GOLD Coast midfielder Jesse Lonergan has been taken to hospital for scans after rolling his right ankle at training on Wednesday morning.
In what appeared an innocuous incident, the 20-year-old stood on a teammate's foot during the warm-up before crumpling to the ground.
Lonergan has had a wretched run with injuries in his two seasons since being taken at pick No.13 in the 2012 AFL Draft.
He has broken both hands and had a series of hamstring injuries, managing just 13 senior games.
The club did not want to speculate on the extent of Lonergan's injury and will wait until the scan results are available.
His teammates underwent an hour of match simulation at Metricon Stadium, with most players taking part.
Jack Martin was sensational through the midfield and half-forward in a game that was played in three thirds, while off-season recruits Nick Malceski and Mitch Hallahan also shone.
