POSTED BY JUKES

So I've counted up all of the votes and will post the top ten, along will the full votes, on Friday Night to coincide with our grand final!

Who's everybody's bet on winning? I know who I'll have my money on :3

So for the votes, it's a 3-2-1 basis through the regular season- does NOT include the Finals, East vs West Series, or GW Cup. The vote is generally bias towards successful teams, with votes scaled to team performance and the match margin, determined by the overall standard deviation of results.
0 to 4 point margin (draw to half of a SD): 3 votes to winning team, 2 and 1 to losing team.
5 to 8 points (half of a SD to one SD): 3 and 1 votes to winning team, 2 to losing team
9 to 16 points (one SD to 2 SD): 3 and 2 votes to winning team, 1 to losing team
17 or more points (more than 2 SD): 3, 2 and 1 votes to winning team

EQUAL EIGHTH

Marc Murphy (Colorado Avalanche) - 13 votes
Shane Mumford (Detroit Giants) - 13 votes

Murphy, alongside Nat Fyfe (11 votes, T-14th), really spearheaded Colorado's fight to 6th place and a Semi-Final as often-captain, while Mumford was dominant early in the season to feed the Giant midfield, and will hope to replicate his best form in the grand final this weekend.

EQUAL FOURTH

Dayne Beams (Houston Bombers) - 14 votes
Scott Pendlebury (Boston Terriers) - 14 votes
Todd Goldstein (Miami Stars) - 14 votes
Trent Cotchin (Brooklyn Hawks) - 14 votes

Captain Beams was a lone shining light in a very sub-par season for Houston; Pendles really lead from the front to launch Boston into them minor premiership, but will be disappointed not to finish higher; Goldstein's ruckwork was superb despite Miami's poor support; and Cotchin, the third captain from the four players finishing equal fourth, also lead superbly in Brooklyn's campaign, although his votes did dry up in a mid-season slump.

THIRD

Callan Ward (Peruvian Panthers) - 15 votes

Ward's super season, averaging 113 points per game, was a driving force in Peru's campaign, poor forward work possibly holding him back from a higher position. Although he will be very disappointed with finishing 14th, Ward will be relatively pleased with his season, and would hope to force his young side up the ladder in 2015. The highlight of his season was a stretch of 13 scores of 100+ in 14 games through the middle of the season. Ward receives the Abraham Lincoln Medal for third place in the Americas Medal.

SECOND PLACE

G...Ablett (Santiago Otters) - 22 votes

Not so great now, are you Gary? He stormed into a very large lead early, jumping well into the double figures before many of the other top-10 vote-getters had even polled multiple votes. But he slowed down and got himself injured, although he did hold the lead right up until the final round, with a best on ground performance by the medal-winner "robbing" Ablett of the win. Ablett receives the John F. Kennedy Medal for second place in the Americas Medal.

FIRST PLACE- WINNER OF THE AMERICAS MEDAL

J...Selwood (Chicago Sharks) - 23 votes

Selwood has stormed home to win the inaugural Americas Medal by a solitary vote, an effort that he must be proud of- despite the Sharks going down in the first week of the finals. Selwood picked up 3 votes in the final round to leapfrog Ablett, in addition to 3 votes in the previous two weeks. Congratulations to Joel Selwood and the Chicago Sharks for taking home the first Americas Medal! Selwood will have a lap of honour in LA this Saturday at the grand final to commemorate his effort.

My 2014 team scored a total of 60 votes according to that list. Is that a good effort? We aim to function as a team rather than being reliant on a single player but there's just no stopping Ablett (who should have won this award)  ;)

Seeing as there are 96 votes up for grabs for each team in total, good effort I'd say. That being said, haven't looked at any other teams totals.
