Good Morning All
What more can i say - I'M HOOKED ON THIS GAME...was introduced to Supercoach this year by a mate a week before Round 1 and have had a ball. The first few weeks were a bit difficult - i had no ideas what i was doing - am a fanatical St.Kilda fan so i initially loaded up on Saints players - the St.Kilda school girl has a lot to answer for. Things started to turn around when i stumbled across this fantasic website and have not looked back since - though this misses may beg to differ (hey, she'll get over it).
Anyways, i suppose the only way to improve on last years overall ranking is to do a bit of planning in the pre-season - although only one of i'm sure many attempts before Round One 2012, below is my first attempt of some sort of team;
BACKS
Goddard (B/C) Gibbs (B/C) Deledio H Shaw Lake Buntine Docherty
- Smedts (B/F) / Mohr
MIDS
Pendlebury Ablett jnr Murphy Selwood Treloar T Mitchell
- Rookie (C/F) / Rookie (C/B)
RUCKS
McEvoy Leuenberger
- Giles / Stanley (R/F)
FOWARDS
Fyfe (F/C) Goodes (F/C) Zaharakis (F/C) Kreuzer (R/F) Morabito Porplyzia Saad
- Hoskin-Elliott (F/C) / Zorko
As stated previously, this will be the first of many attempts...here are a couple of decisions that i really need to sure up before lock-out come Round One 2012;
* Am i going to burn myself (again) by starting with
H Shaw
- all i can say is hopefully he has finally grown up!!
* As above, is
B Lake
going to make me look like a d***head - only pre-season form will show us what head space he is
* Is
B McEvoy
going to be too much of a gamble - but as many ruckman had shown this year, being handed the sole ruck responsibility can only mean huge fantasy points - will only have
Kosi
has back-up so fingers crossed (though have Mumford penciled in if pre-season form demands a change).
*
M Kreuzer v's P Ryder
- have tossed this around and decided on
Kreuzer
...though could be very easily swayed if
J Hird
provides
P Ryder
with the sole ruck responsibility.
* Are
A Morabito
&
J Porplyzia
going to be able to overcome injury and get back to their best (or potential best in
Morabito's
case).
* Am i going to regret not starting
L Franklin
and
T Cloke
in my starting side - though i feel
Franklin
has a tough start to the year so am hoping that his price will drop - he is definatley my first Forward upgrade when the time comes.
So many questions to be answered - but so much time before Round One 2012 (geez cricket is boring)...anyways, i know alot of people read the posts on these websites and don't provide and reply/feedback (hey i know everyone has a life outside of Fantasy Footy), but if anyone can spare a few minutes your expert feedback will be much appreciated.
Cheers

gday mate i'll say something! mate i love the game as well, yea if you had started in 2010 your saints would of been on fire but 2011, or the first half anyway was not good.
straight up mate the team looks solid throughout.you haven't gone for many mid priced types, and you look like you are all over the dual position players(DPP).
i'm not sure about kreuzer personally, i see you have him for DPP with stanley. i don't think you need it. just have two good rookies on the bench in your rucks to cover a zero here and there. or trade prem ruck for a prem ruck if you have to during season. i don't know, kreuzer will most likely average around 90?? and thats what your paying from the start (if you don't know a players season average determines his starting price for next season a 100 average will see a player around 550k). you could even start a rookie here who could score the same? or spend a good 100k less or more on a midfield type. i think this tactic ran its course as petrie was so cheap in 2011.
mate did you know buddy franklin averages his highest score against collingwood?? buddy lifts for big ones. but he is expensive, imo he is worth a start, and i'll be picking up the slack somewhere else in my team. although many others won't start buddy. i'll be starting cloke personally as well!!
you have a good spread of prems and only 7 or 8 upgrades needed. i don't see how mcevoy could improve much personally - mummy looks like he could be huge next year. - we are all waiting on lake, if he is named he will be popular.
mate besides giving you a spill on kreuzer, i think your team is good. just monitor pre seasons. joel selwood will probably be in many teams. you can see him getting close to that 120 average and he is the cheapest out of the proven super prems. he is in my team for sure as he has been for a couple years now.

