Giving the captaincy to GAJ would go a long way in keeping him there away from GC and GWS

Ling will see out the next 2-3 years as Geelong captain, whilst Selwood will be assured the job afterwards. Ablett is a fantastic player and is no doubt I great club leader, but we know what he's like in front of the media and a captain needs to be able to handle himself well in those types of situations, which we know Ling can do.

Smokies also include: Mackie (been talked up recently as a possible candidate), Bartel, Corey and Chapman, however, if we're not going with Selwood or Ablett, I don't see anyone else getting it over Ling.
