Bartel/Acres
Title: Re: AaronKirk SC Diary

Having a second look in regards to my trades.

If i make the Langdon to Bartel third trade I will have about 15k to then have to make at least 2 trades to get 18 players for next week.

I will have 20 players this week if I go Polec/Higgins to Pendles/Acres

I'm thinking about keeping Langdon this week (he has more $ to make) and then punting Laidler out for Bartel next week as well as Robbo to Hartung

Should I bring in Bartel this week? or wait a week as it would make round 10 much easier?

Would like to hear anyone's opinion, which I thank for in advance.

Like the Plan For third trade this week and you have the opportunity to see if not sub is Impey to Charlie Cameron only makes about 40k but do not think Impey will make any more cash. Obviusly only do this one if trades are not an issue and you need that little bit extra cash.

I would prefer to see how Cameron goes before bringing him in.

If I only make 2 trades this week (Pendles/Acres in for Polec/Higgins) I will have $237,100 for next weeks trades and I also save a trade.

I would go Robertson to Hartung and Laidler to Bartel next week plus an additional downgrade somewhere (Maybe Langford to a defensive rookie)

Would leave me with about $380k after round 10 with 11 trades left to make 4 upgrades- which is somewhat manageable

Considering the following 2 trades which are locked in.

Laidler to Bartel
Taylor to Cameron

My third trade is the deadweight McCarthy to Travis Cloke

I am taking a massive risk. Now Collingwood's draw coming up is West Coast, St Kilda, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, a depleted Hawthorn, Carlton, Gold Coast and Essendon. I reckon that the Potato himself will have the softest draw possible to turn around his form, at $367k I reckon he is worth the risk and i'm trading him from McCarthy who won't get any more game time.

This gives me 20 for next week.
Title: Re: AaronKirk SC Diary
Post by: Mat0369 on May 18, 2014, 08:45:47 PM
From the other thread, I would rather hold Taylor since he has DPP and a low B/E. I would sideways McCarthy and avoid the dead weight that is Cloke.

I agree with Mat on avoiding Cloke. Buddy is obviously no good this week with the bye but for only 38k more I think you are getting a lot more bang for your buck.

Cloke
Year   Games   Average
2005   15   53.5
2006   15   50.3
2007   22   79.5
2008   21   77.5
2009   19   73.6
2010   20   90.7
2011   22   97.7
2012   22   81.5
2013   21   95.2
2014   8   60.6

Buddy
Year   Games   Average
2005   20   59.4
2006   14   63.0
2007   20   91.4
2008   22   107.0
2009   21   87.9
2010   17   107.5
2011   19   110.8
2012   16   115.5
2013   19   90.4
2014   8   81.1

Who's the last spot being reserved for in the mids? A bit of blue and white would look good amongst that midfield color scheme so I would be more inclined to trade Laidler to Selwood moving Langdon down back. I'd be holding Taylor over his bye with such a low BE of 2 and then trade Impey or McCarthy to Cameron.

Actually what am I talking about? You don't have Zorko so just wait until he bottoms out and grab him next to nothing.

Thanks Mat and Jeesh for your advice. Option 2 is shown in the image

(http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/b632/Aaron_Kirk/scpriorround10option2_zps0ad6a2b1.jpg) (http://s1295.photobucket.com/user/Aaron_Kirk/media/scpriorround10option2_zps0ad6a2b1.jpg.html)

Option 2 would be to trade 1) Laidler to Selwood via Swallow DPP and 2) McCarthy to Cameron.

This would leave $82k and 11 trades to make 2 defence and 2 forward upgrades.

Should I go with Option One (Laidler/Taylor/McCarthy to Bartel/Cameron/Cloke) or Option Two (Laidler/McCarthy to Selwood/Cameron)?

Option One leaves me with 3 upgrades to compared to 4 with option Two.

All opinions are welcome and am thankful in advance.

Any opinions for a 3rd trade under Option 2 are also well appreciated.

Scored 1804 in Round 10. Moved from 7,886 to 6,173 in the overall rankings and managed wins in both of my leagues.
Trades were Laidler to Selwood and McCarthy to Cameron.

For Round 11 I will be upgrading Langford to Jaensch. This will leave me with 3 upgrades remaining and $500 in the kitty.
I may make a downgrade but the options IMO are thin this week.