here is my current line up mate.
i have 5 prem mids and as the pre season goes on and we find out who could be smokies ect one will more than likely be axed esp if there are a few good mid rookies about
backs - GOD , gibbs, deledio, fisher, lake, buntine, rookie. emerg - rookie, rookie
mids - GAJ (C), pendles, swan, jelwood, swallow, rookie. emerg - rookie rookie
ruck - mummy, west - giles, rookie(redden??)
forwards - buddy, fyfe, cloke, dangerfield, rookie rookie rookie emerg - rookie rookie
so my team will change once some good picks are uncovered. but if the good rookies are forward and back i might even start 5 midfield premiums. or drop fyfe and spread the cash out evenly amoung the forward line (midpriced types) last season i traded in the dpp players as there were some good DPP rookies that didn't start from round 1. its too early to know a strategy
10k left with rookies being 94k each on fanplanner

Get Lake out of your team! Please don't destroy your team! your Midfield looks great but i would choose a different Premium MID to Murph. I think Rockliff is at the same price, If so get Rocky. McEvoy will fail this year. ST K have to have a bad year before they can start competing for Premierships. i would not take the risk on him. Mummy is a good choice but I'd rather have Leuenberger. i would take Ryder over Kreuzer. Ryder will take the ruck roll while Hille will play Forward.
I doubt Heath Shaw will ever grow up. I think it would be too risky to take him. He missed eight weeks from betting on a match. I think he will just get into more trouble. i think that Porps will do well this year. They should start to climb up the ladder and if Porps becomes one of the leading Goal kickers at Adelaide(Again) he will become a real DT threat to anyone who doesn't have him.

Nice team HF. Agree with the above, can add that Goodes is priced this year to his maximum potential having a great 2011. I would look to pick him up mid season as he has a habit of putting a couple of stinkers together which will drop his price significantly. He also had knee issues late in the season and with players of this vintage and the above factors, I would prefer to sit and wait on him.

really nice, solid, high-scoring potential team. Maybe Franklin over Goodes? Goodes only gets super in the 2nd half of the season, but overall the best team I have seen. There I've said it !

Agree very solid team. Not sure of cash you have left but maybe if you have some look at Maric or West as a 3rd Ruck to give cover and then get another forward in to replace Kreuzer if only having him for the DPP. Who knows Kreuzer may be the Petrie for 2012.

Good Morning Guys
Thnaks you all for your feedback so far...apologies for the late reply, but had to take the misses away for a few days and didn't have access to a PC. After scrolling through everyone's suggestions / thoughts on my initial team, i have had a slight rethink on the structure that i'm looking to start with;
* Agree with Ringo and Torres in that
Kreuzer
may not be the answer in regards to the DPP for the year - may be best to go with a cheap third ruckman to act as back-up in those weeks where either
Big Mummy
or
Luey
may miss.
* Agree with Torres in rergards with
Franklin
- what was i thinking not starting this champion...how can you not have a player that has the potential to kick 10 goals in any game that he wishes to - i just hope that he can keep his wings down this year and cop those silly one week suspensions.
* After hearing
Scotty Watters
speak over the past week, it looks as though he would be looking to free up the St.Kilda game plan to enable a more open / higher scoring type of football - to me that will only improve the already high scoring potential of a
Sam Fisher
type of player. He is one of the best exponents of the third man up / loose defenders in the competition - just imagine if he gets the license to also run and create off half back this year.
* Although i believe that
Mark Murphy
is one of the elite players in the competition, i have had to change things around in the midfield to improve the scoring capacity in my forward line - if pre season form warrants selection, i believe that
Michael Barlow
will be one of the bargin choices for 2012 (though at $400k i don't think that i will be on my own there).
* I'm going to hold my ground on
Brian Lake
at this stage - he pretty much has had a 9 month pre-season under his belt (with no physical contact) so he should be fit an ready to go. If Brendan McCarthy uses him to his strengths - that being the floating third man up / free wheeling defender - just imagine the loads of cheap marks and kicks that he will get - SC & DT Points galore. Even if he is only used at an upgrade option further down the track, his track record will ensure that he plays on weekly basis in the first part of the season.
With all that said my revised team looks something like this;
BACKS
Goddard (B/C) Gibbs (B/C) Deledio Fisher Lake Buntine Docherty
- Smedts (B/F) / Mohr
MIDS
Pendlebury Ablett jnr Selwood Barlow Treloar T Mitchell
- Rookie (C/F) / Rookie (C/B)
RUCKS
Mumford Leuenberger
- Maric / Giles
FOWARDS
Franklin Fyfe (F/C) Cloke J Reiwoldt Morabito Porplyzia Saad
- Hoskin-Elliott (F/C) / Zorko
Salary Ramaining = Around $10,000
Feel free to slaughter this team with your feedback.
