SC '14- 69th, '15- bad, '16- badder, '17- baddest

« Reply #15 on: December 27, 2017, 11:12:19 AM »

Def: Savage, Witherden, L.McDonald, Hanley, Richards, Doedee, (Cumming, Murray)

Mid: Dangerfield, Martin, Kelly, Fyfe, Beams, Cripps, LDU, Kelly, (Barry, Garlett, Holman)

Ruck: Gawn, Naitanui, (Olango)

Fwd: Heeney, Billings, Christensen, Ah Chee, Bennell, Higgins, (Venables, Ahern)

Bank: $900

Post Christmas update.

Starting to find the Christinsen/Ah Chee/Bennell combination too good to separate. 240+ ppg all while making cash for an upgrade. To keep a 4/6/2/2 premo structure, I needed to go a bit more mid-priced in defense.

Witherden will at the very least keep his avg from 2017. Savage will be the Joey replacement and avg 90+ comfortably. Hanley will get much more midfield minutes and avg 85 absolute minimum. Luke McDonald is one that really surprised me late last season. He showed that he can accumulate and score well enough. I think he can take the next step and avg 90+

None, will be top 5. but I suspect all will avg 90+ and be top 10-15.

If they all avg 90+, I have 14 potential keepers + 3 midpricers who can (should) 80+. Bye structure of 3/7/10/10 as well, which is pretty perfect imo.

The Abusement Park is ready for 2018

« Reply #16 on: December 27, 2017, 11:40:37 AM »

This team will start off on fire i reckon with a lot of players averaging just less than the super premiums but much more than rookies. Only problem I see with this is you won't be able to get the likes of Hurley, Laird, Yeo and Hibberd in who will all probably score 5-10 more points each game. Although it won't matter early on as you will have an extra premium when teams start completing there sides you will be left behind the pack.

That is just my opinion anyways.

To many mid pricers and not even one of what I would call a premo in the back plus 3 risky FWD's as well , rest is ok you could get rid of those 4 backs get the 3 premos or 2 and someone like Lloyd and a cheapie like Birchall without having to change the rest of the team

Agree with Shaker defence is risky and reckon you need at least super premiums there. Need to watch Witherdens role in JLT to see if it changes and for any sign of  2nd year syndrome.

Post Bennell breakdown update.

Def: Laird, Hibberd, Savage, Witherden, Richards, Doedee, Murray, Cumming.

Mid: Dangerfield, Mitchell, Kelly, Fyfe, Cripps, Rayner, LDU, Garlett, Kelly, Barry, Worpel.

Ruck: Gawn, Nicnat, Olango.

Fwd: Heeney, Greene, Billings, Christensen, Higgins, Ahern, Venables, Ryan.

Bank: $900.

The more and more I think about it, the more I think we will need a premo structure of 4/5/2/3.

Cripps at M5 is a bit weak, but hopefully he can do a Mitchell of '17, and be my pick of the year.

Savage and Witherden should avg 90-95, possibly more depending on their role.

I like this team and agree that you will need to have at least a Birhcall/Brayshaw type at D4 as although rookie priced players may play Goddard/Keefe/Murray and the likes will be scoring 50 most weeks and not making money.

Would rather have Rayner/Uniacke/Dow/Brayshaw etc.

Love the Savage pick mate I am really considering him too as a pod.

Savage finished the year off well but won't play 22 IMO. He's a fringe player and not an automatic selection week in week out.
Wouldn't be surprised if he misses R1. If he plays a bad game or two he's out and one of the new boys (Clark, Coffield) may get a run or Rice who hasn't played a game yet but is a certainty too this year or Webster, Wright, Long, Stevens... will. Savage is in that group of 17-27 who will be in or out of the side depending on form. He's a definite risk.
Personally I think you need 6 premo mids too.

Wow, that's news to me. He averaged 100 from the byes onwards or something from memory. Going to be like Mitchell averaging 100 and being dropped haha.

Last year Savage played Rounds 1, 2 and 3 and was then dropped. Didn't return till Round 10 and was dropped again. Returned in R16 and held his spot.
Another year on and with more experience and bigger bodies benefitting the young player's coming through Savage has his work cut out in front of him. He and Weller have been reported as dropping weight in readiness for the 2018 season so he's going to put his best foot forward. He needs to. I won't be picking him.

His first 3 rounds were shocking. Deserved to be dropped. His last 8 weeks, he was in our top 5 players nearlly every week. If anyone was to be dropped, it'd be Webster out of the small defenders.

Because he is a better kick than Roberton, he was used as the outlet when he got back (27/32 kick to handball in first 4, when came back 134/63 - obviously told to stop bloody handballing it). Also four goals in the second period. If used the same way (and Roberton had medical issue recently), then good value

Possible, but for slightly more I'd be more inclined to go for a Williams/Simpson type. Specially as the side already has WitherGOAT.