Avoiding Cloke looked like a good move  :P

Possible downgrades, I can think of 3 guys off the top of my head

Shenton (FWD/MID), Aylett and Bews if they are named. Not sure if I like any but Shenton looks to go alright.

I agree with Shenton. He would be the one to come into my side. The thing that  have no idea about is who to downgrade?

Not worth it now to trade out Impey or Cameron. Ambrose, if named, has a bit more cash to make. I want to hold Acres for now to see how bad his injury is. Hallahan and Taylor have more cash to make.

Having a second look at my original trade I may trade Langdon instead of Langford to Jaensch.

Langford has GWS this week compared to Langdon who has St Kilda. Langford has a lower BE and more cash to make (for this week anyway).

Langdon has a BE of 74 and there is definitely a correlation between his lower scores and Fasolo playing along side Langdon.

More likely I will trade Langdon to Jaensch. This will give me 10 trades and $106,900 in salary.
Title: Re: AaronKirk SC Diary
Post by: Mat0369 on May 26, 2014, 01:16:26 PM
I read Acres is out 6 weeks on the forums, the trade won't exactly give you a lot of cash so it is probably not worth it. I doubt Taylor gets the vest since he just won the rising star nomination, but he seems the one to be expendable to a degree.

I would also get rid of Langdon due to what you said about Fas being in the side. He is forced to lock down more when there is a runner playing next to him.

I really don't know what to do at the moment. There are 4 options which are in my head at the moment. Each option has merits. below is my current side

(http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/b632/Aaron_Kirk/scbefrorerd11trades_zpsfde8e093.png) (http://s1295.photobucket.com/user/Aaron_Kirk/media/scbefrorerd11trades_zpsfde8e093.png.html)

Here are the options I am looking at below, each has merits but I am stuck. I really don't know what to do this week. If you have any other suggestions I would like to hear them, as I don't have much of an idea what to do.

Option One
Langdon to Jaensch
Hold 2nd trade

Option Two
Langdon to Jaensch
Acres to K.Mitchell

Option Three
Langdon to Bews
Ambrose to a premo fwd up to $556k

Option Four
Langford to Bews
Langdon to Bartel

EDIT: I have come up with another option which I think has merit as well. One I may be happy to look at

Ambrose to Fletcher Roberts.
Langdon to Bartel.

Update:

Have decided (for now) that I will trade Langford/Ambrose to Bews/Franklin

If Bews is named sub I may reconsider.

EDIT: Now that Ambrose (to my surprise) has been named I have kept him and decided to trade Impey to Franklin instead.

2210 for Round 11. dropped to 7936 overall (better than I thought)

At this stage Langdon out for a premo is locked in.

Will keep Hallahan/Gardiner for another week. should be able to downgrade Hallahan to O'Brien then upgrade Gardiner to a premo next week.

Am strongly considering Sandi to Nic Nat. Will generate approx 170k and then should easily be able to finish my team in the next 2 weeks.

Watson out for Zorko (Danger into the mids sets up permanent DPP), Gardiner out for Hanley is what I am thinking ATM

Which sort of fixes D6 but have MJ injured. Brisbane have GWS this week so hopefully this gives me a boost. Will Keep MJ for now.

Then I will trade out J.Tippett for McVeigh to finish my defense and can then have $145k in reserves to upgrade one of Ambrose/L.Taylor next week to get to full premo.

Yes you are mad. Why Sandi? The man is the highest scoring ruck in all of fantasy land

I have decided on L.Taylor to McGovern and Gardiner for H.Shaw. Leaves me with 3 trades left and flower all cash to upgrade F6, with Ambrose and McGovern making the cash to do so.

Scored 2285 for Round 14. Murphy a late out cost me massively.

No Trades this week (maybe if Murphy is out again).

Scored 2538 in Round 15. Made no Trades and moved up to 6795 overall.

I don't think I will trade this week, I may look at Ambrose to Kersten or wait a week and go Ambrose to Honeychurch instead.

Scored 2466 with only 21 scorers in Round 18. Had no cover for Sandi. Moved up to 5,356 overall.

Only one trade left, which I will be using this week. I will be trading McGovern out for a premo forward up to $491,900.

Any suggestions? Looking more at POD options.

Ended up trading in Westhoff- who managed to get 120. Ended up with 2322- copped a donut with Smitch a late out.
