2016/17 Trading

Trade 1 Three way trade here netting us Back up ruck to Stefan martin in Archie Smith. Sad to see tags and Rich leave but we gain youthful replacements in george Hewett and Mitch Wallis.
Hedgies give: Nic Naitanui and Mitch Wallis
Hedgies receive: Daniel Rich and Leigh Montagna
Hoods give: Archie Smith and George Hewett
Hoods receive: Nic Naitanui
Breakers give: Daniel Rich and Leigh Montagna
Breakers receive: Archie Smith, George Hewett and Mitch Wallis

Trade 2
Swansea breaker give: Cyril Rioli + N9
Hurricanes give: Stephen Hill + N14 + Jarrad Jansen
Needed to strengthen our midfield and Stephen Hill does that 27 year old entering prime.

Trade 3
Steins give: Lee Spurr
Swansea give: Lewis Taylor
Needed another sound defender

Trade 4
Blackpool give: Jack Darling + Shaun Burgoyne and N9
Swansea give: Isaac Heeney + N27
Hope this trade does not come back to hurt us -  Needed to get a top 10 pick back and gaining Darling and Burgoyne for Heeny considered fair although we believe Isaac still has a lot to offer.

Trade 5
Badgers give: Jesse Lonergan + N23
Breakers give: Jarrod Witts + N14 + N59
With the trading in of Smith no need to rely on Witts so sound trade for Breakers.

Trade 6
Breakers give: Brad Ebert
Dragons give: N17 + Riley Knight + Kayne Turner
Ebert is reaching end of career so time to trade for youth

Trader 7
Breakers give: Charlie Cameron+ Jake Kolodjashnij + N17
Hoods give: Dean Towers + Sam Day + N38
Just exchanging like players but Day has DPP

Pick 9 Will Setterfield

Summary:
Will Setterfield has the traits that should give him the ability to transition into an inside midfield role in the future. Despite some question marks on his durability, Setterfield has shown in 2016 that if fit and firing he can be a damaging player around the stoppages.

Pick 23 - Shai Bolton

Summary:
Bolton as a player has traits not too dissimilar to Hawthorn’s Cyril Rioli, with an outstanding step to get around his opponent.  Bolton like Rioli isn’t a huge disposal winner, but can be exciting with ball in hand. He will likely land somewhere in the second or third round of the National Draft. Clubs such as Sydney, West Coast and Western Bulldogs could all use small forwards who are creative and could use Bolton’s services.
Bolton is a marvel in the way he glides around the ground using his evasiveness, speed and footy smarts to break games open. He’s a player you would pay to see as he can, on his day, kick goal of the year and take mark of the year in the same game.

Rookie Draft

Pick 9 - Tom Ruggles


Local lad from the Geelong area who became one of the most consistent defenders in the competition while playing with the Cats’ VFL team in 2015. Held his spot across half-back all season, despite pressure for spots as AFL players came back from injury. Ended up winning Geelong’s VFL best and fairest. A hard worker, he has made many sacrifices to get a shot at the highest level.
