Round 14 Results:

Bradford Badgers 25.15.165 defeated Manchester Magic 25.13.162
Late changes: Jeremy Cameron replaced Lance Franklin and  Jason Tutt replaced Taylor Adams for the Magic.
The Magic nearly pulled of the upset of the round againt the highly fancied Badgers. Urged on by their parochial home crowd the Magic were storming home and just failed to catch the Badgers. The Magic were again forced to play a make shift ruckman in Dylan Shiel and this undoubtledly cost them the game. Captain Tom Liberatore led the Magic well and was the BOG nearly carrying his team over the line. This was a very high quality game played in a great competitive spirit with the Badgers skipping out to an early lead and the Magic coming home strongly.

Leeds Leeches 22.14.146 defeated Liverpool Lobsters 17.11.113
Late Changes: Scott Thompson replaced Bachar Houli, Josh Saunders replaced Brent Reilly, Marley Williams replaced Matt Dea and Mitch Duncan replaced Sam Wright for the Lobsters.
Leeches comfortably defeated the Lobsters who again lacked cohesion due to the number of late changes made. Caoch is coming under increasing pressure and may have to resign his position. New coach of the Leeches seems to have made a difference but hard to judge given the opposition.

Winchester Werewolves 29.16.190 defeated Bilston Bunnies 22.15.147   
The Werewolves continue to flex their muscle with a very commanding display to defeat the Bunnies. The Werewolves were too strong all over the park for the bunnies and have recorded their highest score of the season. With players especially Luke Ball starting to really discover form after injury the Werewolves are firming to take out the premiership. For the Bunnies Dayne Beams in his first match of the season showed he can still be a force in the competition as he regains match fitness. Coach Colliwobblers has his team firing at the right end of the season and all players are now contributing to the team and now doubt the performance of his forwards would have been pleasing at this stage of the season.

Bunnies: Mayne, Beams, Douglas and Lyons.

Huddersfield Hawks 20.13.133 defeated Grope Lane Giants 19.15.129
In another close game the Hawks just outlasted the Giants. the Giants continue to show improvement late in the season and coach nails must be ruing the injuries suffered early in the season. Despite the win, the Hawks, after showing some fine early season form, have slipped a little in a worrying sign for coach JBS-Hawks with finals approaching. The Hawks suffered an early blow with Tom Scully having to be replaced in Quarter one after collecting a heavy knock. The Hawks were easily drawn into the defensive game plan of the Giants and for a team of their experience should have been able to turn this around. Instead we witnessed a very stop start game with numerous stoppages around the ground. The Hawks will be looking for an improved performance next week if they are to be serious contenders for the finals.

Oxford Owls 24.12.156 defeated Crosby Cruisers 23.10.148
Late Changes: Jed Adcock replaced Simon White , Kade Simpson replaced Matthew Boyd , Matthew Pavlich replaced Sam Kerridge for Cruisers.
The Owls returned to the winning list with a win over Cruisers who again were unsettled with a number of late changes. The Owls continue to put games into their gun recruits Wines and O'Meara and they are developing a good understanding for the future.  The Cruisers coach is again coming under pressure and the Board will be looking for an improved performance from the coach and Team for the rest of the season.

Hastings Hurricanes 24.12.156 defeated Newcastle Falcons 21.14.140
Late changes: Brent Staker replaced Blayne Wilson and Stephen Hill replaced Stephen Coniglio for the Hurricanes and Ted Richards replaced Nick Suban, Nick Commer replaced Daniel Cross and Brian Lake (oop) replaced Matthew Stokes for the Falcons.
The Hurricanes severely dented the finals hopes of the Falcons by inflicting another defeat on the Falcons who continue their slide from form. It most be a worrying for Coach Sid that this once high flying team has slipped so low and may miss out on the finals all together.  Injuries and late replacements have not helped the Falcons but it is hoped they can return to form. The Hurricanes consolidate their position in the 8 and with a full and injury free team may be a force to be reckoned with.

Swansea Breakers 23.15.153 defeated Birmingham Bombers 21.13.139   
The Breakers prevealed in this 3rd v 4th clash. The Bombers suffered a serius setback when Lachie Hansen was knocked out in a sickening collision in the first minutes of then game and was unable to participate further. This was offset however by an injury to the in form Breakers fullback Rory Thompson late in the second quarter. With Captain Marc Murphy still down on form the Bombers were unable to contain the strong running midfield of the Breakers led by Captain Dane Swan.  The Breakers consolidate their posiition in the top 4 whilst the Bombers drop down the bottom 4 of the eight.

Bombers: Lewis, Crouch, Caddy, Vince.

Swindon Swaggers 24.11.155 defeated Staines Steins 20.17.137    
In undoubtedly their best performance of the season the Swaggers comfortbaly accounted for the Steins. The return to form was mainly due to Captain Tom Rockliff having his best game and this rubbed off on to the other players. Coaches Jukes and Ossie must be scratching their heads wondering where this form has been all year. Conversely for the Steins captain Kieran Jack decided to have his worst game of the season and did not help the Steins cause.

Nottingham Hoods 26.17.173 defeated Hebden Bridge Hedgehogs 24.13.157
In yet another dominant display Hoods easily accounted for the Hedgehogs who needed to win this game to consolidate a position in the 8. However with other results going their way they still amy retain their position in the 8 when % are calculated. The Hoods senior players of Ablett and Pendlebury again made it difficult for the Hoods midfield to get their hands on the ball although captain Stanton and Jones toiled manfully against them. With Luke Hodge starting to gain match fitness and form the Hoods midfield is further strengthened  and they will give the premiership a real shake although other teams may have a say.

Hedgehogs: Nathan Jones, Bird, Hutchings, Martin

Great read Ringo, thought my opponent this week had a strong side, the Werewolves are on fire but i wouldn't go as far as premiership talk just yet, some super sides in this comp and some super captains on their day....

still we'll take the 4 points and start planning for next week
