Bates :D
Satterthwaite :(
Healy :'(
Perry ;D
Aley :)

Finished on 299. Happy with that start :o I wonder how many people have signed up to this game, might be the easiest $10,000 that one could possibly win (Not saying I'll win it, but I could see the total number of entrants being in 3 figures haha)

I'll do a best 11 for the Scorchers, not that hard considering we will only have 11 players available.
Great bowling attack Klinger and Inglis the only two that don't bowl. Batting depth is a real issue, pretty sure Agar has been really focusing on his bowling so him at 7 is a bit weak imo.

Not really sure who to put at the top with Klinger, but I feel like any of the guys from Cartwright to Inglis could do the job

Klinger
Cartwright
Voges
Turner
Willey
Inglis
Agar
Richardson
Tye
Johnson
Paris

Whiteman - Injured
NCN - Injured
Behrendorff - Injured
Cam Green - Injured

SMarsh - Aus duties
Bancroft - Aus duties
MMarsh - Aus duties

Jeez that doesn’t look too flash, definitely think not opting for a second international has set us back a bit.

Finch, McCullum, Buttler (Wk), Roy, Ludeman (Wk) (Cartwright, Rogers)
Carey (Pierson)
Watson (C), Maxwell, Hastings, McClenaghan, Sandhu (Willey, Paris)

$7,200

3 Scorchers players reading to come on for their DG week 2. Buttler and McClenaghan likely to get the chop after R1 for either Heat or Scorchers players.

BREAK NECKS, I'M THE CHIROPRACTOR

« Reply #22 on: December 11, 2017, 08:58:08 PM »

Alright, so I started writing previews a while back before I realised squads weren't finalised but now that they are, I'm gonna copy and paste what I have so far.

Feel free to discuss, dissect and disagree with any of it.

Adelaide Strikers

Squad: Wes Agar, Alex Carey, Jono Dean, Travis Head, Colin Ingram (SAf), Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Rashid Khan (Afg), Michael Neser, Liam O’Connor, Peter Siddle, Billy Stanlake, Jake Weatherald, Jonathan Wells.

Predicted Best XI:
Alex Carey (wk)
Jake Weatherald
Travis Head
Colin Ingram
Jake Lehmann
Jonathan Wells
Michael Neser
Ben Laughlin
Peter Siddle
Rashid Khan
Billy Stanlake

Thoughts: The Strikers were a bit disappointing last season but will definitely be looking to bounce back and have a better BBL|07. One thing working in the favour of the Strikers is that they are likely to have minimal disruption in regards to players leaving for international duties. Colin Ingram and Rashid Khan are their international players. Ingram is a batsman who is pretty consistent and can hit big. Rashid Khan is a 19 year old spinner taking the game by storm. O’Connor could play if they feel like having another spinner, but Travis Head always bowls. Jono Dean could potentially play in place of Wells who has come across from Hobart.

Brisbane Heat

Squad: Max Bryant, Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Brendan Doggett, Jason Floros, Cameron Gannon, Sam Heazlett, Shadab Khan (International), Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Lalor, Chris Lynn, Brendon McCullum (international, captain), Jimmy Peirson, Matt Renshaw, Alex Ross, Mitchell Swepson, Mark Steketee, Cameron Valente.

Predicted Best XI:
Jimmy Peirson (wk)
Brendon McCullum
Joe Burns
Chris Lynn
Marnus Labuschagne
Sam Heazlett
Jason Floros
Ben Cutting
Mark Steketee
Shadab Khan
Mitch Swepson

Thoughts: The Heat finished second last year but lost a semi. It would reasonably safe to expect a somewhat similar result this season. However, a lot of that depends on the fitness of Chris Lynn. At his best, he’s destructive and can be a match-winner, but if he’s underdone or doesn’t play, it makes it harder for the Heat. McCullum at the top of the order and with his experience will yet again prove important as an international while the signing of 19 year Paki spinner Shadab Khan should fill the void left by Samuel Badree. If Lynn doesn’t play, expect Alex Ross to come in, although he could potentially play in place of somebody like Labuschagne or Floros, but the Heat seem to love the latter for some reason.

Hobart Hurricanes

Squad: George Bailey (c), Jofra Archer (international), James Bazley, Cameron Boyce, Dan Christian, Hamish Kingston, Ben McDermott, Simon Milenko, Tymal Mills (international), David Moody, Tim Paine, Jake Reed, Sam Rainbird, Tom Rogers, Clive Rose, D’Arcy Short, Matthew Wade.

Predicted Best XI:
Ben McDermott
D’Arcy Short
James Bazley
George Bailey
Jofra Archer
Dan Christian
Matthew Wade (wk)
Tymal Mills
Cameron Boyce
Sam Rainbird
Clive Rose

Thoughts: Tough team to predict. This order is definitely wrong, but getting the XI right is a challenge. Paine on national duties means new recruit Wade will play and keep. Jofra Archer is highly rated but I don't know much else, allrounder though so he's gonna have to be their new Darren Sammy. Tymal Mills is their other international, a bowler who had a brief stint at the Heat last season. Kingston's more of a bowling allrounder who might play while Moody and Rogers are bowlers who could play too.

Melbourne Renegades

Squad: Aaron Finch (c), Dwayne Bravo (WI), Tom Cooper, Marcus Harris, Brad Hodge, Brad Hogg, Jon Holland, Tim Ludeman, Joe Mennie, Mohammad Nabi (AFG), James Pattinson, Kieron Pollard (WI – international replacement), Kane Richardson, Matt Short, Will Sutherland (rookie), Chris Tremain, Guy Walker, Beau Webster, Cameron White, Jack Wildermuth.

