With the season coming to an end and to maintain interest just wondering whether teams not involved the 8 would like a KO competition.
Proposal as Follows: AFL Round 20 9 v 18 10 v 17 11v 16 12 v 15 13 v 14 8 highest scoring teams progress AFL Round 21 based on scores received seeded 1 to 8 1 v 8 2 v 7 3 v 6 4 v 5 AFL Round 22 Winner 1 v 8 v Winner 4 v 5 Winner 2 v 7 v Winner 3 v 6 AFL Round 23 2 winners play off.
All may vote whether involved in final 8 or not.
Do not feel pressured to continue just gauging interest, If enough Interest generated may provide another Trophy - The Presidents Plate or similar.

I love the idea.
Just one question.
Would it be a better idea to randomise the draw rather than have 9 v 18, 10 vs 17 etc? Like, you would think that it's unlikely that 18 could beat 9th (a team just outside the 8th who let's hypothetically only missed finals through percentage) and therefore gives 18th a better shot at actually progressing further.

After the first week the 8 highest scoring teams (whether they win or not) progress to second week. So it is possible for Team 18 to advance even if beaten as one of the 8 highest scoring teams of the round. Draw was just a method to match up to get the 8 highest scores in first week and eliminate 2 Teams. It was a bit hard to do a draw with 10 teams and 4 weeks so this is what I came up with

Ah okay, my bad. I don't think I looked at it properly. That's fair enough. It's a good method, well done Ringo, nice work.

8 highest scoring teams or the 5 winners and 3 highest scoring losers??
8 teams could score large with 4 teams just losing and the 5th winner misses out

I assume it would be the latter. It would kinda suck to win but not make it through.

Could just knock out the bottom 2 (and they can play a series to decide the wooden spoon!), and have 9th v 16th play it out like in SC/DT?

With new coaches improving both Swaggers and Lobsters (current bottom 2) think they deserve a chance to participate in this competition fully hence the reason for a round to eliminate 2.

Just bumping this for coaches to vote on the new options. Vote is tied atm so need to have a winner prior to next week when competition will start.
Consensus is for comp the debateable is the options for losing 2 teams next week.
