Jake Stringer
What to do with him?

I don't claim to be an expert like most of the other hacks on this forum. Instead I'm simply the best poster on this entire forum and pride myself on this.

As a testament to this I went and watched the ENTIRE Essendon intra-club game and calculated Jake Stringer's complete stats. The results? He is an absolute flowering lock in all formats and you are undoubtedly insane if you don't start him!

Jakey Stringer stats by quarter:

1st Quarter:
3 kicks 1 handball 1 mark 1 tackle 1 behind 19DT 17SC

2nd Quarter:
3 kicks 0 handballs 2 tackles 1 goal 1freefor 24DT 35SC

3rd Quarter:
2 kicks 1 handball 1tackle 1 goal 18DT 21SC

4th Quarter:
1 kick 2 handballs 1 mark 10DT 12SC

Final Stats:
9 kicks 4 handballs 2 marks 4 tackles 2 goals 1 behind 1 free for 0 frees against 71 DT 85 SC

SC Relevant Stats:
6 effective kicks 2 ineffective 1 clanger
6 handball receives
3 gathers from hitouts

Now before you say he "died" in the 4th you should know that the 4th only went for 15 minutes instead of the usual 30 and Jakey sat out the last 10-12 minutes of the game. What I'm saying is that Jakey recorded this legendary statline in just over 3 quarters. Which makes him even more of a lock!

Now just think about how much Jakey's tank will improve given the fact that there is still over 5 weeks until round 1! Can I say lock any louder?

Also don't forget that SC scores get sacled and Jakey 100% would have been scaled in this one!

Levi's Prediction for Jakey in 2k18:
10 kicks 6 handballs 16 disposals 5 marks 3 tackles 2 goals 1 behind 1 free for 1 free against
80 DT
86 SC

Even more evidence of an absolute lock:
 - Jakey Stringer in SC is priced at $356,000 from an average of 64.8. Jakey Stringer will easily average 85+ in SC which makes him undervalued by 111k. Would you rather the absolute lock Jakey Stringer or a hack like Tom J Lynch or Brownlow choke artist Travis Boak? I know I'd much and totally prefer 2 Jakey Stringers!

 - In AF Jakey is priced at 57.2 with a price of 403k. In AF/DT a conservative estimate of 80 is fair for him. Meaning he is about 23 points underpriced. Since AF is a putrid joke of a comp that evaluates to a 160k saved on if you were to start a spud like Michael Walters or that human microscope Darcy Parish.

False arguments you might have in your mind but should know are totally and utterly false:
 1. " yeah good poinTs  levii bUUTTTTT  sstringer wont kick 2 goals a game.~!!""

 - Levi says: Correct, he'll actually get more! In fact Stringer has kicked 54 and 37 goals before in his career and despite a horror year last year he still averaged 1.5 goals a game. 2 goals a game is a conservative estimate for him.

 2. " nice rite-up leVII   bbUUTTTTT  JAKEYY  wonnt get  16 touches! a game!!!""

 - Levi says: I don't think there is any doubt Jakey is in for a career best year. Jakey has averaged 15 and 14 touches a game previously in his career and will easily average just a few more and get 16+.

 3. "goood werk  levi  butt i  can''t trust  stringer in  sc i recon he is a  butter  dTer...""

 - Levi says: Jakey Stringer is an excellent DT pick as I have already stated however Jakey Stringer's SC has always been better than his DT every single year. In fact over his 5 year career it's an average of 6.4 better SC than DT. Which unironically reflects my 80DT to 86SC prediction.

Conclusion:
 - Jake Lloyd = Not a lock.
 - Dustin Martin = Not a lock.
 - Jake Stringer = Undisputed lock should be in your team otherwise you shouldn't be playing any fantasy comps.

That's a big sales pitch based on a practice game, one of the reasons Stringer got sacked from the Dogs is that he's a lazy trainer, to suggest he's suddenly ready to play midfield is a huge leap of faith. An 86 average is also setting the bar awfully low. Think 90+ is the bare minimum and I'd be focusing on getting all the 100+ players first. He's no cash cow either, might make 70k or so but that will take time.

