As you know, I have a very similar structure, I have one rookie on the field in the mids, bout the only difference.

But geez, there are some interesting player choices...

Howe? I really cant see him being a top 10 defender, he is used too inconsistently, and when he is played out of position, his SC score sucks. Would rather Vince at the same price. Keeffe will be a prominent feature, but his scoring potential worries me.

Shoenmakers. :/ JS is a huge issue, 36 games in 4 seasons.

Personally dont like Caddy, reckon he could be a bit of a trap pick. Hasnt set the world on fire, Macrae feels like a safer pick. Love the Higgins pick though, dont have the balls to pick him though, those injury concerns. :/

Best of luck though!

Howe was one of the best performers from round 6 onwards, Vince is the one you should be very worried about, looks to be the primary tagger.

He was the 9th best performer behind Enright, Burgoyne, Docherty, Simpson, Boyd, Rance, McDonald and Shaw after Round 9. He also has the 3rd highest standard deviation out of the top 25 defenders, and his highest score was only 135 (unlike Shaw with 205). Not to mention his average in the first 6 rounds was just 57.75.

If you're after a keeper that will score high and score them consistently, I'd definitely be looking elsewhere. Stats dont lie. :)

Slight change of Team 2
Caddy to Heeney
Keeffe to Marchbank.

Nice changes, really looking at Marchbank myself.

Howe averaged 100 after round 6, this was the point he was switched to defence. Be careful with the season stats, it doesn't tell the full story. Here's the breakdown from round 7 onwards.

100+ scores = 8
80-99 = 6
>80 = 2

I think your Nankilands set up requires some serious stones, but if the risks pay off it'll be a cracker team. I would prefer maybe a slight middleground between your two sides.

Here's the rather risky players I see in the nankilands team:

Nank, Zorko, Heeney, Howe, WHE, Schoey

combined with the already risky Sandi/Roughy/Beams/JOM/Swallow

Zorko is perhaps justified after carrying the team last year, but I still see him as a risk if Rocky and Beams both step up, and a couple of youngsters pull finger. But he's probably the least worrisome, worst case scenario he ends up M6-7 which is not ideal for someone priced at ~600k to start, but ok.

Heeney and Howe are priced such that they have to become keepers to be worthwhile, but neither has history of putting up prem numbers to back them up.

Nank is an inbetweener, needs to be moderately successful to pay off, I think my issue is more he's your starting R1. As you know I have him too, but as a fwd with the idea of covering Sandi if needed. If he maintains JLT form then great, but his primary role for me is ruck cover. I think he will need to be traded out eventually. But for someone who can start, hopefully put up a few 80s, and possibly turn into a keeper (outside chance), he works well.

WHE and Schoey again less of a worry given our current knowledge of rooks, but I'm not sure they will score well enough to rise much from their starting prices. Be interested in what you're projecting them to average?

Sandi/Roughy/Beams/JOM/Swallow are all punts that you're taking based off their history, and I have no problem with any of them - it's more that I think they are the risks you take, and the others could be shored up with slightly more solid options. Eg if you trade one of Zorko/Heeney/Howe down to a rook, you have a bunch of cash to splash around, which I think could result in net change of WHE out, Nank fwd, Gawn/Goldy to ruck, and change to play with to sort the other two prem-potentials to more concrete choices. Not 100% on my mental maths there, but that's where I'd be looking.

Thanks Kiwi - Nice suggestions and still playing around but the doubt with Gawn forward and influence on Goldy with Preuss is concerning a little. Would be great if Preuss did not play though.

Think Beams will effect Rocky more than zorko as Beams and Rocky are both in and under whereas Zorks is a little outside,

Still not 100% on Howe or Heeney, Have picked WHE and Schoey as expensive place holders/starters  that can be changed if decent rookis start.  Same applies for O'Meara as Swallow imo will rise quickly and be that stepping stone.

Hi Ringo
I prefer the second teams structure. I like the Zorko pick, think he will have a great year. Schoenmakers should play a lot and is very cheap. I heard Heeney will miss early rounds with glandular.
Good luck

Thanks all - Been keeping an eye on the injuries etc and been playing around with Team and this is team as it stands at the moment. Obviously will change again.  Pretty settled on this structure just need to get the players right.

Have 90k cash to manouvre rookies and if all start Murphy will become Lloyd or ?

Love the team structurally.

Think Nankervis is probably a better option than Ryder.

Final Final Sitting Team

Changes

Murphy to Howe
Caddy to Gunston
Ryder to Nankervis

Schoenmakers the only real issue I will deal with when final teams are available.

Structure
Prems over $500k
Mid Price $250k - $500k
Rookies < 250K
Def 3 - 0 - 5
Mids  5 - 3 - 3
Ruck 0 - 2 - 1
Fwd  2 - 1 - 5
Total 10 - 6 -  14

Of the 6 midpricers hoping 3/4 become keepers which is feasible.

Prem Mid Bye Structure
Rd 11 12 available
Rd 12 12 available
Rd 13 9 Available.

Will be looking at upgrading to Port and Suns players who are performing after Rd 9 bye and that will further assist byes.

Sitting on hands now following all my analysis although Pendles could become Zorko with concern over his injury but as we have learnt never underestimate a star with injury.

OK Looking at 2 different structure with rucks:

Team 1:

Nankervis and Sandi in Rucks with Ryder Forward

11 definite keepers (including Beams and Roughy)  Sandi, Ryder could make 13.

Team 2

Martin and Sandilands in Ruck

See 12 definite keepers (including Beams and Martin) Sandi also a possibility,

Having difficulty like most in deciding which ruck structure and strategy to go, Sandi is a virtual must though. If Preuss not named may go Martin to Goldy given his juicy first few rounds.

Dahl, buddy, roughy and the nak in the fwd line
