2014 AF Elxam Champ; Dublin are pie

« on: March 09, 2016, 05:03:52 PM »

Will start us off with

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/harley-balic-wrist-injury-fremantle-dockers-draftee-undergoes-third-operation/news-story/999ddda2657acbe892a1c130c1d2b8a2

Quote
FIRST-YEAR midfielder Harley Balic is set for an extended stint on the sidelines after undergoing another bout of surgery on his troublesome wrist.

The 19-year-old was sent for a third operation on his left wrist since fracturing the scaphoid bone dunking a basketball at school three years ago.

Balic went under the knife again on Wednesday after a similar procedure in August last year failed to heal sufficiently.

A timeframe for his return is yet to be set, but the club is expected to take a cautious approach.

Some good news though, Bennell is set to pull on the Freo jumper for the first time this year

Nick Bowen from AFL.com.au says this is incorrect and he hasn't actually had surgery yet, only seen the specialist...

No concerns for Freo trio

Quote
Fremantle skipper David Mundy says there should be no concerns over star trio Matthew Pavlich, Nat Fyfe and Michael Johnson heading into Sunday's clash with the Western Bulldogs after all three were on limited duties at training on Wednesday.

So Johnson pulls out with a sore calf and Alex Pearce comes in. Hopefully its only a 1 weeker but Pearce will hold his own against the Bullies so not a huge loss

Alex Pearce lines up for Peel, helps them win the game with two last gasp goals.
Silvagni selected, why I will never know.He suffers more pull out than trains at Perth railway station. He is a wasted spot. But not only that, he is replaced by Clancee Pearce. A big replaced by a small!!!!!One has to ask why!!
Not a good result. Will we see major changes next week, or do those who are supposedly long termers in the side, going to continue to prove just plodders.
For mine maybe we need to inject some young blood into the side.Drop players like C Pearce, Suban, Mayne and a few other for some new talent.Let us see if the recruiting is as bad as some are saying.

Sorry mate, i saw your post but didn't have time to comment at the time.

I agree, i have no idea why Alex didn't come in.

In saying that, that wasn't why we lost. We were no where near ready. We got smashed through the midfield, we got beaten in one on ones, and we struggled to grasp any sort of momentum.

We normally bring the immense pressure, but it was them applying it on the weekend

All I'm going to say is look out GC

Alex Pearce should have played V the Doggies as should have Sam Collins. Why recruit these so called ready made AFL players if we aren't going to play them.
All the hype about Collins lead me to believe that we had a ready replacement for McPharlin. The club were very up about him.If you believe what they tell us, he should have played.

Alex Pearce had an interrupted pre-season, so he was given a game at Peel to make sure he is ready.  Sam Collins is un-proven and will be behind Johnson, Dawson and A Pearce (also maybe Silvagni).  He will have to do his time in Peel - if he keeps putting up consistent football then he will get his opportunity.

Z Clarke will miss a few weeks according to Lyon.
If Johnson gets through training, he will play.
Morabito wont play this week, 1 more week of training before he plays for Peel.
Lyon was happy with the performances of A Pearce & T Smith at Peel on the weekend.

Quote
LACHIE Neale is yet to start contract talks with Fremantle as he focuses on making a strong start to the 2016 season.

Neale is set to come out of contract at the end of the year, but has told the Dockers he doesn't want to start negotiations until he has completed at least the opening stretch of the home and away season.

Although the Glenelg product would be a highly attractive target for rival clubs, it's believed he has no desire to field opposition interest at the moment.

And when Neale is ready to start talking about his football future – he has no firm date in mind – AFL.com.au understands Fremantle will be his first port of call.

And the wheel on the bus go round and round. Deboer!!!!! Mzungu!!!!
Nothing changes it seems. They bring Darcy Tucker up as a an emergency, he is described as a left footed midfielder.Loves to run and carry the ball.Good hands. He got this far, why not give him the chance instead of recycling Deboer and Mzungu.
I know you can't fill the side with kids, but surely he deserves a chance if selected as an emergency and a mid goes down.
