basically players who greatly affect a match, but not necessarily with just ridiculous disposal counts. So like, players with huge boots like rich will probably be better SCers, also players who are going to be doing a lot of 1%s, and those that win the hard ball (in DT a mark is 3 points, in SC you get more marks for contested marks etc.)

yeh thats it mate u need impact players... seagulls r no good.. posessions need to count usualy

Would I be right to assume that Josh Paul Kennedy is a good pick since he is a very important player to the Swans.

Yeah, JPK is a SC gun.

Also NDS as elephants said before, but he can't handle a tag.

How about pricing? Is SC salary the same as DT (i.e. the AFL salary cap) or different?

Yeah salary cap is 10 million for SC but there are some pretty big discrepancies in prices for players. For example, GAJ finished the SC season priced $701,700 and in DT he finished at $567,700.

Essentially the same game - 9 forwards, 8 midfielders, 4 rucks and 9 forwards this season but I can see them resorting back to the 2010 system where there was a lower magic number so prices across the board were lower and teams were made up of 10 forwards, 9 midfielders, 4 rucks and 10 defenders, I hope they bring this system back next season to help us cope with the byes.

The same rules apply for both games, its just the point scoring and prices that are different.

Actually, I have a question...
How ARE points awarded? Is it statistical based or what?

It really is a mystery, it is statistically based to an extent but if it gets down to the last 5 minutes then that goes out the window, with goals being awarded up to 27 points (as was the case with Karmichael v the Tiges) +15 points for the mark. Vice Versa if it a blow out, with some goals in 75+ point matches only being rewarded with 2 SC points.

How points are scored (according to the SC website):

STAT DESCRIPTION   POINTS AWARDED/DEDUCTED
Effective kick   4 Points
Ineffective kick   0 Points
Clanger kick   -4 Points
Effective Handball   1.5 Points
Ineffective handball   0 Points
Handball clanger   -4 Points
Handball receive   1.5 Point
Hardball get   4.5 Points
Loose-ball get   4.5 Points
Goal   8 Points
Behind   1 Point
Mark uncontested (maintaining possession)   2 Points
Mark contested (maintaining possession)   6 Points
Mark uncontested (from opposition)   4 Points
Mark contested (from opposition)   8 Points
Tackles   4 Points
Free kick for   4 Points
Free kick against   -4 Points
Hitout to Advantage   3 Points