Predicted Best XI:
Aaron Finch
Marcus Harris
Cameron White
Brad Hodge
Dwayne Bravo
Mohammad Nabi
Tim Ludeman (wk)
Jack Wildermuth
Kane Richardson
Chris Tremain
Brad Hogg

Thoughts: Added some serious depth to the squad with a bunch of new recruits. Mohammad Nabi is a gun Afghani who spins it. Dwayne Bravo needs no introduction. Brad Hodge is back at the Gades, while they've got a bunch of new talent in Beau Webster, Jack Wildermuth and Will Sutherland. Sutherland probably won't crack the side. They picked up quicks Mennie and Richardson and have Jon Holland as well as another spin option, but I'm not sure if he plays ahead of international Nabi and cult hero Hogg. One thing you can lock in Ludeman as keeper, but where he bats is anybody's guess, but you can say that for just about everyone but captain and opener, Aaron Finch.

Melbourne Stars

Squad: Michael Beer, Scott Boland, Jackson Coleman, Ben Dunk, James Faulkner, Seb Gotch, Evan Gulbis, Peter Handscomb, Sam Harper, John Hastings (c), Ben Hilfenhaus, Glenn Maxwell, Kevin Pietersen (ENG), Rob Quiney, Marcus Stoinis, Dan Worrall, Luke Wright (ENG), Adam Zampa.

Predicted Best XI:
Luke Wright
Ben Dunk (wk)
Kevin Pietersen
Seb Gotch
Glenn Maxwell
Marcus Stoinis
James Faulkner
John Hastings
Adam Zampa
Scott Boland
Michael Beer

Thoughts: It's a strong team with a number of unlucky guys missing out. When players inevitably get called up for national duty, guys like Hilfy, Gulbis, Quiney and Worrall probably come in. I've got Seb Gotch in, he might be the most contentious selection, but the lad is the future. New recruit Ben Dunk should open and keep. Duke Hastings is over his injuries and captaining, so he's a safe bet. Michael Beer is loved at the Stars and between him and Zampa (plus the occasional Maxwell over), the spinning is covered.

Perth Scorchers

Squad: Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Johnson, Michael Klinger, Mitch Marsh, Shaun Marsh, Joel Paris, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Turner, Andrew Tye, Adam Voges (c), Sam Whiteman, David Willey (England)

Predicted Best XI:
Michael Klinger
Hilton Cartwright
Adam Voges
Ashton Turner
David Willey
Josh Inglis (wk)
Ashton Agar
Jhye Richardson
Andrew Tye
Mitch Johnson
Joel Paris

Thoughts: I admittedly ripped this from Gigantor's post, but he nailed why the Scorchers XI looks like this. They'll probably get some guys back in between or later on, but what you see is what you get. Willey's the only international which people have probably heard about. Turner and Agar are their spinners, while Josh Inglis is an up and coming keeper-batsman that should impress people.

Sydney Sixers

Squad: Sean Abbott, Sam Billings (England), Jackson Bird, Johan Botha, Ben Dwarshuis, Mickey Edwards, Jack Edwards (rookie), Moises Henriques, Daniel Hughes, Nathan Lyon, Nic Maddinson, Peter Nevill, Steve O’Keefe, Jason Roy (England), Jordan Silk, Mitchell Starc, Henry Thornton.

Predicted Best XI:
Daniel Hughes
Jason Roy
Nic Maddinson
Sam Billings
Moises Henriques
Johan Botha
Peter Nevill (wk)
Steve O'Keefe
Sean Abbott
Ben Dwarshuis
Jackson Bird

Thoughts: New recruit Peter Nevill slots straight into the keeper position, while internationals Billings and Roy resume their places in the side. Expect Starc and Lyon to come in to the team at some point as has become tradition. There isn't much else to say here, other than that there isn't too much depth to the squad, but I'd expect Mickey Edwards and Henry Thornton to maybe get a game or two because they're good talents.

Sydney Thunder

Squad: Fawad Ahmed, Aiden Blizzard, Jos Buttler (ENG), Pat Cummins, Andrew Fekete, Callum Ferguson, Ryan Gibson, Chris Green, Liam Hatcher (rookie), Usman Khawaja, Jay Lenton, Mitchell McClenaghan (NZ), Clint McKay, Arjun Nair, Kurtis Patterson, Ben Rohrer, Gurinder Sandhu, Shane Watson.

Predicted Best XI:
Shane Watson
Aiden Blizzard
Jay Lenton
Ryan Gibson
Callum Ferguson
Kurtis Patterson
Jos Buttler (wk)
Mitch McClenaghan
Chris Green
Clint McKay
Fawad Ahmed

Thoughts: Slightly harder to read how this XI looks than first anticipated, mainly because of the mixture of new recruits plus old hands. You can bank on Watto opening the batting, but who it's with is up in the air for mine. Jos Buttler, an international, should be their keeper, but he'll depart after something like 6 games, at which point Jay Lenton will take the gloves. Mitch McClenaghan is an allrounder Callum Ferguson now finds himself at his third franchise. Andrew Fekete might get a run, but I'm not too sure who would go out. Blizzard and Gibson are big hitting types who will probably need to take on some of the heavy lifting as well.

Make of this what you will, but the Stars are playing the "Border Bash" now and the XI is:

Hastings (c), Beer, Boland, Dunk, Faulkner, Gotch, Gulbis, Maxwell, Pietersen, Stoinis, Zampa.

Luke Wright is still on the plane over.

It makes sense that he'd come in Gulbis otherwise.

So, if that's any indication, I've least got the Stars XI correct.  :P