Interesting you mention Boak, he's the bloke I'd be picking.

Bring on SC 2016

Why did he sit out most of the last quarter tho? Still needs to improve his tank I'd say.
Plus he was playing against half a good team as happens in all intra-clubs as opposed to say a whole Geelong or Sydney team.
Look as a Bombers supporter I hope he kills it, but if 80 or 85 is your generous prediction is that worth it over a 400+ player who can go 90-95?
You've convinced yourself bit not sure why u are selling him to us if u want a POD.
I'm not totally ruling him out, let's see how he goes in JLT.

Maybe you should watch the intraclub and see how many times he starts in the centre bounce. Probably something ELSE I should have done but it was definitely more than 5.

Why did he sit out most of the last quarter tho? Still needs to improve his tank I'd say.

Cause all guns sit out the final quarter of practice games.

Plus he was playing against half a good team as happens in all intra-clubs as opposed to say a whole Geelong or Sydney team.

You'd obviously bench him against the Cats, Mackie will do a number on him. The Bombers don't play Sydney until round 19 so you'd think you'd either have upgraded Jakey to Joey Daniher(another 86 ave spuds) or have the option to emg loophole Jakey on.

Not a chance.

Not even 0.01%? Wait hold on this isn't the "predict your chances of winning the comp overall" thread.

Listen people, I don't expect Jakey to be the best forward in the comp. I don't even expect him to be a keeper. He's just a good option to consider as a midpriced guy who could go big. If you start Jakey for 356K and he averages 90+ over the first 7 rounds making quick bank. You can easily sideways him to someone you "trust" more and you're laughing!

I mean if you're gonna start guys like; Lobb, Hogan, Matho, Rioli, Wells, Petracca, Ah Chee, Christensen, Bennell then you may as well be considering Stringer. Who by the way actually has footage and stats we can analyse this preseason unlike every other player I listed...

If there were such a thread my statement would be true in that as well ;D

Lobb - If #1 ruck, certainty for 90+
Hogan - Who is considering him?
Matho - Same as Hogan, but even so is improving and will no doubt average more than he did last year.
Rioli - Proven scoerer
Wells - Proven scorer
Petracca - Improving same as Matho
Ah Chee - Cheap and should get mid time
Christensen - Cheap and has shown scoring potential
Bennell - Same as Christo

Stringer? - Smith is more expensive and more likely to go 90+, whilst Christensen is cheaper and will make money more easily. Why pick the guy with the most unknown priced in the middle?

I've watched plenty of Stringer and he's often a lazy showboat. When I look at Toby McLean who came into the Dogs side with appalling endurance, I see a bloke who has worked his butt off to crack the midfield. Stringer on the other hand has coasted along without applying himself like a professional athlete.

I watched the intraclub game (see my full write up on the Essendon board) and Stringer genuinely was probably tied for BOG with Dev Smith. Like obviously you have to take into account it wouldn't have been as good of competition as a real game or even a JLT game, but his skills were top notch and his role seems pretty good for fantasy - both playing in the guts as well as his forward role. Screams of Dusty.

I'm not going to go out and guarantee a 110 average or whatever Dusty does, but I'm confident Stringer will really lift his game and, therefore, fantasy averages and generate a lot of cash - and maybe even be a keeper. He has huge upside, but obviously comes with risks (such as his career averages being underwhelming - 47, 69, 78, 75, 65 in SC). I don't have him in my side atm but a couple more good indicators and he's probably going to be in. 90+ is definitely not out of the question.

But on the other hand, I always want Devon Smith and Parish just as bad for their great seasons to come :X

If Stringer gets his average up to 90+ over 6-7 rounds I'll have a look but he's pretty risky to start with.

As a Bombers supporter I hope he kills it, but I don’t see him being a keeper. Will make cash, but I see Smith averaging 95+ and will be a keeper. Will average more possessions and tackles, plus kicks goals too.

You pick Stringer as a keeper

To make 100k he will have to average low 90's, if you're trading out forwards who are averaging over 90 you're probably number one haha

I'll only consider him if the rookie situation is flowered
