Rookie Draft Rules

Rookie Draft will open at 9:15am FF Time Thursday 4th December

Draft order has been finalised and listed above, At conclusion of Draft you will have 45 players on your list. 3 teams have only 2 positions available at conclusion of final delisting period and are shown as pass in third round,

All players listed in the OP are eligible to be selected with your pick.

You have 24hrs or 2 hours if on line  to take your pick. This will be enforced by the league administrator and discretion can be used where appropriate. If you do not pick within required time you will be skipped. You will continue to be skipped until you come on line and take all picks due to you from players remaining. Admin may be lenient with coaches who may be involved in an on line draft in other competitions. You may elect to give a list of players to the Administrator if you so desire if you realise you may be away for a period.

Whilst I will endeavour to keep OP to date by changing selected players to Red it is still appropriate to check latest selections to see if player has been selected recently.

After completing your pick you are required to PM next coach on list to keep the draft moving.
To assist here are teams and coaches.

Birmingham Dragons - Kilbluff1985
Blackpool Bunnies - SydneyRox
Bradford Badgers - Go Lions
Crosby Cruisers - Pkbaldy
Grope Lane Giants - Rids

Liverpool Rams - Nige

Have done a draft order based on de-listings to date. Remember supplementary order may change at end of 2nd delisting period.
Title: Re: 2014 Rookie Draft Thread
Post by: kilbluff1985 on September 06, 2014, 12:29:41 PM
but the order will change heaps once teams start doing 2 for 1 trade deals wont it?
Title: Re: 2014 Rookie Draft Thread
Post by: Ringo on September 06, 2014, 12:36:29 PM
It will but will not now be finalised till after 2nd Delisting finishes on 23rd November. As I said draft as it stands following first de-listing and atm only a few teams have Supplementary picks to trade.

http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,97911.0.html

Process will be as follows:

Following Final De-listing on 3rd December
On Thursday 4th December will update OP with players picked - delete any players not on an AFL list
Publish final draft order
Start Draft when all complete and at this stage hoping for Thursday afternoon/evening.

When draft complete will consolidate lists and then open trade period 2 which will be like for like.

Will the final order be changed to reflect the people that have 0, or 1 or 2 spots left on their list but more picks than this?

For example we'll move up from 17 to 16 if Manchester doesn't make another delisting because they have 0 spots left?
Title: Re: 2014 Rookie Draft Thread
Post by: Ringo on November 30, 2014, 05:31:35 PM
When finalised for Rounds 1 - 3 if teams do not have 3 picks they will be recorded as passing once their team quota of 45 players would be met effectively moving teams up the order.

Suspect Torp will be delisting further players.  A few coaches are waiting to see if players get picked up eg Raines has been training with Suns so in all probability may be picked up by them after being de-listed by Brisbane.

Lol, I have 9 picks  ::)

My last rookie pick still better than Morris, Dawson etc  :P
Title: Re: 2014 Rookie Draft Thread

I have updated the OP with all available players who are still on an AFL list - It was not an easy task with a few crosschecks so is possible may have missed some so let me know if there are players in the OP that should be deleted.

Will finalise the final draft order tomorrow after the mid night deadline for delistings and then we should be able to start the draft.

Josh Hall and Tom Logan no longer available players for this draft.
Title: Re: 2014 Rookie Draft Thread
Post by: Ringo on December 04, 2014, 08:21:34 AM
I have Tom Logan being redrafted by Port Adelaide with Pick 34 in the National Rookie Draft and can find no record of the Suns de-listing Josh Hall and he is still showing on their list.

Whilst you have de-listed them and they are still on an AFL list they go into the de-listed players section in this draft.

Josh Hall was elevated to the senior list. Yeah I reinstated both players to the Giants list yesterday on the delistings thread

My apologies Rids have read that as delisting will take them off the list and reinstate to Giants list and you will lose the appropriate 2 Rookie draft picks. Leaving you with 4 rookie picks

Okay we've been thinking about this pick long and hard for a while as there's a couple of ways we could go here but after some intense last minute talks the Staines Steins have decided to use pick 1 in the BXV Rookie Draft on a future rising star who loves the contested ball in Zak Jones.

