Higgins and Waite are much more important than Greenwood.

Structurally, yes. I'd agree. But Greenwood is still in our best 22.

Yes but we have a lot of mid depth .

As said I fit wells basically replaces him in the 22 with Basti no longer the sub . Dummont McKenzie as the sub.

Its already been said anyway that Higgins and Waite didn't effect Greenwood leaving. Also rumours of Greenwood changing his mind.. I hope so. I don't like North heaps but I'd rather see Collingwood not get him haha

Interesting stuff. I guess we'll have a lot more facts emerge over the next few days to clarify the situation a little.

greenwood for pick 25.

think thats a really good get. I still dont think we needed Greenwood, soo much midfield depth in the squad, had injuries in the midfield this year. With that hopefully not an issue im not sure he is even needed. Will mean guys like bastinac can play full games instead of being the sub.

Higgins and Waite in will add to us far more than the loss of levi.

pick 25 who knows could be a really good pick up.

very happy with the off-season soo far this year.

U srs bro? Greenwood was worth more than 25, easily.

Take the Christensen trade. Pick 21 for a young forward with back issues, that will no doubt plague his career.

Pick 25 for Greenwood, a midfielder in career best form, and Collingwoods best behind Pendles and Sidebottom.

Hardly see how thats "a really good get".

I still judge it based on that. Finished equal second in the B&F of a team that made the prelims. Christensen played how many games and finished where in Geelong's B&F? North got screwed over.

i think it's an amusing opinion Holz when you told me you hardly watch North games

well I was live at the ground for the first 5 home games and watched every single finals game so all up about 10 games this year. I understand he was important to use this year but, some of the guys who have struggled into our best 22 i think can stand up just as much.

he isnt the type of player we want on our list anyway if he is looking to join a club on the decline over the club who gave him chances and is pushing top 4. Guys like bastinac im happy to see get a full game, have watched him over the years and feel he was robbed being the sub in the finals series, he came on and had an impact too.

If we didnt have the mid depth behind him than its a loss, but pick 25 is decent in this draft. Last year everyone would be stoked with pick 25 for him. Happy we didnt cave and pay him 400k, frees up more space in the cap and pick 25 could give someone good.

Better than paying him and letting guys like Dummont walk as not given a chance, have followed him in the VFL closesly and if given a chance I like what he can do.

I agree with Holz.  Although ideally we would rather have Greenwood than not have him, I think 25 is about right.

For Collingwood, he will have more opportunities than he would at North because after Pendles, Swan and Sidey, their midfield is very inexperienced.

Greenwood thrived at North in the absence of Wells, Spitter, Ziebell, who all missed games throughout the year, but Norths midfield runs very deep these days, and the word on the street is that Dumont is on the way to becoming everything Greenwood is and more, a better user of the football.  I was reading the latest article on North and the 2 main replacements as the inside mid are Dumont and Jacobs, both younger than Levi and plenty of upside.

As Holz says, we don't want Dumont to walk because of lack of opportunities.  Looking forward to seeing Dumont play in 2015, along with Higgins and Waite.

In context we have given up Greenwood, but gained Higgins, Waite, and pick 25.  I think we are a long way in front.

I agree with Holz too, if anyone could leave you're lucky it's Greenwood.
You've got so many mids you can easily replace him, like with Basti or Dumont. Expect Swallow, JZ and co. to increase their output from last season two. You can easily cover him IMO.

I disagree, I think you're just trying to feel optimistic about the loss of Greenwood.

I accept he had a 'contract year' but if I gave you the option of:

a) Waite/Greenwood; or
b) Waite/Higgins

... you know which you'd take everyday of the week and twice on Sunday ...  ;)

not a big call, but North will rue getting greedy (but fair enough, you gotta risk it sometimes) and goin for all 3 at the same time - should've locked in Greenwood first or just after Waite and then see if they could get Higgins - the Dogs were in tatters just after they signed 'Butters' (Higgins as in made of) and I didn't see many other clubs chasing him.

all that BS about list management and Waite/Higgins offers not being the issue is cr*p because in the same breath they say that Levi went with the offer at the 'top of the tree' - so obviously it was an issue.

I don't know that he's worth $400k a season for one 'contract' year, but I can see how he would have clearly felt unwanted by the club in their dogged (pun intended) pursuit of Higgins before settling his contract negs ...  :P     ;)

I'm being serious here by saying I would go Higgins over Greenwood every day of the week. Higgins has soo much talent , the only issue us his injury history which does worry me. But Gray was injury prone and he got over it. Higgins fully fit is the better player and he can play on the HFF on the wing or off half back. Gtmreenwood is a good ball winner but he us replaceable

Would like to see dummont get a go.

Obviously would prefer all 3 but Higgins over Greenwood for me . Gaining pick 25 on top is just gravy.

I'm a big Higgins fan, always have been.

Thank you! So many people crying about him leaving, he's played one good season and to top it off, he is replaceable.

I agree with all that, I just don't see Higgins doing a Gray this year or in coming years ... how old is Higgins now btw??

it's a big risk that I don't see coming out in North's favour as much as I hate to say ...

so different types of player, but side-by-side Greenwood > Higgins taking in talent/potential/injury history/recent form even ...
