Cameron Shenton, Brodie Murdoch, Tom Lee and Eli Templeton have been advised that they will not be offered contracts for 2017.
No real surprises there.
Eli will get another chance somewhere I'd think. He showed a bit before getting overtaken by Gresham, Billings...and co.

Can activate picks 23, 36 & 61 on 3 new players with our delistings now.
No need to put Fisher on rookie list or delist him so who knows?
I'm not sure if we can just put Holmes on the senior list now that he has had the full stint on the rookie list or if we need to get him in the draft but if we do he'd with our 4th pick in the 80s.

yeah we can upgrade him with a high pick no one would use...

...except Hawthorn this year

I don't know what I want us to do with Fish. he's still capable of playing good footy. still does a good job intercept marking

but... if we keep him (rookie list or senior) does that mean we can't use a rookie pick or whatever? like a Weller and Membrey pick up. I'd hate to miss out on a player like that (I have no idea who we could pick up)

and he's been so good to us. I'd love him to at least get a send off game :(

I love that DP Bill.. Probably my favourite St Kilda goal ever. Or maybe a close second to Lenny's bomb in the Drawn Grand Final.

hell yeah mate! I love it. gives me chills every time I see it. same with Lenny's goal. his reaction makes it for me

another favourite of mine is Billings' goal (I think his 1st in his demolition of the Doggies). 50 out on the boundary, looking for a target, Joey says to him "just kick the flowerin goal Jack" (paraphrasing but he said something very similar)

head down. goals. straight to Joey and high fives him. Joey gives him a look like "see, that's how good you are. come on"

and that to me is the problem with Jack. he lacks self belief. take the Dogs game for example, he didn't really do much in the first half, but when he kicked that goal (it might've even been his 2nd, but I digress) he knew he was the man to get us back in the game. and he won it for us

the only thing Jack has to do to take the next step (besides a bit of flowerin luck on the injury side) is to get his head right. once he convinces himself he's better than everyone else out there he will be a lethal weapon for us

I love him. he's a chance to be my most loved Sainter of all time. just gotta get his head right

how did I start talking about this. man I gotta stop drinking

Sam Fisher has retired after 228 games.
A great career. A great Saint.

A fortnight after St Kilda’s first to fourth-year players reported for duty, the remainder of the Saints’ list returned on Monday and immediately rolled their sleeves up in preparation for 2017.

In difficult conditions, the more experienced group atLinen House Centre commenced the pre-season with a 3km time-trial around Saints HQ, with endurance specialist Jarryn Geary leading the field home ahead of injury plagued recruit Nathan Freeman and gut running wingman Jack Newnes.

St Kilda High Performance Manager, Matt Hornsby, was pleased with the state the list returned in on day one, with the bulk of senior players within striking distance of their personal best around the course.

“Today’s group has come back in really tough conditions – hot and windy – and run a really strong 3km,” Hornsby told saints.com.au on Monday afternoon.

“A lot of them are not far from their PB’s which is really positive for players in the five plus year age group and quite a few are already equivalent with their best times last pre-season.”

Hornsby lauded the effort by former top-ten pick Freeman, after the dynamic midfielder put his best foot forward following a frustrating start to his career at St Kilda.

“It was a pretty positive morning and it was great to see Nathan Freeman come second behind Jarryn Geary,” Hornsby said.

“That’s the first 3km time-trial he’s done with us and it’s great for his confidence and the belief that it builds given how much work he’s been putting in the last 12 months to get his body in good shape.

“There’s still a lot of work ahead for him but it was a good step forward for him.”

3km Time-trial 21/11/16

1. Jarryn Geary
2. Nathan Freeman
3. Jack Newnes
4. Seb Ross
5. Mav Weller/David Armitage

good start for Freeman! hope there's no more set backs for him

don't worry mate we're not the only ones :P

stoked with Gears. to think at the start of last year I wanted to play youth over him. but he stood up for us multiple times and has shown he's a great leader on the field. good choice!

yeah I guess I just didn't really rate him. his disposal turned me against him

well not really against him, more I thought the young guys coming up would overtake him. but I see he's really valuable for us now, he can teach the young guys down back the tricks of the trade all while playing an important role for us
