Some of the best in the game at the moment were rookie list gems.

Matt Priddis, Tom Rockliff and then some.
Not actually rookie gems but pre-season draft picks. PSD virtually non existent these days because of free agency with de-listed players as well.
You know what I meant though. Players not taken in the national draft.

Happy with these two from the Rookie Draft.

Jonathon Beech
Adelaide has rounded out its 2016 playing squad by selecting West Adelaide forward Jonathon Beech with the Club’s second and final pick in the AFL Rookie Draft.

Beech, 25, is a strong-marking forward, who can also run through the midfield. The West Adelaide premiership player kicked 35 goals in 2015 to finish eighth in the Ken Farmer Medal. He also averaged 18 possessions, seven marks, six score involvements and four inside 50ms in 22 SANFL games. Beech ranked No.1 in the league for total marks and third for contested marks.

Originally from Riverland club Barmera-Monash, Beech trained with the Crows in the lead up to last year’s Rookie Draft, but the cards didn’t fall his way on the day. He’s represented South Australia in the past three state games.

ROOKIE BIO

Jonathon Beech
9/11/1990
187cm, 85kg
Forward/midfielder
West Adelaide (SANFL)

Seen him play a few games late in the year, Has a good grab and looks dangerous around the ball marking contested or uncontested.
Needs to step up a level, he didn't quiet set the SANFL on fire but has some serious potential and had a pretty good year for West Adelaide.

Adelaide has selected ruckman Paul Hunter with its first pick (No.13 overall) in the AFL Rookie Draft.

Hunter, 22, is an athletic big man who won the NEAFL Rising Star award in 2014, as well as the best and fairest award for his club, Redland.

He is a strong mark and likes to crash packs. His vertical jump scores at the state combine screening last month were ranked top six across Australia. Hunter also ran a 14.9 beep test and posted a time of 3.04 seconds in the 20-metre sprint.

Originally from Warner’s Bay near Newcastle in NSW, Hunter moved north in 2013.

Don't know alot about this guy except for the above and his highlight real. Has a decent bio though. Agile and mobile for a big man which makes him a chance for  a fwd/ruck spot and can find a team mate by foot.

Glad we didn't get anymore defenders.  :-\

Hunter as really advanced this year Grazz and come to attention at the combine with a 14.9 beep test and highly placed in vertical leap.  Probably building your back up rucks as we know they take a little longer to develop.  Perfgect size for a ruckman and has the body to match at 199cm and 99kg.  He averages 21 H/o per game in NEAFL but as we also know not a super strong comp.