Nostra and I have been debating this one for what seems like an eternity. We had another penciled in for quite a while and have had a late change of mind. We have decided to back in a guy who was verging on premium def status before his injury. Little risky but massive reward if it pays off!

Giants select - Brendan Whitecross

Nice pick, I guess a bit too hopeful he'd slip to 7

He almost did slip past us as we were strongly considering one other guy but, now you've said that I'm very happy as we were wondering if Jones would slip to 13. Clearly not

Breakers will take a defender who should also maintain DPP in Heretier Lumumba.  Will fit nicely into our squad and assist the young brigade.

Welcome to Breakers Heretier

I was having trouble deciding between more instant point scoring in Lumumba and a more youthful pick for the future. Decision is easy now :)

Werewolves welcome Matt Buntine

Alrighty, with the scarcity of quality forwards, and seeing as a few of players are probably on their last year... my premiership push is now.

Hurricanes will take Matthew Pavlich!

Interesting. Not the guy I thought.

However, I can now reveal this was the guy we were actually also considering at Pick 1. He was close to slipping to out second pick :(

Averaged 78 (in DT) in his last eight games last season and also handily should be a ruc/def next season.

I don't think so. He may lose it the season after but Blicavs covered enough in the ruck this year for him to keep it. He recorded hitouts in every game bar one and had totals of 10 or more in 11 games this year.

He also played a couple of games as the Cats main ruck including the last final.

He's a really interesting one in terms of position - he played more football in defence but also was used all around the ground from ruck to defender to forward to the wing.

First qpp (quadruple position player)?

Two rules that have been in place since the start of the national draft are that a coach has 24 hours to make their selection and 2 hours from when they first come online/are seen online after the previous coach has picked.

There is plenty of decent options available anyways so being skipped not the worst punishment for this draft.

Hopefully torp gets back online and picks. I am off for the night anyways so that should give him a few extra hours.

But most coaches should check a draft thread when they come on especially when a draft is in progress. and that ius the reason the 2 hr rule would be enforced.

Speaking from experience, I'm always logged in to FF so sometimes when I open the browser on my phone it automatically comes up on FF meaning it clocks me on as "logged in" even though I don't actually look on FF at all and go straight to another web page.

Will not allow it to be changed owing to the fact that there is only a minuites difference so Torps pick of Rowe stands and Memphs pick of Woodward stands.  Awaiting Rids now to pick.

So hold on, you would have been happy to skip me even though I received no notification and it was within the first hour of drafting, especially considering how late my pick was. I rush to get my pick in, see Memph posted what I was planning and quickly change. Then I notice Memph is early, and if get my second choice?

Good job Ringo. I voted for you in the Best Admins comp, but this bugs me.

You have admitted that you could have picked within 5 mins of  Rusty's pick if you were PM'd.  This to me states you were on line when Rusty picked at 8:26 so 2 hr rule would have been applied from then meaning you would have been officially skipped at 10:26.  I only used 9:32 as when i checked that was the time it showed as last active. So my decision stands based on your own admittance as memph lodged at 10:48

This kid's rated pretty well, should get more of a go with the departure of Boyd and injury to Patton. James Stewart, come on down.

Haha just back I sent nrich a list of who I preferred.  A couple have been taken.  Staker has been training strongly and relatively free of injury,  Will probably attract 2nd defender to take the pressure of Close/Freeman.  Will not be in starting 15 but will be a handy depth player.  May get DPP as he has been predominantly training with the defensive group.

Who gets the first defender then?

Brisbane's side looks great now except for the kpp posts (excluding ruck) where they have a lot of kids playing. But, give it another few seasons for those kids to develop and they could be very good indeed.

Would say the resting ruck Memph.  Both berger and Martin too dangerous to be left unchecked in the goal square.

Changed my mind on this one from someone I was always thinking of taking with our last pick to a guy who looks like he could become a great fantasy defender in the future who are in short supply.

The last player drafted by the Steines this season will be Michael Manteit.

I wonder if the other guy I wanted will even be picked now...

Unfortunately LF has the last picks and as per rules can take as long as she likes to pick,  Rules do not cover the last person to pick as they state they are skipped until the take their picks.

If I were being pedantic could say that she is skipped for Pick 77 and 2 hr for pick 78 starting now.
