Crippa had an injury interrupted pre season last year which saw him get off to a slow start, then he got hit in the jaw by Lewis which saw it fractured. After he broke his leg it was revealed he was playing with badly damaged ribs for about 6 weeks. With all this happening he still averaged 103 (without injury score). Currently he is having a full pre-season and it will be his first full pre-season that he has completed. If he continues uninterrupted and starts the season 100% fit I'd be expecting form similar to his back end of 2016. This would see him go 110+ maybe even 115+.

Higgins much?

Hahahah, think Crippa has just been a little unlucky, much better player than Higgins as well.

The Abusement Park is ready for 2018

Think he will finish in the top 10-15 mids this season with an average just under 110. Think he will be tagged a lot and we don't really know how he will handle it. For me, I would prefer to spend a little bit more money and get someone like Beams and Selwood or even more again and get Merrett, Crouch or Kelly type.

Tagging guys like Cripps is a waste of time, he's a strong bodied hanballer, very similar to JPK. Murphy will cop the tag. I also think 110 is great, even better if they play 22 games.

Definitely under-priced for what he could do, strongly consider for me. In my current team but may be squeezed out come round 1

Agreed, cripps is too hard to tag, plus someone like murphy is much more damaging with his foot and it's much easier to tag.

Not a huge amount but will monitor, could be better for his scoring potential as we've seen with Danger, Dusty, Fyfe, Bont etc. What usually happens is the onfield minutes increase as players rest up forward. Given Cripps is 195cm he'd be a difficult match-up.

I reckon some the best mids have been destroyed (supercoach wise) by their coaches playing them outta position. Pendles and Rocky come to mind.

Don't think Cripps will spend that much time up forward, you right about those guys, Gray another one, but we're talking about the best clearance player in the AFL. Even JPK has stints up forward. I expect the onfield minutes to increase which is a good thing.

Agreed, plus Carlton can't afford to have him playing too much time up forward, especially with no Gibbs in the midfield now.

Danger, Dusty and Fyfe play as ball winners who rest in the forward line as they can pose a threat down there. Someone like M.Crouch, doesn’t, and rests on the bench – his TOG is much lower than the other 3.

This is the hopes for Carlton and Cripps. The article has words like “occasionally” and “pinch” littered throughout and sounds like Curnow will still be used predominately in the same role as last year. Cripps is one of the best inside mids in the comp, they need him at the contest. However, when they do throw Cripps forward (instead of the bench), there’s more chances to score so if anything, I see it as a positive. Combined with how cheap he is and his bye, he’s a no brainier and just a typical fluff article the AFL has written to fill space that we supercoaches think to much about.
